Question About Vow Renewal Gifts

Recommended Posts

I wasn't sure where to post this, but here works :)

I am attending a vow renewal (10 years) in Las Vegas in 3 weeks, yay!!

Anyways, I have no idea what etiquette for gifts is?  I assume you would still get them something right?

@@acw271011 since you are about to renew your vows I would love your opinion.

We were thinking about maybe making them a sexy package and having the hotel deliver it to their room while we are at their renewal. We were thinking a bottle of wine, a nice card, massage oils, bubble bath -- then a little gag with handcuffs, penis candies, condoms, a sexy time book, etc.

Now our friends will NOT be offended by this, they are awesomely fun people, but is that appropriate as a gift?

Would just wine and strawberries be better?

Any ideas are appreciated.

Thank you!!!!!

Hmmm... interesting question and I don't have an answer. You are going to Vegas for this, so already spending extra $$$ to attend. I know a lot of us here, me included, don't want or expect gifts from people coming to our DWs, so maybe this also applies? Also, given that they have been married for 10 years, they probably don't need typical registry stuff. I like what you are suggesting, although maybe a little less sexy? But you know them, so if that works, go for it. :D Or maybe a GC for a restaurant or something back home? If I decided to get something, I would go more on the consumable/experience side, rather than the physical gift side of things.

Thanks :)

While I understand the whole gift thing -- we asked for none, we got a lot. So we just want to do something. I think we will probably just do the wine and strawberries in their room after. Kind if like what we had after our wedding :). Thanks!!

@@vancouverpetunia

I talked to my husband last night about it. He is really into what I said above and wants to go ahead with it.

He thinks it's a fab idea LOL

I don't know !!!!!   Maybe I will just if off at the massage oils and bubble bath... nothing overly kinky hahah!

Hey Kim! We got home tonight after 2 days driving so it's going to take me all week to get caught up here.

Honestly, from everything I've read it doesn't seem that anything more than very small token gifts are given, if at all. I think along the lines of wine and strawberries. Or a bottle of champagne. That kind of thing. But for the most part, gifts aren't given.

I do like your idea but maybe toned down a little? As @@vancouverpetunia said, you know them so know what they would and wouldn't go along with and I think it's a great idea. I would just condense it maybe to be a bit smaller? Does that sound silly? Or do you follow what I'm trying to say? lol  It has been a very long 2 days and I'm not sure i"m making any sense....

I think the sexy stuff is a great idea too :). It doesn't have to be anything crazy, but your ideas were good . I got this book called "The Sex Bible" or something like that for my bridal shower haha. Well, let me tell you that even the parents and their friends were all over that, even if married for 25+ years haha. We all had a good laugh about it and I think if your friends have a good sense of humour they'll appreciate it :). I was surprised, despite the shocking and scandalous pictures, the book is actually quite interesting and informative :P

I love your fun idea! And since you know this couple, you would know best if they'd like a fun gift like that or not :)  I also think things like giftcards to a favorite restaurant or gifting them a couple's massage to somewhere would be a great idea. After 10 years of marriage, it's time for them to celebrate love and romance and keep the passion alive! We just celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary, but collectively we have been together for 16 years now ~ so trust me, when you start to get into the long stretch of the relationship, it's all about "dating" each other again and finding ways to keep the romance alive  ;)

Thanks ladies, now I feel a bit better about it!!!!

I think maybe we will do the wine, massage oil, and 'the sex bible' book :)

@@TinkerSofi, hahah!!! that is awesome. And in all honesty, it's probably a good idea to have those things on hand, especially 25 years into marriage. I can only imagine :) So it's nice to see all ages alike welcomed it

yeah! It's pretty great. I still have to sit down and actually read it haha, I just haven't really had time, but the parts that I skimmed through were pretty interesting. My friends said they got it at Indigo.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
