Hello, my name is Andy, Im getting married in 2 weeks!!! Cant believe how fast its come around!

Anyway, being your typical bloke ive left a few important things till the last minute.

I am really looking for some advice on the "brides gift" from the groom, this isn't something I knew I had to buy! Is this a common thing?

Thanks

Andy

Welcome and congrats.

The gifts to each other are completely optional. Some do them, some don't. In the beginning we had planned not to as we paid for the wedding ourselves but in the end we did some fun gifts. I got my husband a shirt with a saying I knew he'd love and he got me a pandora charm. Nothing over the top!!

That said if you did want to do the gift, a lot of brides do watches, cuff links, boudoir shoots or that sort of thing. You'd be out of time for the photo shoot I'd assume though at this point.

Again it's not a hard and fast rule you have to follow. It'd up to you and your fiancé. Good luck in 2 weeks!

I'd go with jewellery if you can afford it or if she uses it. A nice and classic pair of earrings or a necklace would be nice :). It doesn't have to be anything expensive, just something that she would be able to use for years to come.

It could also be something more sentimental. For example, an engraved photo frame for you guys to put your wedding picture on, or something along those lines. Or for example, a photo book with pictures of both of your and your family throughout the years. I would probably cry if I got that haha. There's some nice online places that let you assemble your own photo book and they print it and send it off to you. It would just be a matter of checking how long they take to arrive.

Omg I apologize. I read it at 7am and totally missed that part. I apologize. You've got some great ideas above -- jewelry, if she collects anything you could get her another piece, a nice framed picture of you two. Maybe something that is sentimental to when you met? Even just a heart felt card.

Congrats Andy! I'm just noticing that you're from where my family are in the UK! Same town! Excellent pubs and pub grub!!

I'm going to chime in with the other ladies and suggest maybe something that your bride could actually wear on your wedding day - either a special bracelet or a necklace of some sort. Then you could have it delivered to her wherever she's going to be so that she receives it right before the wedding along with a really mushy card! Women love that! And I'll agree with the other ladies as well - a lovely framed photo of the two of you, or something that she collects. All good ideas!

Good luck in 2 weeks. Definitely stop back again after your wedding and post a photo or two!

Congrats on your upcoming wedding!!

She doesn't think the engagement ring is present enough? haha just kidding! That's something my fiance would say as a joke.

Check out etsy.com.  You can get personalized picture frames, like mentioned above, or personalized signs.  Here's an idea of what I'm referring to -

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
