Everything's coming together nicely! I'm glad that my recommendation for Stemple Shop worked out for you!! Nathan is like a hidden gem and his prices are really really reasonable in comparison to everyone else that makes real touch bouquets.

We used one of our blush tablecloths for our Guest table. Unfortunately that wasn't my first pick as it was actually supposed to be on my head table instead.. lol, but oh well. It ended up looking really nice in all of the pictures and at least our head table had the runner.

Also, i'm not sure if Azul fives is the same, but it looks similar in regards to the ceremony set-up. We rented two crystal curtains for the back of our Chuppah and it worked out perfectly. Anymore probably wouldn't have even fit properly.

As for the cake, that is really tiny! Did they give you any options for pricing on anything a little bit bigger? Like @deecol mentioned, either way it will be nice to have it for the traditional 'cutting of the cake' purpose. We had our cake served to our guests and i'm pretty sure that not everyone ate it since we also had dessert with our dinner package too.

Guestbook looks great and love what you did with it :)

Wedding week activities for us were pretty carefree with the exception of our scheduled dinners. Destination weddings are tough because you have to find an equal balance. We had three private dinners scheduled and that was perfect. I didn't want to require too much time from the group since I wanted it to feel like their own vacation too. Some of us planned an excursion when we got down there (about 15 of us) and that was a lot of fun, but for the most part we all created a chat group on whatsapp and we would message each other and meetup at the beach and most of the time 90% of the group would show up, but there were some of our friends that kept more to themselves and wanted to spend alone time with their significant other etc.

I like Dee's idea of mentioning it casually like "we will be here at 'x' time if you'd like to join us", but honestly I think having some kind of group chat is the best way to go about everything. We all made plans impromptu while we were down there and it worked out well because we would just communicate ideas with each other and go from there. Gave everyone the opportunity without feeling obligated.

Groomsmen/ring bearer attire looks good. I don't think you will have a problem with the gray colour. We had 4 guys in a light-mid gray and Chester sweats very easily.. there were no visible sweat stains on any of the guys.

As for the rehearsal dinner.. We invited all of the guests to the rehearsal dinner. I didn't rent any decor, but I did bring extra votive holders and some battery powered string lights with a rattan ball cover on them. I had Chester and his friends go down to the table ahead of time and put those on the tables. I also requested coloured napkins from my resort and they added those in complementary. It was simple, but looked really nice and plus, I wanted the wedding to be a 'wow' factor so keeping the other events simple really set it up for that once everyone saw how ornate the wedding festivities were.

@ashhtayy wow, everything looks great! Here you were stressing about not having enough time when you've planned so much in just the last few weeks. Your decor is all gorgeous and you're so lucky to get @perianjay's linens. Those sequin tablecloths and runners are beautiful. I do wish we had some too but it's too late now to change decor on my end.

As for the Chargers, that's a ridiculous amount to charge for them! I think our rental is $2.90 for each one. Like everyone said, I don't think you need them, especially with sequin tablecloths.

And that's a tiny cake! But if it's just for cutting and feeding each other, it could be ok. Maybe you could even just bring a fake tier and place it on that??? Not sure how realistic that suggestion is though

As for wedding activities, we've only planned two events, a welcome dinner and the wedding. Everything else can be up to guests since Der and I want them to feel like it's their vacation. We're going to set up group messages on whattsap and go from there.

I can give you a review on grey suits since that's what Der is wearing. That man is definitely going to be sweating so I'll keep you posted

@ashtayy things are really coming together for you! I love everything you've chosen so far. It's going to be a gorgeous even! Very stylish!

I agree that that cake is so tiny. I don't know much about mine but that has definitely got me questioning it haha.

I love the chandeliers! I think it adds a certain level of sophistication! I'm a little jealous!
I love the flower choices you have. So pretty! I love peonies!

That guest book is amazing! I've seen it on Pinterest and around this forum a couple times and I think it's such a great idea.

I agree with your coordinator about the weeks activities. We are making it clear to our guests that by no means do they have to hang out with us the whole week. In fact we are asking that the day after our wedding they let us have the day to ourselves. Gives everyone a break from all the group fun.

I love the suspenders look. My fiancé's groomsmen finally convinced Kyle to re-consider this look but when they all tried it on they looked ridiculous. Some of them have really long torsos while others had really short torsos and they are all built a little differently so it didn't work well.

