Hello all,

My fiance and I are planning our destination wedding hopefully early next summer. We were looking into Jamaica and there are some really nice places. Currently, we looked into Round Hill and the Rockhouse. We plan on inviting around 90 people (big Italian family), but realistically think that only half will show. There maybe a child or two, but adult only venues are plausible. Also, we prefer almost anywhere in the Caribbean, Jamaica is not a make or break deal.

Our budget is for around 20-25k. Roundhouse quoted us for 35k and we never got an accurate quote from Rockhouse.

My question is can anyone provide a place where I can get the most out of our money? Your responses are greatly appreciated!

Thank you!!!

Mike

Royalton White Sands in Montego Bay is very nice and clean. It's new. They have newer locations in other countries. You can do 45 guests with 20k there.

I got married there in March 2015 and it was great. 38 adults, 2 kids in my party.

I chose it bc it was new so I knew it would be very clean.

Is that budget and in USD or CDN? In Jamaica you're paying in USD.. We did it under 20k.

We looked at Rockhouse but we wanted a beach and we also had our nieces and nephews coming, plus we ended up deciding that proximity to the airport was important since most of our guests only stayed 4 nights.

We got married at Iberostar Rose Hall Suites a few weeks ago and were absolutely happy with our decision! It was a good balance of the cost to our guests and the costs to us. Some resorts, like Dreams, practically give you the wedding for free but our guests would have paid 3x as much to stay there. We had 66 people at our wedding - we paid extra for a private reception with an upgraded bar and also had a dinner and beach bonfire with steel drum band the night prior and our tab to the resort was about $7k. Plus our DJ was about $500. Our travel, welcome bags, photographer, etc was on top of that, but I think that was reasonable for the actual wedding day costs. Like I said, no regrets about our resort choice and our guests LOVED it.

If we had stayed for a honeymoon we would have gone to Negril and considered Rockhouse for that! It is so gorgeous.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
