Dreams Resort Los Cabo Wedding Review (long)

Recommended Posts

I have to agree with what a great review you gave. I've gotten so much info from it, and being new here and just beginning to plan my wedding at Dreams it really has given me lots of ideas! I'm curious about the package too because I havent decided whether to get everything (DJ, florist, cake) separate. Oh and who did you use for music during your ceremony?

Thanks Ladies. The cake Dreams supplies is very basic (although I heard it's delicious). NurseSarah had a Dreams cake and it was yummy and simple but pretty. Originally I wanted writing on my cake and they couldn't accommodate.

While I was planning I heard some not so great reviews of the hair/makeup at the Dreams Spa so I decided to have someone come to the resort. I was able to meet with Octavio the June before our wedding when we went for a site visit and really liked working with him. The Dreams spa is good if you want to keep it simple and bring photos. We had our nails done there and the manicure wasn't any better than what I could have done myself. (Although it was nice to be pampered). Our wedding coordinator hired a trio of musicians to play during the ceremony and also during our cocktail hour. I was expecting more of a mariachi but they just played string instruments. I never heard a word until I was approaching the isle but I'm sure it was lovely.

I'm not sure if Dreams has a DJ as part of their package. I don't remember that but I would ask who the person is and then search here and the web to see if you can find any reviews. Our DJ was great and I'd highly recommend him to anyone. We were in good hands and had a great time with the music he played.

Hi Angela,

I am in the process of planning my Sept wedding at Dreams. I see you did the welcome dinner at Portofino. Yessica told me that they don't do reservations at their restaurants. How did you do your dinner? If you would let me know it would be a big help! I want to do my dinner there also.

Thanks! Karin

Karin,
We actually had a set menu and we were sat on the veranda so we weren't actually in the restaurant.. in fact the food we ate was from their catering menu. I believe it was a mexican buffet. They handled all decor (colored table clothes) and even a carved watermelon as part of the buffet decor. It worked out very nicely. We had a party of 40 or so. I wouldn't recommend much more for that space. We didn't have seating arrangements and guests just picked a table and sat (of course we had the few that moved chairs and squeezed in to sit at one table or another.) The view was pretty and they have a small water pond on the side.

Hi Cheese Diva,

I'm new to BDW and based on your reveiw, I have decided to contact the TA you mentioned. I wanted to know whether there was any extra chare for the dinner on the veranda at Portofino. If so how much? Was it part of AI? I'm looking to have a welcome or rehersal dinner for my guest. Thanks!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
