Yycbride2016 Grand Sirenis Planning Thread February 2016

I love everything you've bought for the wedding so far! Your jewellery is beautiful and such a good price too. As for the cake topper, I didn't find it hard to read at all and it suits your nautical theme perfectly.

And what a great deal on the groomsmen attire. That's a huge check off the list so congrats :) And that's great that Tip Top is so accommodating, especially with Kyle's suit.

And if he's as dedicated to working out as you are, you two will be the fittest bride and groom ever! You're killing it with the workouts. Great job!

I'm sorry to hear about your job

Your dress is very pretty! Did you end up figuring something out with the top? Mine had the same problem, it had a tiny little waist but the cups were huge! I don't even know how would anyone fit into that dress perfectly unless you were a model. I ended up getting those stick on bras and that helped a little. I bought mine at David's Bridal and, taking after some of the ladies here I call them the chicken cutlets, because that's what they look like haha. I've seen some at La Senza as well, but they're made out of fabric rather than silicone. I think those might be better as they seem to have more structure.

The countdown is on! I love the men's suits, they look very nice.

@@calgarybride2015 thanks! I can't believe how fast the last month has gone so I'm sure the next 2 are going to fly by even faster, which scares me. Thanks I absolutely love the jewelry! It's so sparkly and so me!

@@rebeccarpeck thanks! I love my jewelry too! I got it on Etsy! Such a good deal for 3 pieces of jewelry!

@@Wafflesmom thanks hun! I thought the cake topper was going to be more glittery than shiny. So that's all I was thinking but it's still cute! Yeah I'm so happy we checked off the groomsmen and grooms attire in one day! Such a relief! And yeah Kyle and I have been so dedicated to working out lately. We want to look good for our wedding day and the whole week on the beach! Motivation is high right now! Now to manage Christmas cookie intake haha.

@@TinkerSofi thanks! I'm so happy with my dress. I went in on Monday for a consult on the top of the dress. It's going to cost me another $415+get to fix the issues with the top. The seamstress told me it's too big for me. Which is exactly what I thought. She pinned everything for me and is going to seeing some bra cups, and I had to move around like that and the dress for my body so much better. I actually like my size now. Before I felt larger than i was because of all the empty space up top. I was so hesitant to spent another $415 on the dress when I've already spent $380 on the initial alterations, but like Kyle told me, you only get married once so enjoy it and money is just money. He's so sweet!

I forgot to post a few updates!

We booked our legal wedding ceremony! Call me crazy but we are getting married the evening before we fly to Mexico. Our ceremony will be at 5pm on February 19th. We had to have an evening ceremony because my sister is a teacher and I wanted her there as a witness. We are planning on going out for a dinner with both parents after the ceremony but I'm so worried that we won't have enough time to finish packing or I'll be up till 4am making sure we have everything. But it will be nice because Kyles grandma can't come to Mexico so we wanted her to be apart of our wedding. She didn't quite understand why we were having 2 weddings but we did our best to explain it to her haha.

I bought the mothers gifts. I bought two bracelets from Stella and dot since I know they both like S&D

I also got my sister a maid of honor gift. I got her a Stella and dot pavé wishing bracelet. I also have a small gold elephant bracelet that I may give her too since she loves elephants. post-283167-145088460794_thumb.jpg

We finally agreed on some fathers gifts. When we were in tip top tailors on Black Friday getting kyles ties we found cuff links for the dads. My dad is big into motorcycles and kyles dad loves golf so we got them each some fun cuff links (these aren't the exact ones, I couldn't find a picture online but these are almost identical): post-283167-145088469505_thumb.jpgpost-283167-145088470142_thumb.jpg

We also got Kyle some cuff links but I'll have to take a picture of them at home.

@calgarybride2016 do you remember how far out from your wedding you started communicating with the wedding coordinator. We are exactly 2 months out today and I haven't talked to one, so I'm wondering if that will happen maybe in January?

Oh my gosh! I really have been MIA lately! I forgot so many things to tell you ladies! We have also passed out final payment date. Our guests had to be paid in full by December 1st. We were getting so worried with the TA said on Dec 1 she was still waiting for a few people but I put out a reminder and they all paid thankfully. We did lose one guest unfortunately :( we were sad that our good friend wouldn't be able to make it because of starting a new job that same month but we completely understood. It was a shame because one of our groomsmen was rooming with him and so the cost of his trip went up about $200.

We ended up getting credit back for 1 flight from Transat. We decided we would split that money amongst our wedding party. So it worked out to $300/ person. And our one groomsmen is getting $480 to cover the cost of his trip going up. We felt bad so we wanted to cover his extra fees.

But at least everyone is now confirmed and that means we are still eligible for our free wedding, but only JUST eligible haha. Hopefully nothing else changes now!