Keep up the amazing work girl! Looks fantastic

Some (Random) Updates

Picture heavy – I warned you J

Bridesmaid Dresses

I have been waiting on one bridesmaid to go to the store to re-try on the dress so that we could confirm her size. That is now complete and the order has been officially placed! Dresses will be in mid-April.

Ceremony – 4PM on 06/07/2016

I’ve rented two white sheers, a crystal chandelier and three panels of beaded back drop for the gazebo.

@TinkerSofi – if you see this, do you think two white sheers is enough? The WD said that is all we need but by the looks of most pictures they have 4. Is 2 enough since we will have the beaded backdrop along the back?

Thank goodness I asked and didn’t just assume because I thought that since we were having our ceremony and reception on the Sky Deck they would leave all that décor up but apparently they don’t?! I made a request that they keep that décor up on the gazebo for the reception. If they are not willing to leave it up I may cancel the rental. Seems silly to pay all that money just to have them take it down 30 minutes later?

I wanted to confirm the set-up of chairs on the Sky Deck so that I could decide how many flower arrangements we needed for the row ends. The WD said that is completely up to us but recommended rows of 4 or 6, aisle, then another 4 or 6. We have decided to go with 6, aisle, 6.

Reception – 6PM on 06/07/2016

With the Always and Forever package we get white linens. Here’s the plan:

Head Table – three rectangular tables covered with a white tablecloth and three sequin overlays in champagne (Mike & I + 5 Bridesmaids and 5 Groomsmen)

Cake Table – square table with sequin tablecloth in champagne

Miscellaneous Table – rectangular table – not sure if we will go with another overlay like the head table, a full sequin tablecloth or a runner. TBD. I think this table will be used for our guestbook frame, our pictures of our grandparents who have passed on, our polaroid camera and our place holders.

Guest Tables –5 or 6 round tables covered with a white tablecloth and a sequin runner in champagne

I’m purchasing three of @perianjay ‘s runners as well as her cake tablecloth. I’ll buy the overlays and other table runners from the same site she did – Chair Cover Factory. I lucked out big time J

I asked today about the cost of coloured napkins and charger plates. Coloured napkins are $5 each and charger plates are $10 each. I immediately decided to forego the napkins – white will do…UNLESS I can get a killer deal on some online. I REALLY want the charger plates since we are sticking with the white tablecloths but $10 each, really? Looking for other options and very open to suggestions J

For our center pieces and décor we’ve purchased gold mercury votives, clear smaller votives, clear mason jars, tea lights, three different gold mercury larger votives and the ‘M & A’ marquee lights customized with gold and champagne coloured chevrons. The plan for the clear votives and mason jars is to spray paint them in gold. I’ve purchased the spray paint but haven’t started the work on them. Still deciding whether or not we need more décor on our tables.

I've tried to create all our signage. I am good with computers but designing is not my forte lol I have 'designed' (I say 'designed' because it's amateur for sure) our table numbers and signage such as something recognizing those that have passed on, an itinerary, cards sign, hashtag sign, guestbook frame sign, etc. I still need to pick up frames for everything but I am holding off until I see how it all prints. Fingers crossed.

Dinner - we’ve decided to go with the Italian family-style dinner. Mmm!

Cake – so I saw photographs of the actual cake and OMG. We can’t do what we had originally planned. It literally looks like a cupcake on steroids. It is SO small! I knew the dimensions beforehand but seeing an actual photo of one decorated made me change my mind. Mike agreed. Thinking about upgrading to the one tier cake. I'm including a picture so you can see where I am coming from haha Where do they get off calling this a 'large cake'?

DJ – We have to make a decision here too. Mega DJ, DJ All Music OR wedding DJ app. I am terrified of the wedding DJ app (although I have read great things). Apparently we cannot even pay the vendor fee of $800 and bring in another DJ. I am not complaining, just a little surprised they aren’t trying to get that money from us too lol. The less options the better I guess J

Flowers

Following @perianjay ‘s lead again and using her etsy vendor for our flowers – Stemple Shop. We have been speaking with Nathan for about a month and he is fantastic. We are ordering ivory and blush real touch peonies. Our order thus far includes my bouquet, 5 bridesmaid bouquets, 4 wrist corsages, Mike’s boutonniere, 5 groomsmen, father x 3 and ring bearer boutonnieres and potentially 8 aisle bouquets. All are wrapped with jute ribbon.

