That's so exciting :) I am just in the process of booking my date in March so I'm in contact with Dean but mostly just generalities. We are having the two photographers but I'm not sure if we are doing 4 or 6 hours. He suggested getting married at 4ish or as close to as possible since that time of day isn't too hot for everyone.

What are you doing for your reception?

We are hoping that our numbers (hoping 30-35) let us do the restaurant dinner and then a beach cocktail reception with DJ from 8-11pm. I'd love to do the Chill out but I think it's just too pricey at $100 pp.

Do you have your dress yet? I bought mine two weeks ago and I'm sooooo excited , I can't wait to wear it lol.

Are you in Canada as well?

Any time!!  I'm glad that you are finding them helpful. :)  Feel free to ask anything - it's nice to be able to chat with GSP brides. In terms of vendor fees for your make up artist, it would probably be cheaper to pay for a day pass which is $95.  You can just say that it is a friend that is coming in for the wedding.

We brought in our own make up artists and photographers but since they were staying at the hotel there were no problems in terms of vendor fees.  There are two Spas, one in the Platinum Yucatan and one at the GSP, I had a great experience at the Platinum Yucatan Spa.  We also had our couples massage there which was included with our wedding package and it was epic.  So relaxing.

One thing, a little tip, if you are getting your hair done at the salon, it does include a hair trial.  The spa employees were so friendly and made sure to inform me.  For some reason it's not really advertised but if you book a wedding hair appointment you get a trial.

I ended up making my appointments on the first day that we arrived.  I wanted to check out the Spa and salon first.  They also have a nice little area for all the bridesmaids to get ready and do their own makeup if they so wish to do that.  My room was  super big, so everyone gathered there, but it is a nice option to have everyone in that little bridal room too.

Cheers

That's awesome. If we end up with numbers over 40 we may just book it since we'll be paying out for a separate dinner anyways.

I bought my dress two weeks ago, it's not particularly beachy lol but I wanted something that looked great and I think I found it for sure. I love it and it was half price! So had to buy it even though I had intentions of waiting.

I just emailed Dean with an update today on my booking progress :P Were you waiting a long time for the resort to get back to you about confirming a wedding date?

Thanks for the tip about the spa ! I'm hoping a friend who is a hair stylist is going to come so I can get her to do my hair but if not then I may go the resort salon route. I'm worried about all my makeup melting off in the heat :s which is why I was wondering about make up artist vendor fees .

@steelbride lol I went dress shopping with the same intentions- "I'm just looking I'm not buying anything today" - ofcourse I walked out with my dress!

The resort is painful at getting back to you... they take forever. Deans assistant actually offered to call the resort and sort everything out for me instead of waiting as we were concerned about someone else booking what we wanted before us. They said they do it all the time so its just way easier. I wanted to have our ceremony at 4pm but I could only get 2pm in the end. Now that I have 2pm though I'm looking forward to being able to have some down time between ceremony and reception to relax and have a drink and spend more time in my dress! Dean said sometimes it is to bright and hot to do photos that early in the day but I am sure it will all work out perfect!

Lol it's terrible. I was all by myself. My sister in law and I are planning a mock dress shopping trip for my mom lol, we are taking the dress over to the shop early and then coming back with my mother and trying on ugly dresses and then My dress . She will kill me if she finds out I already bought it!

Yes my travel agent has sent mulitple emails and we can't book anything until we have the ceremony booked at the resort :P

I'm hoping I can still get the 4 pm time booked! Maybe I will enquire with Dean if he can speed the process along. Thanks :)

Do you have a pic of your dress? What are you doing for shoes?

Hahaha that's hilarious @steelbride!

This is my dress. Super beachy and casual with the slit. It's light and stretchy and so comfy! And these are the shoes I'm thinking from target of all places... The dress is champagne so I'm having a hard time finding the right colour shoes so I'm thinking of going blush which is my wedding colour!

@@Pottswedding2015 Your dress is so pretty!! I bet it'll be really cool on the day. Mine is heavier but I'm just going to suffer it out lol.

The blush will look nice for sure, a gold would probably work as well.

I'm not sure what to do for shoes, I'm torn between sandals and heels. The dress is actually the perfect length with a 1-2" heel, so I may just go for a small heeled sandal :P you won't be able to see much of them under my dress anyway.

@steelbride one thing that was suggested to me for shoes from another GSP bride I know was to get wedges because the walkway to the gazebo has the wooden slats so you don't have to worry about getting a heel stuck! haha. They do put a red carpet over it but the red doesn't go with my colours and it didnt go with hers either so she had them remove it and I am doing the same :)

Yes I'm not using those red carpets either @@Pottswedding2015, they're pretty ugly actually. I may be able to find a small wedge sandal, I'll have to look some more :P

My colours are Fiesta themed

It's a lot of colour for me lol but I figured it fit with the destination :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
