Ashhtayy's Planning Thread - Azul Fives - June 7, 2016

@@maria1488 I have my dining room table set up as a guest table right now lol All but one of my runners are still in the bag though so thanks for the advice. I just went and double checked and only one sequin fell off and is on my floor. The sequins are so tiny that I would expect some to come loose but, even at double the price, that would likely happen. I'm meeting with a past bride tonight and will be buying four of her pieces from chair cover factory as well. I'll ask her what she did to get the creases out and get back to you.

@@ashhtayy I love your legal ceremony plans. They sound simple & sweet.

@ Thanks for the giggle. I can totally see my parents weeding the garden if we were to show up for a surprise ceremony, too! Although I don't think they would be hoping for pregnancy as the surprise LOL.

I've heard great things about the Laura mercier translucent powder. I opted for the cheaper kind I can find it like at Walmart, superstore or anywhere that sells elf products. It's the elf hd translucent powder. I do my makeup at 5:45am and then workout after work around 6-7 and my makeup is still in place post sweat fest! I also use urban decay makeup setting spray. So together they do wonders!

@@ashhtayy I love the rings. So funny about your FI wanting to wear his everywhere right away. Kyle is funny about his thinking it will be strange to wear.

I've heard pitting baby powder between your legs helps with the under the dress sweating. I may just try that. I'm so paranoid about being gross when we get back to the room for alone time haha.

Bouquet: my vote is 1 or 4, I think those two look really sweet and romantic, yet they all do so you will do great with any of them. I love mikes response! Typical man.

Your cake topper looks beautiful! So sparkly and pretty! You have to have a cake now! Or maybe do cupcakes with it in two cupcakes?

@@yycbride2016 thanks for the powder tip! I'm always looking for a deal so I like the sounds of that. I'll keep both in mind :)

Baby powder. Yes, I've heard that too. That's a must to add to the packing list lol This may be too much information but I'm not in the slightest bit worried about being too gross when we get back to our room haha My main concern is getting through the ceremony and maybe half of the reception without being a sweaty beast. After that there's only so much you can do lol We will be partying pretty hard that night that even I if we wake up with 6 friends sleeping on our floor and couches I won't even be mad. We have the rest of our lives for that alone time lol

@@vancouverpetunia I'm getting pretty excited for our legal! So simple but it will mean the world to Mike's mom and nonna. Can't wait to see their faces :)

HBC Registry Info

Just an FYI for anyone planning to do a registry; I found something out today that kind of bothered me.

We are registered at HBC and our experience at the store was great. The consultants were really knowledgeable and patient with my indecisiveness.

We hadn't told anyone we did a registry except my mum, Mike's mom and nonna and my MOH. I get it though, some people assume you do a registry and may automatically check The Bay because so many couples use them. The consultant suggested we over scan while we were there, password protect our registry so that we have some time to figure out what we do in fact need, what is overkill, etc and then remove the password so it is searchable. They assured us that this meant that no one could see our registry. Well...that isn't the case. The guest password only blocks people from accessing your registry online but not from accessing it at store level.

We didn't by any means go crazy, we actually didn't scan a whole lot but there were some things on there that I was on the fence about. Example - we scanned two toasters. We don't need two toasters but at the time, we couldn't decide which one we would prefer. You can add and delete any items you like from the comfort of your home but I wanted to go back one more time just to be sure what we had placed on there was what we needed. My Aunt, being super on the ball, went to the store last weekend and printed out our registry and started making comments to my mum about how this and that was discontinued, etc. She was trying to be helpful but one. we haven't even told anyone when the shower is and two. we hadn't released the password.

I called HBC and they apologized stating they didn't realize the password wasn't for in store either. They've corrected this by changing our names which in turns makes it unsearchable online and at store level.

I feel like a brat - my Aunt had good intentions by going to the store early and trying to find some gifts for us - but on the flip side, I am so uneasy about having a shower in the first place I didn't want our "wish list" released without me having the time to go through it with a fine tooth comb.

Anyways, this may seem ridiculous to some but it bothered me enough to share. Moral of this post? Password protection does not help. Alter your names so they can't be searched in order to give yourself more time to make your "wish list" perfect.

@@ashhtayy Love your rings! My e-ring is very different, but we have very similar bands to both of you. Great taste!  ;) We planned to get ours engraved, but neither of us can decide what to put on them, so we are holding off.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