Details…

-          My bouquet will be a combination of blush and ivory peonies (3 bunches) with lambs ear, baby’s breath and seeded eucalyptus.

-          My bridesmaid’s bouquets will be ivory peonies (1 bunch) with lambs ear, baby’s breath and seeded eucalyptus.

-          Mike’s boutonniere is a blush peony boom with a peony bud.

-          The groomsmen’s boutonnieres are an ivory peony bloom with a peony bud.

Guest Book Frame

I’ve known for a while I wanted a guest book that we could proudly display in our home. I found an etsy vendor that makes custom maps – HereAndThereShop – and we love their work. The picture I have included is just an example from their shop.

We’ve chosen a map of North America that will be in a light grey. Both British Columbia and Ontario will be highlighted in white with a little heart as a maker. Both provinces will be connected by a dotted line that loops into a heart. From there a dotted line with a little airplane connects to Mexico which will be highlighted in white as well. I am SUPER excited about this purchase. I cannot wait to see their custom design for us. I’ve sent all our specifications and am waiting for their design J

Hair & Make Up

Made the reservation for my hair and makeup trials as well as wedding day appointments for myself, my mum and my bridesmaids. Waiting on the resort to confirm the reservation.

We’ve decided to use our voucher from our TA for the Bridal Spa Package. This includes: manicure and pedicure for me, manicure and pedicure for someone in my bridal party, my rehearsal hair and makeup, and my wedding day hair and makeup.

Thoughts on timing…

I scheduled the rehearsal hair and makeup for the day before our wedding so that its done for our rehearsal dinner. If we are getting married at 4PM, does it make sense to start hair and makeup at 11AM? We are not doing a first look (sadly).

Rehearsal and Rehearsal Dinner

I was pretty bummed to find out that we won’t know timing for our actual rehearsal until we get to the resort. I get it, they want to keep their options open for other weddings but it would have been nice to be able to let the wedding party know in advance. Our rehearsal dinner will be semi-private at Flavors and we will have our bridal party, their significant others and our immediate family there. We still have to select the menu. I do not plan to have any decor for our rehearsal dinner. Is that okay?

Wedding Week Activities

I want to give all guests an itinerary that says what our plans are. Example: Monday – Pool Party! Thursday – Meet us on the volleyball courts! I do not want anyone to feel like they have to come I want to leave it optional. Unfortunately the “monthly activity schedule” doesn’t come out until a month before so it is hard to say when the volleyball nets will be set up. My WD said that making an itinerary could make guests feel like they have to attend even if we state it is completely optional. She said what some brides do is hashtag their plans. Example: our hashtag and then a picture of us in the pool. I like this idea a lot but in terms or social media we only have Instagram and LinkedIN (lol). Not everyone has Instagram so that may not work for us. Still brainstorming.

My Dress

My dress is still at the store that I purchased it from. I haven’t contacted them once and as I write this I am freaking myself out. I am going to call them Monday and schedule my fittings. AHH. Good thing I started back at the gym this week. Just kidding. WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG TO GO BACK TO THE GYM? lol

Mike, Groomsman & Ringer Bearer Attire

I keep asking him what he wants to wear and he kind of shrugs it off; absolutely no sense of urgency when it comes to this. Work is a bit insane for both of us right now but as soon as it slows down we’ll get to shopping. I’ve shown him a few of these photos and he’s on board. We both would like to go with a grey but my concern is sweat. A friend of mine went to a destination wedding in Jamaica and she said grey wasn’t a good look on the guys because they sweat through their pants. I see a ton of ladies on here that go with grey. Has this been a problem for anyone?

Sorry to take so long to reply! We used only 2 sheers, at $100 a pop, I thought I was gifting them enough of my money already haha. They actually kept the sheers for the dinner I think, you know, I actually never checked and I just realized that haha, but you are better off letting them know just in case :)

I love the idea for the guestbook, I think it will be an nice keepsake.

As for the suits, I think that if it's more of a darker grey, not the super light one you shouldn't be able to see the sweat. It is a possibility with the really light ones but personally I haven't heard of anyone else saying that.

Just an idea for the cake, how about asking them to have a two tier cake, with a bigger "fake cake", if the small one is enough for your guests. It can be made out of styrofoam (spell check on me here) and decorated just like the real one. No one will know the difference, and you'll only eat the top, smaller cake. I just came back from Argentina where we had our family reception and that's what we did to make it look nice without having too much cake.

