Help With Wording

Hi everyone I need help with wording some invitations, we're going to have an AHR before we go on our DW, but now here's where I'm lost. I wont be having a bridal shower because I don't want people to think I just want gifts and gifts when they are already spending money to go to our DW. One of my bridesmaids said this AHR should be called a couples shower but not everyone invited to the AHR was invited to the DW so I don't think it should be called a shower. Because we are doing this before our DW, how can I word the invitations?? Any suggestions would be appreciated. thank you!

Hello!

This has come up before but it's been awhile. I personally wouldn't call it a shower as I agree I wouldn't invite people to a shower I didn't invite to the wedding.

I'm also not sure id call it a reception as it's before the wedding.

I remember people calling it a 'send off' to Mexico or whatever destination.

I'll try to search the thread. Stay tuned. Hopefully someone who remembers the thread will jump in.

Congrats on your upcoming wedding!

I don't remember the thread that @@calgarybride2015 was speaking about but if anyone can help with it, she definitely can!

We had an AHR but it was 2 weeks after we arrived home so not the same situation. We just worded ours as a "reception to celebrate their marriage" but again that won't work in your case. I like the idea of a "send off" for your wedding, or you could word it as a "reception to celebrate their upcoming wedding". What about calling it a Jack & Jill rather than a shower? Definitely a tough one. I don't know if any of these will work for you.

Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
