Ashhtayy's Planning Thread - Azul Fives - June 7, 2016

Recommended Posts

@@ashhtayy The choices for the welcome cocktail at the sky deck should be on the first email you got. There's one document explaining all the perks at the sky deck, and the options are right there :)

I chose my hair appointment about 3 months out. I also asked and you can change things around once you get there. I budgeted for extra time for my hair because hairdressers never take into account the amount and length of my hair, and then complain that it takes them so long and they're late. I'll see how the trial goes, and if less time is needed, I can just change it up before the wedding. So definitely don't stress about that right now. In a few months, I'd pick the day of your trial and then a tentative time for your wedding day hair and makeup. They told me to budget 2 hours for both of them on the day of, so I budgeted anywhere from 2.5-3. It's always better to have extra time rather than to run around trying to play catch up.

@@TinkerSofi yes, i missed it. what did you pick? if i didn't have to consider mike's choice i would be going with the bellini or sangria lol he is on a work trip but gets back friday - i will run it by him :)

smart call extending your hair appointment! you are FULL of great tips. thank you!

Thanks for the tip! I will probably order 5 sets :)

@ here are some details:

  • Cost - $13USD each (rather than $14.75USD)
  • Shipping - $27USD
  • Ordered - 5 on 03/26/2015 & a 6th on 03/29/2015
  • Shipped - 04/06/2015
  • Delivered - 04/14/2015

I'm either super impatient or the date of delivery is incorrect. It felt as if they took 3 weeks to arrive but etsy says i got them 8 days later. either way, they arrived, they're adorable and all the girls loved them :)

@@TinkerSofi it was REALLY hard to wait until i finished the boxes to ask my girls. some of them told me afterwards they were like 'what the f, why isn't she asking us?' lol so, it actually may have been more kind to ask everyone right away. we were engaged in October and i didn't ask anyone until the end of April and early May. i knew who i was asking the entire time, i just wanted the proposal to be perfect haha

@Ashhtayy I love the "proposal" boxes to your wedding party! Those are so adorable. I had originally wanted to do that for mine but I just mailed them cards since we dont see each other very often. I'm sure your wedding party loved them! WIll you FI do anything special for his groomsmen too? I had to force my FI into handing out cute cards that had a bowtie on them that said "your service as a groomsman is required" (or something along those lines). Can't wait to hear more!

@@yycbride2016 thank you! i saw your cards and they were great. i'm sure your girls and your FIs guys loved them!

Mike was thinking of using fiverr to propose. for those of you unaware of fiverr...check it out. basically you can pay strangers $5 to do just about anything - edit your essay, create a video for you, etc. anyways, we found this guy that makes these super offside and hilarious videos and he will say whatever you want. we thought that would be a funny way for him to propose because we thought he wouldn't be able to see his groomsmen in person for awhile. all that changed because we are going to be there for 10 days in august. still looking for an idea or a gift for them!

We had picked the mojito at first I think but then someone said it was disgusting so we switched it to sangria. Hopefully that's good!

Bellini is probably really good too!

Potential Colour Scheme & Bouquet Inspiration

Seeking advice from brides and brides-to-be!

I am in love with neutral colour pallets. The only thing I’ve known from the beginning is that I wouldn’t have ‘one’ particular colour; there is no way I could pick! I think I have narrowed it down to two colour pallets and I’d love your advice. I realize that we all have our own tastes so my question is not whether you like what I have selected (although I hope you do) but rather, do you think the pallets I have proposed are doable?

I’ve read in a few of your threads that after picking your colours or colour pallets that you struggled to find certain items that matched, ex. bridesmaids dresses, florals, chair sashes, etc. Based on your shopping experiences, how do you think I will do with these combinations? I feel since they are neutral I shouldn’t have a problem but hey, where’s the harm in asking?! :)

Thanks in advance!

PS. Mike is in BC for work and I text him the two colour pallets and asked for his opinion - his response "I like it, baby!" Gee, thanks for the input lol I guess I should be thankful he isn't demanding a Vancouver Canucks wedding theme. I’m sure when it comes time to pick the cake he will try and get some blue and green in there. He makes me laugh because he doesn’t see the need for things to match. When it took me ages to pick a STD because I wanted it to ‘match’ our wedding website he thought I was being ridiculous. I can only imagine what our wedding would look like if he designed everything.

Colour Pallet - 1

Colour Pallet - 2

Bouquet - 1

Bouquet - 2

Bouquet - 3

Bouquet - 4

I googled bellini's after reading your post and no they don't have to be frozen but in my opinion they ALWAYS should be. I am totally craving a Milestones bellini right now.

Also, don't judge but I didn't realize bellini's were an Italian thing?! BAM! Just selected our welcome cocktail and in turn can hopefully score some points with my FI's Italian family haha

@@ashhtayy I love the "Rose, Blush and Gold"! They are both beautiful but I think the second one feels very romantic and I think it will be easier to shop for things that are in the pink tones. I'm seeing tones of stuff in blush these days!

Sean says the same thing as Mike about most things for the wedding like "love it!" or "sounds good"…it's hard to get any sort of strong opinion but at least I don't have to fight him on anything. I know he'll get picky as soon as we get to the BDR. He needs to be in the space to visualize it and then he'll go crazy planning the logistics and go all "mcgyver" on how to make it happen! haha! no joke, Sean usually rearranges most hotel rooms on vacations to maximize the space and make it flow better but forget trying to get him to plan a trip ahead of time…he would pack in a laundry hamper if I let him.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