I'm sure you'll be fine with your dress. I just ate like a pig for 2 weeks while in Argentina and feared that my dress wouldn't fit for the reception but luckily it did :)

@ashhtayy  So I'm playing catch up with a bunch of threads and i apologize that yours is one of them!! I had to read like 10 pages to get it all together! (well maybe not quite that many but you get the idea lol)

You've accomplished so much and it's all coming together so beautifully!  I totally agree for keeping up your decor! I can't see them arguing to take it down. You're paying for it! I'm sure they'll work with you. The resorts have so much experience with weddings that unless it's something totally outrageous, they'll accommodate wherever they can.

$10 for chargers????? For real???? That's nuts!! You could order cheaper and take them with you for less than all of that. I have to agree with everyone else - save the money! Maybe put it towards a larger cake? Would that help? You're right. That cake is super tiny!! I won't tell you what we paid for ours lol And it was 2 tiers!! We did like Kim and took it back to our resort from the restaurant and snacked on it through the week, plus used it for dinner dessert one night in one of the a la cartes. We just told them it was our "wedding" cake and they didn't argue! lol

So backing up a bit.... I have to get on board with the others about a 2 hour cocktail hour. It is a long time and if people are going to be standing around I think one hour is plenty. i also agree though that it's an all inclusive. Drinks are already paid for. Why not just set it up that everyone can meet at one of the bars or whatever and relax with a drink while you're doing photos. Especially in June when it's really pretty hot! As much as the Skydeck gets a beautiful breeze, it's still daylight until 9 pm in June so you'll still have a lot of sun. It's going to be warm and people will want drinks. Ultimately your budget will likely be a major factor in terms of adding extra reception time, but I'm also worried about trying to cram your photos into one hour. I'm almost inclined to go with a good hour and a half. We were only 4 and we did an hour oh pictures so with the size of your group I would definitely go longer. And on top of that not doing a first look? Ouch. Have you talked to your photographer?? What's their opinion? That's your best bet to decide - what does the person taking your photos want to do? Your menus look yummy! I think taking the spa credit is a great idea! That alone is a major cost saver!

On the same topic, if you can convince hubby to be to do a first look, I highly recommend it! I'm so glad Doug and I did it. I did ask him what he wanted to do and how I felt about it and we both agreed that it being just the two of us was nice. More relaxing.

I love your vows books! lol They're the same as ours except I opted for colour for ours. And I used Noteworthy. Lisa was great to work with and checked with me every step of the way since I wanted to go with colours to make sure they worked with what I wanted. I would definitely recommend her if someone is looking for vows books, and of course with her being in canada it made the shipping next to nothing.

I would do your fingers and toes at home before you go. Spa prices will be crazy. You'll get a much better deal here than down in Mexico.

I'm sorry about all the crap with your TA. i sometimes wonder how some of these people find their way into the industry and actually manage to stay there!! We had one that helped us out with Jamaica when we got married and when i went back to her for our renewal trip, she was useless so I can sympathize. It's so important to have someone that you click with but also listens to you and cares about what you're doing, namely your wedding. Plus it's so hard when your guests aren't getting properly looked after as well, and they have issues with the service they're getting. I hope it has worked out better now. I know you're really close, but it's never too late to go with someone else. A really good agent will be able to just move right in and take over for you properly and have things running smoothly. I'm sorry you lost a couple of guests. it's definitely a common thread through everyone's planning!

Love the letters! Isn't @perianjay amazing??? I'm thinking I should get letters made just to put in the house! They look so totally cool! lol I like both patterns for the background but the chevron definitely works! I'm thinking I need to find out what Perian would charge..... lol  I want to do the song lyrics too! I absolutely LOVE that idea! And they would look so nice on the wall!

I love your pictures of the decor! The flowers are gorgeous!!!! I know @perianjay raved about Stemple Shop for her flowers. Sounds like you're having a good experience too! We did a picture frame guest "book" when we got married at our AHR when we had everyone there and it's hanging in the house. I love it.

Love the guys' outfits. They look great!!

I wouldn't be overly concerned about activities. If you have one or two things available, be sure you word it maybe as "please feel free to join us on _______ day at ___ time. We're going to _____ "  That way you don't make it sound like it's mandatory or anything and it gives people the choice. I agree - it's their vacation too. People will do what they want, whether it's joining you or doing their own thing. Our friends did their own thing part of the week and joined us the rest of it but we always met up for dinner at night.

