Nkavanaugh Grand Sirenis Planning Thread-May 3Rd,2016

Recommended Posts

i would sign up for the email alerts for wedding chicks so you get an email when the next sale is up! the shipping on the bags was relatively fast, so you definitely have time. I love our bags, they are very good quality and much bigger then we thought!

I just received the table runner and it looks very nice. More elegant then I expected. The sequin is really small and the fabric super thin so it looks very nice. The only downside is it sheds like crazy. I took it out once to show my friend who lives next door, got sequin all over her couch, and then quckly put it back in the bag and stored it. I think if u plan on using it just once, its totally fine and worth the money u will save. I would just preserve them and not take them out of the bag until the day of the wedding. I got champagne and its perfect, not too yellow and not pink at all. I would describe it as light gold. My only concern is if they get creases from being folded for the next 3 months, how to get them out the day of the wedding. I haven't figured this out yet.

@@amyzig2 I'm going to buy them from old navy, just enough to cover the females attending. I would guess the average size is 8, so I will probably get 60% in size 8, 25% in size 9, 15% in size 7 and the rest in size 10. Something like that.

Hi ! Late to the thread, we had 72 guests plus us two and it wasn't too tight plus I think we even had one table removed or moved to the side to make extra space to dance as there were a lot of people no longer sitting at their seats. So see if that's an option for you guys and then just have some seats on the sides of the palapa if need be ?

Are you doing plated dinner or buffet, if buffet that takes up quite a bit of space in the palapa so that's something to consider if you're concerned for space.

I love your dress and the coral colours for your bm's . I'll attach some photos of our girls to show you how nicely yay color popped against the ocean background

Well I have not posted in ages, and I am not sure where the last few months have gone honestly, I literally can't believe how close we are! Final payments are due this week and we've done well so far, my TA tells me between 70-80 have paid I am just waiting for the final list from him! I had some things I am unsure of and wonder if you guys might have some suggestions. I have no idea what to do for a guest book, I am into the idea of a map but I don't want to spend a lot on a guest book, any suggestions what did you guys do/are doing? Also I am not sure whether or not to set up a card box or not? We aren't expecting much but I am not sure I trust anyone in my family under the influence not to lose cards if we did get some LOL. We are still waiting for our coordinator so I am hoping to find out soon who she is! I've been debating whether to use the floral at the resort or bring fake floral, I have heard the real floral dies fast, any suggestions? I have the presidential package so we have quite a bit of floral included. Also any of you previous Sirenis brides can you describe the cake table? Such a random question but is it worth buying a sequin table cover for it? I have a million more questions but its late so Ill stop there!

Emjay I love how your girls look!!! That makes me excited we went with coral, are their bouquets from the resort? They match really well. We were planning to the buffet in the Palapa with about 80 guests, does that seem doable? Were from the East Coast so there will have to be lots of room for "dancing" lol. I don't know if any of you have seen how east coasters dance but they take up a lot of space. Haha!

you're definitely getting much closer to your big day! So exciting. It will fly by!

Instead of a typical guest book we did advice for the bride and groom cards. It was super cute and pretty much everyone filled them out. We got some silly responses and also some really meaningful advice. We plan to read them again on our one year anniversary :)

We brought a card box, but it really just ended up being for the completed advice cards. No one gave us money/cards the day of the wedding. All of our guests either gave us our cards before or after the wedding. They didn't want to bring the money to Mexico and worry about the safety etc.

@@nkavanaugh Welcome back! Amazing to hear you have 70-80 ppl paid! That's awesome.

Like @, we are planning to do "MadLibs" cards. In fact, I may have been inspired by her :) I know it was someone here, anyhow. I'm planning to scan these and make a photobook out of them. Because we are doing this, I am planning to bring a card box, as I will need to collect the MadLibs, even if there is nothing else to collect. Here is a photo of the card:

Hello!!

We did post cards for our guest book! Could easily get them on site but our friend was in Mexico earlier and got us some :). We had a card box more to hold the signed post cards but got used for both. We got a lot of cards!

My floral held up all day and into the next, possibly longer but since I wasn't bringing them home I just let the maid take them! I wouldn't worry about that -- more use fake for price and keeping forever.

The cake table is just a small square table with a white table cloth on it.

With 80 people you will fill the palapa full. They may have to push the tables to the side after dinner so there is more room to dance!! But won't be tough!

Thank you ladies!! I love the idea of the advice cards I think we will do those they'll be really fun to read afterwards!

@@calgarybride2015 do you think a table cover would fit on the cake table or is it to tiny? Did they have another table for your postcards/card box that you put pictures on or anything?

I think I'll use their floral then it doesn't make sense to have paid for something in a package and let it go to waste lol.

Did anyone do maracas as favors? If so where did you get them? :)

Sure you could get a table cover. It just had a white one on it. You could ask your WC for its dimensions.

Yes had a separate table for the post cards, card box, seating chart and pics of us!!

I did maracas as favors. I ordered from Amols. It's a US site but they can ship to Canada. I picked up in Washington. I got the medium size and it was $1.65 for two so a steal of a deal. I wrote our info on in markerand attached a tag with a cute saying on shaking them for a kiss. (Pics in my thread)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
