Yycbride2016 Grand Sirenis Planning Thread February 2016

Recommended Posts

@@yycbride2016 Your vow books are so cute!! Where did you get them from? We have ours but other ladies viewing your thread may be interested :)

I really like the look of the wooden planks so I would probably keep that and scrap the heals for the ceremony. Heals, sand and wooden planks sound like a recipe for disaster! You'll get to wear those beautiful shoes during the reception :) I'm not sure if you'd have time to get them, but a little pair of barefoot sandals would look adorable. Like @ said, it sounds like regardless of dress length your dress will be in the sand. I think not having to worry about tripping would be well worth the slightly sandy dress!

Congratulations on being SO close! You've done so much work in preparation for both your Mexico Wedding and AHR - I can't wait to see photos of it all. Deep breathes...it's coming soon!

Isis and Carmen also do the hair! Sorry I can't recall off the top of my head if they were doing your hair!

I would be nervous for the wood planks and heals because you won't be able to see your feet under your dress to place them properly. Id probably go barefoot or with sandals for the ceremony to be safe!!! I personally wanted sand only and arrived to the white isle runner.

Your vow books are great!!

Yay time is flying. Super stoked to see how it all goes!

I didn't realize wooden planks were an option! It really does look great.

My FI is an entire foot taller than me, so I am determined to have extra height shoes on at all times. I have 3.5" heels for the reception (and for photos) and bought wedges just for the ceremony. I'm trying to be optimistic that I can actually walk in the wedges in the sand, but I've come to terms with the fact that I might have to go barefoot if it seems like I might fall in them. In that case, I'll probably resort to building a mound of sand to stand on during the ceremony so we don't look weird in pictures, lol. I'm sure if you end up without shoes for the ceremony that you'll be fine walking in your dress - not a big deal if you have to use a free hand to pull the hem up a bit while walking.

Can't believe you're leaving in two weeks! Looking forward to hearing how awesome your wedding day and week with guests turned out

@@vancouverpetunia Have to do something so we don't look ridiculous in our pictures! At least a mound of sand is less conspicuous than a platform / box of some kind to stand on  :P

Plus, anything to reduce the neck strain of standing close and looking up at that angle is ideal. Half of our engagement pictures are pretty much just pictures of my neck/throat, lol

OMG I have missed so much!

Ok, you look fantastic in your bachelorette dress! That's such a steal, I wish I was as lucky. Your sister did a great job planning a fun time, the makeup artist did a beautiful job on you.

You've been doing a great job on your own makeup. Don't worry about flash. Especially if your photographer doesn't use it. Plus, did you use the flash on your camera? Because I don't know anyone who looks good under that awful flash!

And your dress alterations are perfect!!! Yay instant boobs lol. I'm like you and not exactly blessed in the boob department. Your dress looks beautiful in you, can't wait to see you in it soon

I had shellac done and aside from my nails growing, they never chipped. I lost a few glitter but not noticeable. I'm a bit biased with nail design choice so I obviously like the glitter ombré look

As for the aisle, as much as I love the look of the wooden planks, I would only choose them if you're not in heels. They'll pose more as a tripping hazard to you and if you're worried about tripping, your eyes will be focused on the walkway more than on Kyle. Honestly, when you walk fine the aisle, your eyes will be fixated on your hubby so reducing barriers will bode you well. If you do opt for them, go barefoot.

@ that makes so much sense and I also want to look myself but I've been practicing my makeup and getting more and more into it over the past year that I think people will expect me to look a little more glam haha thanks for the advice on the dress length. That's helpful!

@@ashhtayy thanks! I'm so happy with the vow books! I'm excited to use them! I got them on etsy from a seller called HappyJewelrySupplies! They come in different sizes but this was the smallest size!

I was looking online for barefoot sandals that would arrive before we leave but the wedding is a little too close to get them on time. I went shopping on Saturday and bit the bullet and spent $60 on a new pair. I can at least wear these as regular sandals for dinner and what not after the wedding so I think these will work for the ceremony and then I'll change into my fancy ones for the reception!

I also worked on making my welcome packages for everyone. Every package contains a waterproof pouch per person for your phone, 2 custom postcards, a door hanger, and eventually the brochure when I get them reprinted. I'll post a pick when I get the brochure made.

We also bought the groomsmen's gifts! We got a good deal on watches at the watch station (or something like that). They had a deal but 1 get 40% off, buy 2 or more and get 50% off. So we bought 2 watches that were identical and one other for the best man. It was an insane deal! We think they will love them! post-283167-14549732723_thumb.jpg

I also made a little slip cover for socks for my dad. It says "special socks for a special walk love your little girl". And has 2 pairs is dress socks. post-283167-145497329579_thumb.jpg

I decided to make one as a surprise for Kyle too! It says "for my handsome groom in case you get cold feet" please note I just noticed handsome was spelt wrong I'll have to figure out how to fix that. post-283167-145497340688_thumb.jpg

My bridal shower was yesterday too! Despite feeling sick with a cold it was such a nice event. My sister did an amazing job as per usual. We had about 12 people over and was nice for everyone to get to meet each other, socialize, and enjoy some pink champagne and snacks! I also got lots of wonderful presents even though we said no gifts! post-283167-145497350896_thumb.jpgpost-283167-145497351827_thumb.jpgpost-283167-145497352595_thumb.jpg ^my sister, grandma, and I.

Your shower looks like it was lots of fun. How nice of people to bring you presents even when you asked them not too! Can I ask where you got your shower dress? I love it!

Your ceremony shoes are perfect. Can definitely be used again and will be easy to walk in the sand with.

Great deal on the watches!Definitely a great present that everyone can use. We still need to decide on presents for our groomsmen and watches are definitely on the short list.

Our welcome bag contents sound like they're great. Looking forward to seeing how they all turn out!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
