Wafflesmom Moon Palace Planning Thread - January 23, 2016

We did the dresses as a group (some from a distance) as we had varying sizes of girls (wanted everyone comfortable) and they paid for the majority of them. I picked the color and they picked the style Thankfully that part was easy and we did it early on!! I'm way too controlling to just leave it in their control hehehe. So I feel you!!

@@calgarybride2015 I did the same. I had my bridesmaids pick any grey dress they want. Surprisingly I wasn't as controlling as I thought I'd be. I'm paying for their dresses and so far all have chosen under $200. One picked a $350 dress and I said no way!

Awesome! That would be a tough price tag if you are paying (gulp).

I think I got lucky cause my BM suggested we go look. So we tried them all on and the ones we liked we sent pics to the other girls. They all picked and we ordered. I've heard horror stories on here where BMs order their dresses last minute and leave the bride stressed out. I couldn't have left it to their own devices!!!

I felt so guilty asking them to pay $160 so I helped them out. That's awesome you are doing that for them :)

Re purchasing kids' sizes. Works great for women and I think you can even brag about it. But does anyone remember the episode of Sex & the City where Samantha is dating a short guy and then sees his suit jacket is from Nordstrom's Boys or something? That didn't work out so well. LOL

Oh I'm stressing out about one bridesmaid. I didn't expect her to come to Mexico since it was too pricey for her. She's the only one with kids and it was financially difficult for them. But last minute, she worked out her budget with her husband and she's now coming! So now we're frantically looking for a dress since we're calling it close with a little over 4 months till the wedding. She's been really picky and didn't like anything from David's bridal. So now we're still on the hunt.

I got a promotion at work so I thought paying for their dress was the least I could do. They've been by my side since I was 8, and that type of friendship is priceless

@@vancouverpetunia I totally remember that episode! I can wear kid's size shoes but I'm too curvy to fit their clothes lol

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
