Congrats on starting your "real" planning thread :) Looking forward to watching everything unfold. We're about a month before you in the Mayan Riviera, too

@@JoannaBanana Congrats on getting your resort, and at an awesome price too! We've been on vacation so I'm late to this party. Sorry. I've heard great things about GS and I considered it but all of our "stuff" is in Playa del Carmen and it's just too far away. I'd spend all my time running back and forth. But from the pics that @@calgarybride2015 posted it really looks beautiful!

Now you'll be able to post all the details about your planning thread. You can definitely rent Microsoft Office like was said. It's worth it and you get Publisher with it so you'd be able to get your invites done much easier I think.

Your ring is gorgeous by the way.

Thanks ladies.

So last night I rented Microsoft Office and fiddled around in the short evening hours that I had available.  I got it looking decent but not quite where I want it to be.  At the same time I was waiting for a response for a quote request from an Etsy vendor.  $800 for 100 invites, and another $125-160 if I want RSVP's included.  Haaaaa.  Sorry.  Maybe that's normal.  But haaaa!!!  I'm sorry I think I've mentioned a few times how cheap I am.  Now I just need to find a nice 80lb cardstock that I could use.  I found the selection at Michael's rather limited, I was hoping for a raw paper look, or light grey.  DIY it is!  Good news is that even though I'm lazy, I'm also pretty artistic.

$800 for 100 invites!?! You are not cheap, that is crazy!  I made my own boarding pass invitations too, everything cost under $70.  You gotta cut corners where you can when planning a wedding!

Congrats on your date!  You are getting married 12 days after me!  Grand Sirenis was one of my choices too, I narrowed it down to that and Grand Bahia Principe and ended up going with GBP because of the cost for our UK guests coming and we got a crazy good quote that was cheaper than Sirenis and beat Romantic Planet's quote by $130pp.

Looking forward to reading your planning thread.  I'll start one when I have time to sit down lol

Congrats again! xo

OMG that quote is just insane! Yeah, maybe I'm cheap too haha. But they're just invites. Looking back I really wish I hadn't obsessed as much over them and I'm glad that I didn't obsess even more. Most of them are probably in the dump by now and after such a long time I still had to remind people of all the info on there time and time again. Definitely not worth $800. I also went the DIY route :)

@@JoannaBanana omg tell me about it.  Both my fiancé and I are in a facebook group for the resort and it's all Brits.  Good thing I love Brits, especially since I'm marrying one lol  :)

The Grand Sirenis also has a facebook group and lots from the UK!

$800 is stupid! I mean I only paid $500 for my dress for crying out loud!  I think for my DIY invites we paid around $35! hahah!

You aren't cheap, you are smart!

@@JoannaBanana congrats on choosing your date and resort! I can't wait to hear more about your planning :)

Oh and I wouldn't consider you cheap, that's a ridiculous quote you received from that etsy seller. For that price, that better involve personal delivery by the seller to each of those invited lol

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
