How Long Are You Going For?

Just curious as to how long everyone is going to your resort for your wedding.

We would ideally like to do 2 weeks, but that would be an extra $5000 for the two of us.  With the cost of the wedding and our travel, we're only able to realistically manage 1 week there. I think that will be a good amount of time, but everybody keeps saying "You're ONLY going for 1 week? it's your wedding, splurge!!!"  Well, we'd like to, but the wedding will be at least $10,000. $5000 is a lot of extra money to pay to stay for 7 days...just curious what everyone else was doing.

I'm in the same boat.  We would have loved to stay a extra week after the wedding... but it was really adding up quickly.  We decided to do a private reception which means our wedding costs are $10,000 +

We are going for 10 days.  3 days before the rest of the group arrives.  It will give us time to meet with the WC, run some errands and put together our welcome bags and of course, RELAX.  HAHA. We were lucky enough to have our flight cancelled and so the airline is having us fly 1 day earlier and paying for our extra night stay.

I'm on the same boat, I would have loved to stay for even 3 days more but unfortunately it wasn't an option for us, either financially or time-wise. We decided we will go somewhere else during the year .

Thanks guys! Just wasn't sure if we were the only ones who couldn't put out another $5000 for a week, haha (granted, some places are cheaper than others, but it adds up fast)

We are putting on our gift registery that people can give money towards the travel agency we're using as a gift, so who knows, maybe we will be able to stay longer.

We're arriving the same day as all of our guests and staying for a week but then we're transferring to another resort for 5 days for a mini-moon. We'll also be going early for a site visit in Sept - hopefully we'll be able to get a lot of things organized and settled so we're not too frantic when we arrive.

We only went for one week and it was the exact dates of our guests. Graciously my dad offered to pay our second week as a wedding gift but we had the kids, they were missing school, my works a pain, etc etc so we couldn't. I loved being there with everyone though! Was a blast. We are doing a honeymoon on Vegas in August.

We are doing the less responsible thing lol and going for 2 weeks and splurging! 1 week at our resort with the guests and a 2nd week in Tulum at a beach front hotel that has huts that are literally steps from the sand , that has been my dream! But our first week is not that much only approx 1700 each and we had enough people book that we got a free package so it works for us.

5000 sounds like a lot for a week ( considering airfare not factored in ) I'm sure you could find another quality resort for half that or stay at a boutique hotel . Otherwise u can save and take a honeymoon like Six months later which is what I am doing. Honestly I wish we had another week to relax ( and I had no idea id feel that way) after the wedding. I thought it was even very helpful to come one day before guests

We stayed for two weeks. It was definitely worth it, although that was the only perk from our travel agent and hotel. So we didn't have to pay for the second week. We really really wanted to go to another hotel for the second week as we had a ton of our guests staying two weeks or over lapping our second week but we would have had to pay so we just stayed there. If we had to do it again, we would have left the resort for another one for sure!! It was awesome and nice to spend time with all of our family and friends for two whole weeks, but we wanted to have a little down time to ourselves! Oh well! Now we are planning to go back for our one year anniversary...and will be bringing along the newest addition to our family who is due in August!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
