Hi There,

My fiance and I are having our wedding at Grand Solmar Land's End this November 2015. When we looked at the price breakdown, their cake cost is $1400. From what we've learned through visiting multiple resorts, that price seems a little high. So we are considering using an outside vendor for our cake - despite a $200 outside vendor fee.

Has any bride run into a similar costly situation, and if so are there any good recommendations you can give? Any tidbit info is much appreciated!

Thanks!

Wow $1400 for a cake?? That definitely seems over the top! I would question that for sure! Would it not be a good idea to speak to the wedding coordinator at your resort and just see if they can explain the calculations for you? How many tiers is that? It just seems unusually high for a cake. Yes - resorts definitely will up price things for brides and it can very frustrating, but that just sounds totally out there!

I'm sorry I can't help with any names at all in Cabo, but maybe there is a bride here on the site that might have a suggestion.

Good luck!

Just wanted to jump in and say HOLY SMOKES!!!

That cake better be lined with gold.    I agree with @@acw271011 that you should question a cake of such value.  Another thought I had, and please don't take this the wrong way, but could you be seeing a price that is in peso? That would make more sense to me!!!!!  I am just trying to justify the cost for you.

I didn't even pay $1400 for 45 people to eat at my wedding LOL!

I personally have never been to Cabo so hopefully someone can jump in and help!

I never even thought about pesos! That could very well be right! I know what my cake is costing and it's 2 tier and feeds about 20 to 35 people and it's nowhere near that price, nor is our dinner!

I would definitely go through the pricing and see if you can get an explanation. @@calgarybride2015 may have solved it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