Less than 5 months to go and it's going to go quick!! You've seen how much the time flies for all of the other brides! You have everything under control - I can tell that just by reading so relax. Don't stress!! it will all come together beautifully and you'll be a gorgeous bride!!!

Looking forward to meeting you on the 29th!!! (at last lol)

@ashhtayy I'm just catching up on the threads tonight as Sean (my husband!! so fun I can say that now) naps..haha. We had a lot of sun today and a really nice candlelight dinner so we're a bit wiped.

I'll go over a bunch of these things in my review and we can chat more about it in person at the GTA meet up but here are some of my thoughts.

Hair & Make Up - I think 11am is perfect timing - just to confirm this is just for hair and make up? Either way you should be fine but I did my hair, make up and mani and pedi all on the day of my wedding. I started at 10am and my wedding was at 4:30pm but our first look was at 3:00pm. We had enough time to have lunch in between. I was a bit late to the first look but that wasn't due to the spa lol! I had 3 bridesmaids do hair and make up and 1 bridesmaid just do hair the same day. We all had staggered times but it worked out.

I did my trials the day before and asked if they could just change it slightly for the rehearsal dinner. They actually gave me an completely new hairstyle without any extra charge. The spa is really amazing at what they do and so lovely. I had Andrea and she was fantastic but all of my bridesmaids loved their hair and make up from their various stylists. One thing to note about the free spa package (GIVC/GIWC) is that they do charge you for tax and tip on all the services for the rehearsal, actual hair and make up for the day and the mani/pedi. I wasn't aware of this and was a little surprised but I still think it was totally worth it. They charge in pesos as well so don't be alarmed with the number lol!

Rehearsal dinner & ceremony - I really wanted to know ahead of time about the rehearsal ceremony too but like you said they won't know until you get there with the schedule. Since we had our wedding on the terrace we had to work around other people's cocktail hours as it is a popular location for that. We ended up doing our rehearsal ceremony at 1pm the day before the wedding. We scheduled it at the onsite meeting and the WC meets you and is great at walking everyone through where they need to be and when.

As for the rehearsal dinner you will be totally fine without decor. The only thing I would suggest is that if you have kids in your group to make sure you go over the kids menus. This was the only thing that really went wrong but even that wasn't a huge deal. I asked at the onsite meeting how this would be organized. As they recommended I had all of the selections done ahead of time but they coordinators were worried about kid's seeing other kid's choices and wanting something else which is totally reasonable. I asked if they could just take the orders in the moment but they said the wait time from placing the order to delivering the food would take too long compared to the adults who already have the set menu. I had made kid's menus ahead of time to help with this but they said they didn't need them. I should have gone with my gut instinct and used them anyway because when it came time to serving the meals the servers didn't know which kid had ordered what meal and the parent's couldn't remember either because they had made their selections so far in advance. Sean ended up running back to the room to get the menus I made and handed them out (he could tell I was a bit stressed about seeing the kids waiting for their food and getting the wrong meals). The servers did make it up to us but that was just a little bump in the road during our amazing wedding week.

I would also suggest thinking about a seating plan for the rehearsal dinner. This completely slipped our minds and we didn't think about it at all and everyone was a little confused as to where to sit when they arrived. That was a mistake on our part, we should have thought about this a little more. We used our full 40 people for the semi-private dinner so it was a large group to arrange on the fly.

Ceremony decor - they will definitely leave the decor up you just have to let them know you want it that way. I asked for all of my ceremony flowers to be transferred over to our reception location and they did it no problem.

Wedding activities - like the other ladies have mentioned you will definitely run into people especially at Azul Fives but it is helpful to create either a whatsapp group or Facebook group to just let everyone know where you'll be. People will want to find you so they will be appreciative of the info. We did informal drinks at the Cantina on the first night, the rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding, the wedding and then an informal farewell breakfast. Outside of that we would just let everyone know where we were going for drinks that night or if we were by the pool or beach during the day. You'll find some will love the beach and infinity pool and others will love the lazy river pools and the new pool in the Essence section. Everyone does their own thing but it does just work itself out.

Can't wait to finally meet you in person in a couple of weeks and I can give you the full details in person!

    @deecol @perianjay @Wafflesmom @yycbride2016 @TinkerSofi @acw271011 @snswedding2016

Because I'm so behind in my replies I figured I'd combine my responses.

