Thank you again! I sent you a private message

I truly love this site. So incredibly helpful. I'm looking to get married next year at Dreams La Romana 11/5/2016 just waiting to hear back from the WC on how to secure my date. I reached out to HDC for photography they have great prices. The also can do the Altos De Chavon wedding shoot so I'm excited about that.

How/ when is everyone planning to send their save the dates and invitations? I'm still deciding if I should just do everything online and save some.money but I love the passport invitations. Maybe only send invites to confirmed guest? Just curious what other brides are planning

I also contacted HDC and they seem great.  Still waiting to hear back from a few others I contacted.   I do have the prices from Adventure Photos - which is who Dreams Resorts use.  I'll try to attach that here if I can figure it out.. if not I'll send you that too.

I'm not doing Save the dates and as much as I love the passport invites they just aren't very budget friendly.  I am doing these invites off of Etsy :  www.etsy.com/listing/216291256/dominican-republic-wedding-invitation (only ones I could get my fiance' to agree too! haha - good thing I like them as well)   and then doing a website from www.appycouple.com to put all the other information on.  Will cost me under $100 for invites and the website.  I am also sending out invites in the next week or so - that way they have lots of time to book.   Then will probably just send email reminders through my website periodically to those who we don't know if they are coming or not.

Megan you are seriously the best!!!

I love your invitations and I love the idea of having an app. I think its so cool and useful now.  I think I am going to follow your path and send out invitations only. I was thinking of sending save the dates to give everyone a year notice and then follow up with an invite but I can just keep everyone updated through the website.

I found a recent bride on tripadvisor and she recommend her photographer Jorge Allocco he's also on facebook. His website is www.puntacanaweddingphotographer.com and she got her flowers through a local vendor Jardin Constanza and she said the hotel actually gets their flowers from there as well.

you have been so helpful I'm just hoping I can return the favor

I'm so glad I could help... I had tried reaching out to past La Romana brides but could never get a response and glad at least I could help someone.

I will have to check that photographer out.   I wonder if the resort charges for you to bring in outside flowers, because I think their flower prices are ridiculous.

Thanks!

Hi Ladies!

So My wedding is creeping up on me on March 12, 2016!!!   Would you guys know how private the reception is on the beach location? Im contemplating between the beach or restaurant for the reception and I'm anticipating 80 guests! Yikes! I'm hoping it's a bit more private because the cost for a restaurant is tight for my budget.

Hi Ladies,

I just got married at Dreams La Romana on October 23rd, so everything is still pretty fresh! We chose the site the year before during a trip to punta cana , we stayed at Now Larimar, but took a day visit to La Romana! It was the best decision having our wedding there. Yanna & Pirosca were wonderful to work with! We went with the garden gazebo for ceremony, pier for the cocktail hour and sea side grill deck for the reception. We booked when the deck was still $300 but Yanna did say it is now $1000. The beach reception site (free) is a very nice choice and not many people are down by the beach at night so still very private!

The two gazebos are both very private, however in regards to the pier, many people do swim and snorkel near it and that might be distracting during the ceremony. We didn't have this issue during the cocktail hour however I watched other weddings during our vacation that were on the pier and people were swimming around them/making noise etc..

We had chosen the Ultimate package. In the package it says your hair and make up are included, but what it doesn't say is that a trial of both are included as well...this was a nice suprise for me!! You also get two choices for dinner options for guests and they print out a nice menu for each guest. We had Adventure photography during the ceremony and hired HDC for 4 hours as well. Adventure photography did a great job however they are much more expensive! HDC was wonderful and so glad we chose them for our pictures! We loved how they turned out! The videographer included in the package was great too!! They actually had 2 videographers and one showed up to my room 30 minutes before the ceremony to film getting ready etc, the ceremony and after with pictures, cocktail hour etc. They did a wonderful job editing the video (35-40minutes) and is great to show family members that couldn't make it.

We had a group of 25 of us. We did choose to have a dj and so happy we did. We originally wanted the "extra" dj service with more lights, MC etc for $950. Yanna had us go with basic dj service with one speaker/no mc etc and said she would mc. well we saved a lot of money and they had all the lights, extra speakers MC and all! The whole group danced all night and it was a blast!

The food at dinner was great! We chose for the entrees the beef tenderloin with shrimp or the salmon. Everyone said they really liked the food. In addition the food at all of the restaurants was wonderful as well. Good drinks too!

In regards to preferred club: we didn't upgrade. We had planned to after the wedding but never got around to it and enjoyed spending time with our guests/visiting. There are two preferred club areas-family side and adults side. You can pay around $60 extra a day to stay in your regular room and just get the services which are 2 extra lounges, 2 more pools and a different breakfast and lunch restaurant. We viewed a preferred club room-it is newer, but basically the same. No larger at all and same basic set up. But if you did want some privacy from guests it would be a nice option to upgrade so you can "get away."

If anyone has anymore questions feel free to ask! This website helped me so much when planning our wedding :)

Below I have some photos from the wedding/resort taken by HDC :)

Thanks for all of the input! And your wedding looked beautiful!!! In terms of bringing in an outside photographer did they charge you an outside vendor fee? And how did you like the pier for cocktail service? My wedding is coming up  this March so I'm definitely in crunch time. I'm also anticipating like 50 guests. Do you think the seaside grill is my best choice? Sorry for the 101 questions!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
