Ashhtayy's Planning Thread - Azul Fives - June 7, 2016

Aw congrats on everything, new job, new house, and of course your beautiful dress! You look stunning in it. It suits you perfectly! I agree that the belt is a must. I'd check etsy or any bridal shops that are having an end of season sale or closing down. You can get some good deals that way. Congrats again!

@@ashhtayy your dress is beautiful!!!

If you want to go a creative route and less expensive for the belt I would suggest checking out Sussman's bridal (since you're in Toronto). It is a little hole in the wall packed with bridal accessories on Queen West. They have tons of options to do custom made items (hair pieces, veils, belts etc). The price will be based on the style, length (half or full belt) and the labour cost. Now to be fair I haven't seen their final products but a lot of other places recommend them and it's probably worth checking out to see if there is anything you like.

I've also been severely neglected my planning thread. I'm trying to catch up on everyone's and hopefully later this week I'll have some stuff to update my thread with too!  :)

@@maybeoneday thank you!

@@yycbride2016 thank you! great ideas - I'll check for stores that are closing shop and I'm bound to find a great deal.

@@snswedding2016 thanks for recommending Sussman's. can't hurt to check it out next time I'm downtown. I'm so excited to find the perfect belt.

@@Wafflesmom thank you! the deal hunter in me was quite proud with that price. just means I can spend that money somewhere else, likely more flowers!

ps. Sadly I didn't get a chance to check out your jeweller. before we knew it our vacation was up. we'll be out west soon enough I'm sure. we said we wouldn't go until after the wedding but I can't see my fiancé going that long without seeing his family. If we haven't found our rings by then we will definitely pop in :) thanks again for their contact information.

@@deecol I was experiencing serious withdrawals but knew if I opened the website I wouldn't be able to put it down lol thanks so much. So relieved!

@@ashhtayy that is seriously a great price. It's such a beautiful dress and it hugs you in all the right places! Derrick and I ended up getting both of our rings from our jeweler. I will post it on my thread tonight. He was definitely great to work with and pricing was great (although we did end up going over-budget on Derrick's ring....yup, the man who initially didn't even want a ring!) LOL

@ SO exciting. we take possession tomorrow but the BIG move is next Wednesday because Mike is NYC for work (poor him, right?).

thanks! i love the dress. when i got home and looked at the pictures i was less than impressed though BUT i can remember how I felt in it and that was pure joy. lets just say my mom and MOH should stick to their day jobs and leave photography up to the pros :) (ps. i would have taken the exact same shots - it's so hard to get a good picture because the lighting is so different in the bridal stores...that's my excuse anyways)

@@Wafflesmom thank you! i'll keep an eye out for your bands. so exciting!

@@calgarybride2015 thank you!! obviously the model is gorgeous but I also don't love the pictures of her in it. I figured it was the colour and the missing belt that I didn't like. Looks too...non-bride'ish' in those pictures.

ps. kim, we're best friends after that compliment.

  • 1 month later...

Okay so I have been COMPLETELY absent from this site for a very long time (since the day we took possession of our house). I've wanted to log on so many times but have found myself WAY too overwhelmed. Between my new position at work, my FI's new job and us moving into our house I have done zero wedding planning. I LOVE seeing what you ladies are dong because it encourages me to get going but at the same time it freaks me out because I am so behind.

A few months ago my maid of honour planned a bridesmaids outing for today. They booked two appointments and made reservations for a lunch in between. The first store we went to was perfect. It had a bridesmaid room that had 5 change rooms and its own private pedestal for the girls to showcase their beautiful gowns. After I saw them in this dress, nothing compared.

What do you ladies think? I have also included a picture of a necklace I like that will add something special to look.

Dress - Front

Dress - Back

Necklace

It's a Sorella Vita dress. Style number is 8562. They only had black in the store but the dress does come in blush. Although I don't love the photos of the blush dress (seems SO pink and I am not a pink girl), the dress itself looks amazing on all the girls. I'm terrified to order a dress in a colour I haven't seen in person but I think we may bite the bullet and place the order.

I will post on your threads soon. Can’t wait to catch up on all your work!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
