Good Options For A Casual Dress?

Recommended Posts

Hey ladies.  I've recently had a bit of a change of heart.  I've decided I'd like to go a more casual look for my dress.  It's going to be so hot, and I really don't want to spend $1000+.  So I'm wondering if you guys know a place where I could find a nice casual white dress.  I prefer full length (not a fan of my legs) but I definitely want the material to be light.  I would even like the idea of something completely non-traditional.  A  nice designer (or not) dress that just happens to be white? I'm really willing to think outside of the box on this, I just don't know where to start.

I was the same way, I went to Alfred Angelo and I looked at Bridesmaids Dresses, I actually ended up with this dress http://www.alfredangelo.com/Collections/Disney-Maidens/524/?pg=1it is part of their disney collection.  They made it for me in white and I LOVED it!  And it was only $200.

@@JoannaBanana There are so many pretty casual white dresses in stores right now. There are a lot of short ones but I've seen a fair number of full length dresses as we. I got my dress made at Champagne and Cupcakes on Queen West but they also sell off the rack dresses and they have this really pretty full length white dress that would be perfect on the beach! I've been eyeing it and I might still get it to wear another night - haha! I think it's around $150-160. It's simple but very pretty, light weight and flowy.  :)

I believe David's Bridal would have a large selection for you in wedding and bridesmaid's dresses that are more on the casual side. They have a large large selection under $1000.  My wedding gown was only $500. You can look online too - just use the online shopping area, then choose Canada and you will find pages and pages of dresses. You can also narrow your search by styles, prices, etc.

Le Chateau may have something.  Laura also has a selection of dresses, but I haven't seen white there - although I wasn't really looking.    RW&Co had a cute spring dress recently that was white also.

So I was at Champagne and Cupcakes tonight and they actually have a couple more white dresses than I remembered. She's got a couple of simple and very elegant flowy white dresses ranging from $150-450.

If you can get past the intense perfume smell Abercrombie has some really cute white dresses (not sure if that is too casual) and I walked by Club Monaco today and they was a beautiful long white flowing dressing on a mannequin in the window. The more I go shopping the more I think i'm going to end up wear white all week long in Mexico…there's such cute stuff out there right now! ahh must stop shopping!! ;)

@@JoannaBanana I am seeing white dresses everywhere lately! Probably partly because I was originally thinking a white sundress (short) as my wedding dress. I stepped it up a notch and ended up with a short dress from David's that is pretty much a white cocktail dress. But I'm having second thoughts so still keeping my eyes open.

I've been looking for short, so not sure about long, but white seems really popular right now and long/maxi dresses are very popular, so there's bound to be something. I saw lots of white dresses at both Winners and Marshall's even! Have you checked J. Crew or Ann Taylor bridal collections? BM dresses are another good idea, as @@trbutler pointed out. I was also looking at short BM dresses at one point.

P.S. @@trbutler Your dress is beautiful. Seeing it on a bride, in white (or something similar), I don't think you would ever know it's a BM dress. How did you get them to make it in white? It doesn't look like white is an option. I found a BM dress that I really liked, but the closest it came to white was a dove grey.

Thanks ladies!  Your suggestions have helped, and I might stop in to Champagne and Cupcakes still @@snswedding2016 - their website doesn't show much.  I'm also seeing a ton on BCBG!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
