Wafflesmom Moon Palace Planning Thread - January 23, 2016

I totally love the shoes. Totally something that I would get haha.

I'm happy your friend was able to make it work and come to the wedding. We had a couple that did that too and I'm so happy they came :)

I paid for my Bridesmaid's dresses but it wan't always the plan. I gave them $150 each and the dress they picked was $160 so I wasn't about the make them pay $10 hahah. At the time both of them were students and I didn't think it was fair, both of them were making a huge effort to come spend the week with us :). I let them pick their own dresses as long as they came in the color I picked but they all ended up choosing the same dress. It looked beautiful on everyone :)

@@TinkerSofi thank you so much. I love the shoes, their so girly lol. For my bridesmaids and MOH, I thought the same. They're all making big efforts to come to Mexico so I'm glad I was able to buy their dresses for them.

@@ashhtayy thanks :) I haven't tried on my dress in months and I've been so tempted to try it on lol.

@@Wafflesmom is your dress at home with you? I'm scared to bring mine home lol I want to get it out of the boutique because I'm paranoid that something tragic will happen like a fire or they'll go out of business. How terrible am I to even write that? It's a very reputable Boutique but you never know (especially because they took a cash deal lol).

I think if I have it at home I will try it on 5000x and find something wrong with it. I'm thinking stashing it at my parents might be the best way to go.

@@ashhtayy and @ yup, it's in my closet :) I bought my dress last October and the bridal salon was nice enough to hold it for me until about May. They couldn't hold it for too long since they had to make room for all their new dresses. I was like you and was worried about my dress getting lost, accidentally sold or like you said, lost in a fire. By the way, that totally happened to a bridal store here and a lot of brides lost their dresses (it can happen). I have room in our closet for it and Derrick promised me that he wouldn't peek if we stored it at home. I was going to ask my mom to store it at her house but I was scared it would smell like food! LOL My mom's is your typical Filipino house that smells like home cooking all the time. I was worried the smell of fried foods would stick to the dress....can you imagine walking down the aisle smelling like fried chicken? LOL So it's now in our closet.

I actually look at it every week and love my dress more and more. I've been wanting to try it on but I have no one to help me zip it up. I've asked Derrick if he would help me zip it up (eyes closed). He refused and said he didn't even want to know beforehand what it feels like LOL

@@Wafflesmom & @ i swear i'm not always this cynical haha you mentioned the dress getting lost or sold...those are much more plausible than a fire/out-of-business...and i hadn't even thought of those. i need to get my dress ASAP :)

i bought my dress at Tom Jeon at Steeles and Weston. I thought that was Woodbridge but apparently it is in Vaughan!?

i laughed out loud when reading your comment about walking down the aisle smelling like fried chicken lol

also, adorable that he didn't want to zip you up because he didn't want to know what it felt like. when i asked mike if he wanted to know anything about my dress, mostly because I was excited and wanted to talk about it, his response was "it's white and it's a dress - that's all i need to know". i then had to break the news to him that it was in fact ivory - his response? "those are basically the same colours". oh boys! :)

@@ashhtayy Mike and Derrick sound alike! LOL Derrick has no idea what my dress looks like. It's so funny, everytime I watch "Say Yes to the Dress" I'll ask him if he likes the dress and he won't say anything. He says he's afraid to comment in case he says something critical and it turns out to look like my dress. Smart man! LOL

I hate to even tell you this but that happened to my

BMs sister in law. Fire at a store in Calgary last year. Thankfully they got hers out in time but it smelled of smoke. Was 2 weeks before the wedding :(. Chances are slim though.

Mine hung in my bedroom. Had it on about 5 times from June ish to October when the seamstress took it.

Loved having it to remind me why I chose it or try it on to feel like a princess (or make sure it fit lol) honestly didn't try it on near as much as I thought I would. As it takes effort and help!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