Ohhhhhhh and my sister has started planning my bachelorette party! It's all going down a month before the wedding: January 23rd! We are doing a pretty chill night though. Girlie movies, cocktails, mani-pedis, and we hired a makeup artist to come in and teach us how to do the perfect smoky eye make up! So exciting! I think it will be really fun. Basically a giant slumber party!

Next is to plan the bridal shower which I think my sister will plan alongside my future mother in law!

Ok i think I've actually updated everything hahaha

Your gifts are fantastic. They'll love them :)

I think having your legal the night before is perfect. You can finish your packing the 2nd last night and the next

AM then let go of it all for your legal!!!! I didn't have much of anything to do my last full day!!

I didn't get my email until about 1 month before so you have time. It was actually right at about this time last year (sob) so hang in there :)

Glad you still got your numbers!!!! It's too bad he can't come. Most employers appreciate pre planned holidays etc. but glad it worked out.

Oh I love all of your gifts, they're so thoughtful :)

And I'm so glad your final payment went through without a hitch. It's a shame you lost one but that's really outside his control. At least he'll get to celebrate with you guys at your AHR

And your stagette sounds awesome! Sounds like a fun pampering night. That's on my wedding day so it sounds like you and I will be partying that day ;)

Update time!

I didn't get nearly as much done over the Christmas holidays as I'd hoped to. I pretty much got nothing done in fact. We did get an email from the resort though over the holidays! They sent us a document that has all sorts of things that need to be filled out such as music, food, flowers, etc! Also had to send our guest list with arrivals, departures, and table numbers.

So that's where I'm stuck! My fiancé wants our wedding party to be up at the front with us as one big long table. I find that it looks god but it's impractical for socializing. Also we have so few guests that I'm pretty sure the resort will tell us we can only have 2 tables then. I ideally want 3-4 tables. Parents table, family table, friends table, and potentially the wedding party table. What are your thoughts/experiences with sweetheart tables vs wedding party table?

Here are the songs we have chosen:

Wedding party entrance: Marry You by Bruno Mars

Recessional: All of me by John Legend

Signing: Marry Me by Train

Processional: On Top of The World - Imagine dragons (starting at 40 seconds)

Entrance to reception: Time of Our Lives- Pitbull

Bouquet toss: All the Single ladies- Beyoncé

Garter toss: Business Time - Flight of the Concords

Father daughter dance: ? (Ideas??)

Mother son dance: ? (Ideas??)

First dance: Tenerife Sea - Ed Sheeran

We have now decided we won't do the bouquet or garter toss in Mexico. We will be saving this for our AHR since we just don't have enough people in Mexico to do this with.

I have decided in my bouquet...I think. Which one do you girls like most. I am leaning towards number 4

bouquet

This is the boutonnière I have decided on. I know I made one with a starfish on it but I think I prefer the idea of fresh flowers on it.

We have also decided on our cake!! I emailed a picture to the resort and they told me it won't be any extra cost. I will bring the starfish and the ribbon!

It actually sounds like you've done a lot for your wedding planning. It probably doesn't feel like a lot since it's all administrative but I think you've done quite a bit.

We only have 23 guests, including us and like you, we wanted 3-4 tables. So we opted for a sweetheart table and opted for smaller tables that seat 5-6 guests (2 for family, 1 for friends and 1 for wedding party). Then perhaps it wouldn't look so formal.

For your bouquet I actually like 1 or 2 but that's because they're more my style. All are really beautiful so you can't go wrong with any option. As for the boutonniere, I always like fresh flowers so I love your new choice.

And your cake is beautiful! So glad there's no extra charge.

And I know you'll easily tackle through your list! I have faith in you ;)

@ thanks for the tip. I was talking to my sister last night and she agreed that the sweetheart table was the way to go because we don't have very many guests to fill out the space well. I do kind of like that idea of the MOH and BM sitting up at the front too. I'll see how convincing I can be with my FI haha. OMG I'm listening to that Song!! I love it!! That might just be perfect! I might steal that one from you :S

@wafflwsmom thanks! I'm glad someone thinks I've done lots because it certainly doesn't feel like I have. Especially over the past few months! In glad I got lots done over the summer! Your table/guest arrangement sounds exactly like what I want! I'll have to see if the resort will be willing to let us have smaller tables. I was also torn with bouquet 1 and 2. Most people chose 3 though. I feel like I want a big bouquet haha. But because I'm small a big bouquet might be overkill for me haha. My fiancé and I plan on taking a good stab at our to do lists this weekend since it's freezing here and we won't be leaving the house haha!

Oh and @ thanks! I really liked #2 as well. It's so soft and pretty! Ah so torn! I have to make my preliminary decision this weekend to send to the resort event coordinator

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