Thanks for the reassurance that I still have time. You ladies are a godsend. I'd show up with three things planned if it wasn't for this forum lol My friends refer to you all as my internet pen pals - kills me every time they say it. So excited to meet some of you at our BDW date night :)

Chargers - I went through some other threads and found some past brides that listed a few sites they looked at for chargers. Web Restaurant Store or Save on Crafts both seem to have very reasonable prices. May look into purchasing from one of those sites and haul them down. Mike almost had a heart attack when I told him the price. He was so happy to see that I too thought it was ridiculous to rent them from AF.

Miniature Cake Oddly Described As 'Large' - Since I jumped the gun and already ordered the cake topper I feel we have to have a cake lol I guess we could just use it for my shower though? Still unsure what to do. Only thing I know for sure is we won't be having the 'large' cake pictured above. I can't remember if Steph had a cake but I'll wait to see her pictures and maybe I'll be inspired to bite the bullet and go with a larger one. Sofi, is fake cake an option that you know of at AF? Or were you suggesting I bring it down with me? That's an alternative I would go for as we don't plan on serving even the real cake.

Guestbook Frame - Dee: steal away! That's what this forum is for, right? Such a great keepsake. I'll be happy to have it hanging on the wall for years to come.

Wedding Week Activities - You're all right. Maybe I am putting too much emphasis on this. Since our resort is on the smaller side it shouldn't be too difficult to find people. What's App is a great idea and we will keep people updated via Instagram. That may be sufficient.

Guys Attire - We actually went to Moores on Monday and checked out a few options. My husband-to-be who was wholeheartedly against a suit jacket found a linen one with matching vest he loved. Problem...no matching pants. WHY? Why not make a matching pant? I don't get it. They found pants that they say 'went' with the jacket and vest but I felt it looked as if it was a pair of pants trying to match a jacket and vest. Didn't work for me. Mike thought I was crazy. This coming from the guy who thinks its okay to wear mismatched socks because 'who cares? They're socks!' For a fashionable guy I will never understand how he thinks it's okay to not wear matching socks lol Back to the jacket and vest - it's a shame because they were perfect. They had them in a blue that would have looked great with my girls blush dresses. Off to Yorkdale tomorrow - fingers crossed we find something :)

Good tip on bringing him multiple shirts. I've read that before and definitely plan to do the same. He sweats. Man sweats. It's needed. Too bad buying two identical wedding dresses wasn't in the budget because I wouldn't mind a change of dress in that heat ;)

Glad to read grey wasn't a problem for you ladies. Dark grey may be the way to go unless we can find something in the beautiful navy blue again. Jerilee - I'll be looking for your take on the grey post wedding - thanks!

Flowers - Perian, do you remember how long it was between you placing your order and receiving your flowers? I'm trying to push confirming the order until I get a better idea of how many tables we will have. I think Nathan may let me pay the deposit and start the design and then let me add to it before shipping. He said he could wait and ship closer to our date but I'm just nervous to make the move and then have numbers change drastically.

Rehearsal Dinner - Okay so no decor or minimal decor should be fine. Happy to read that as I've been getting nervous about how much we are bringing with us to the resort. Steph, assigned setting - check and kids menu - check! THANK YOU!

Ceremony Decor - Sofi, glad to hear two sheers is enough and that they kept them up. Glad I specified because although I may not have noticed they were down I would have been upset later realizing we paid that money for such a short period of time.

My Dress - I called today to see if I could book my first alterations appointment for February and she kindly laughed and said no lol She said too many brides bodies change drastically and I should wait until much closer to our date. She said to wait until April. She did confirm my dress was safe and sound at the boutique and I need not worry about it as they've never misplaced a brides dress before. Comforting? Not sure haha

Cocktail Hour - Ann, thanks for the timing tips. No first look means we will need more time. I'm really leaning towards not hosting a cocktail hour (or 2) and mentioning an optional location to meet for drinks and leaving it at that.

First Look - This is a battle that I have given up on. It's never been a battle exactly but last night I decided I'd stop even asking...or continue reading him sites that state all the reasons why a first look is a great idea. Mike looked me square in the eyes last night and said "stop trying to take away the one thing I look forward to most at our wedding - I'm so excited to see you for the first time as you walk down the aisle. I will not budge on this". And that was the end of that. He's really letting me take full reins on every other aspect so it's the least I can do. No first look. As I mentioned before our photographers are our friends and they will be there the entire week with us. We aren't constrained to a strict timeline that we have them for on our big day on our big day so I think we will end up with more than enough pictures regardless. Wishful thinking anyways :)

Vow Books - I love ours! And yours. And Perian's. Lisa at Noteworthy is great. All brides interested should check her out. Prices were excellent as well!

