Newbie - Already Having Wedding Drama With Paradisus Pdc

Hey there ladies!

I'm new on this site and I found it because of the amazing topic trend on here regarding Paradisus La Perla in Playa del Carmen.  Our wedding is scheduled for April 16, 2016 and we booked the venue (and signed a contract) back in May of this year.  Well we just found out that somehow the resort double booked our ceremony venue and unilaterally was going to move us to a different venue location that we did not select, nor did we want to utilize for the ceremony.

Suffice it to say, we are very upset, disappointed, and frankly, insulted by how cavalier they were about the change.  It was our understanding that they never host two weddings at the same time.  We are now being left with the option of either using the Gazebo to host our 80-100 guest wedding on the 16th while another wedding is going on at our original ceremony venue, move the date of the wedding to the following day (keeping in mind that guests have already booked rooms, we have already sent save the dates and had our invitations printed) in order to use the bridge while a potential corporate event is going on behind us at Gabi Club, or pursue legal action for breach of contract.

It would be great to know if anyone else has had similar issues with the Romance Department and how it was resolved.  This has been a very stressful and upsetting week to say the least!

That is not right. I would tell them if i have to change my location after you only host one wedding at a time and it seems that is not true. Then they need to give you a big discount on your wedding package. After you have already sent you invites out. And people have booked. Don't change your plans just because the resort made a mistake. Make them pay for it.

@@NG1515.....I had a similar situation happen with the Royalton White Sands in Jamaica......I ultimately searched for another resort in the area and moved my wedding to the other resort.  And this happened in May of this year, my wedding is in 4 weeks.

I had to have my travel agent move all of the reservations to the new resort.  Luckily, the room rates were the same and my guests did not have to pay more.  I sent out wedding update cards with the new location and an explanation on the back.

It was a lot of work but my travel agent was the greatest.

I did request a refund from the Royalton White Sands and they did honor it since it was their mistake, I had verification of my locations for the ceremony and receptions which they booked another wedding at the same time.

I am so sorry you are going through this and I definitely understand the stress that it causes.  I hope you are able to get this resolved.  If you need any advice, feel free to message me. ;)

  • 2 weeks later...

I am happy to report that we actually got everything straightened out!  After the initial shock of what happened and the effect it would have on our wedding, the resort and its team were extremely helpful, understood the stress associated with the change and we were able to move forward past this issue and get back to planning our special day.  The Romance Department came through and we were very pleased with and thankful for the attention they gave to resolving this issue.  Our wedding will now be the next day on April 17th which hopefully won't impact too many of our guests.  We are both just extremely happy to put that all behind us and can honestly say that we have been impressed with the manner in which the resort and the Romance Department handled this matter.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
