Yycbride2016 Grand Sirenis Planning Thread February 2016

Recommended Posts

Just read through this thread and I must say I LOVE your dress and your smile!  I'm going dress shopping this Saturday (2nd time) and I definitely have mixed feelings about it.  I didn't like the first dress fitting since they wanted to bump my appointment at David's bridal.  This time I'm heading to some custom made places to see if they can tailor make a dress for me.

Glad the BM drama took care of itself!! I had my MOH tell me she might not make it due to budget/family planning.. then she changed her mind.. thank goodness.

Good thinking! I'm going to keep my eye out for a previously owned viel as well as the one I tried on in the store incase it goes on sale even more! My back up plan is to order one of Etsy. I've favorited a few that I like that are all reasonably priced so thats good. I feel like I have to have a veil now that I've tried them on.

Good idea! Yes I will make sure that we mention the message in a bottle numberous times. We are waiting to find out if a close family friend is going to come to the wedding before asking him to be MC and if so I'm sure he will make everyone line up and write a message for the bottle haha. We are also going to put it out at our At Home Reception so That way we should have lots of messages to read on our 1st anniversary!

That is so cute to have a time capsule to look back on 5 years after you get married! I'm sure it will be so amazing when the two of you get to open it up together and remember all the exciting things that are in there. We will definately be reminding our guests multiple times to write a message for the bottle though. Maybe I should make them write a message to get a wedding favor haha.

Aw thanks! I am so in love with my dress! I keep staring at pictures of it and just hoping for the next 7 months to fly by so I can wear it haha. I'm sorry your first appointment went bad. I didn't have the best experience with David's Bridal with BM dresses. They didnt seem to care that we were there and wouldn't help us find the dresses I and looked up prior to the appointment. I get that they are a big box store but they need to work on their customer service. This is one of the biggest moments in planning a wedding for a bride! It has to be special. I'm sure you will find a dress! You'll have to show us what you pick!

Sorry you also had MOH trubles. I think this is common isse with DW :( But in the end everything always works itself out!

Hi ladies!

My sister in law is getting married at the grand sirenis next November. I was wondering if you girls have any recommendations for photographers? Thanks in advanced!

So far I can recommend mine! His name is Octavio Montes and he works in the cancun-riviera maya area. So far, what I can tell you about him is that he responds quickly, he is very nice and approachable, his prices are unbeatable and at least I love his pictures. :).  I should have a more complete review in about a month when I come back from my wedding (Wow, I can't believe I just said that! *insert freaking out face here*)

@@Cynlee143 I haven't gotten that far into my planning yet. I will be going with the adventure team (or whatever they are called). They are what the hotel recommends. I'm sure their photos will be just fine. And I liked their prices. I'd recommend asking @@calgarybride2015 as she got married there in January and her photos were great!

Welcome, I married at the GS in January.  I used the resort photographer Adventure Photos.

What I should point out is that there are many photographers associated with them.  What I did was request work of all the photographers still on site and then browsed their work.  The one I liked the best I requested for our wedding.  Her name was Perla but she is no longer with them.  Her husband may be and his name is Hazel Gonzalez.  I have also heard great things about Ulysis (sp?) there.

If you do go with an outside photographer you will have to pay $300 USD for an external vendor fee.

There are brilliant photogs all over the Mayan!!  as @@TinkerSofi said!!!    I have a few short listed (Bohemia, Samual Luna, Dean Sandersen) but in the end I went with the ones on site as I LOVED Perla's work and she didn't let me down.

Good luck.

I am so glad I found this forum!! I am also getting married at the Grand Sirenis on May 3rd,2016. Any advice or tips you can offer would be greatly appreciated! I somehow am already feeling very unprepared. We chose the presidential package and are getting married in the church on the resort, if anyone's seen it and has an opinion that would be awesome! Our reception will be at the Palapa, we too are going through Air Transat. I feel like were in the most stressful part now which is the deposits. We are two weeks out from the deadline and currently have 18 booked, but were expecting about double that, its hard to not pester people but I really just want them to get it done so I can breathe. I am counting down the days to the deadline so I can really start planning. Ps. I attended a wedding at the Grand Sirenis last May which is why we chose it, we had a wonderful time while we were there! :)

I know that for us two weeks seems like nothing before people have to put down a deposit, and this is the time when we all start freaking out. However, from your guests' POV they still have plenty of time, and they'll all pay like 2 days before the deadline haha, I'm not kidding. I think all of us have had the same experience. Just sit back and wait, people will come through

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