Spa (rehearsal and wedding day) - Ann, my mani and pedi is actually included so thankfully that isn't an added expense. But will I want to do that day of? I doubt it. I'll likely show up with my nails and toes shellac'd (?) to save some time. Steph - thanks! The reassurance about timing is what I needed :) So happy you were happy with the ladies at the spa. I never doubted it would be great but how lucky am I to hear it first hand? Great info about the taxes and tips. I assumed there was a 'catch' but if they work hard I am more than happy to pay the extras. Love that they restyled your hair for you at no extra charge. My plan is to have it done before our rehearsal dinner as well. I hope I get the same treatment and get a second style. Fingers crossed.

Bridal Shower - My MOH told me tonight at hockey that all my girls have confirmed that April 10th works and that will be the day of my shower. I've been on the fence for ages about even having a shower - feeling that I shouldn't have one because we are having a destination wedding and people are spending lots to come. My MOH has been determined to have one since day one saying destination wedding or not, you deserve everything everyone else has to look forward to leading up to their wedding. It will be small (about 20 females) and at my MOHs house. The more we talk about it the more and more real this wedding becomes. I'm pretty excited.

Registry - Again, I was on the fence big time but if a shower is happening than a registry kind of needs to happen. People that can't come keep asking Mike and I and our families what they can get us. I say nothing but they don't accept that. A registry will hopefully solve that going forward. We're off to the Bay tomorrow to scan. Also pretty excited about this but still feeling a little uneasy about the whole gift thing.

Bachelorette - We decided to do a night out in Toronto. Other than the day (May 7th) I'm being kept in the dark which is super fun. Not sure what tricks the girls have up their sleeves but they're crazy and I'm sure it will be awesome.

I'm a big Justin Bieber fan. Yep. Almost 30 and I'm putting it out there. I of coarse am going to his concert in May and REALLY wanted to combine the concert with my bachelorette. Sadly the concert is on a Thursday so that didn't work for most of my girls. The concert is on May 18th and it will be myself, my MOH and one of my bridesmaids. It will likely be the last big fun night out before our trip to Mexico. I will 100% be taking Friday off work ;) CANNOT WAIT.

@ashhtayy I forgot to mention in my last post that Sean and his guys wore grey and you couldn't see any major sweat marks. lol! We went with a medium grey, all the guys were in grey pants and white shirts and Sean in the same with a grey vest. We brought an extra white shirt as well as undershirts but didn't need it in the end.

I put a deposit down on my flowers ten months out, then I paid the other 50% and had them shipped in October. They didn't take very long to get here from.. Oregon? I think haha.
I got them early since I had some adjustments to do. I know that he likes to wait a bit longer because of storage purposes. He says they should be stored in a dark place in vases so they don't lose colour from the sun etc. So I just trusted him and waited 8 months or so.. Then I had them shipped. Our original plan was for him to ship them a month before, but I changed that once I realized I was going to be adding to my bouquets.

Chester sweats like no other.. I'm not even exaggerating..and I saw zero sweat stains on him. We didn't bother with a second shirt. By the time we finished pictures and got to the reception the sun had set and the heat died down a lot. He took his jacket off after dinner and it was completely fine.
I had sweat dripping down my legs the entire ceremony and it takes me a lot to sweat.. Honestly I hate to say this but the whole sweating thing will definitely happen regardless so I'd say don't worry too too much.. Just go with the flow. Destination weddings are what they are and we all laughed about it. Our guests totally understood that. One of them was sweating profusely in a tommy Bahama shirt haha.. Just from the 15 min ceremony.

I do have a recommendation for you though. If you don't know about it already, you should buy from sephora 'laura Mercier translucent powder' it was such a God send. I used a ton of it on my face that day and it kept my face from ever getting oily or wet. After our ceremony I took Chester to our room and I put it on his face because he can get that 'shine' after he sweats a bit. It cut out all of that and kept his face dry looking the rest of the night. It's completely translucent and has no colour or powder look once it's on. I recommend it highly. It was actually my make up artist from my bachelorette who raved about it.
