Congratulations! I almost got married at Gran Bahia Principe, and they do have a REALLY good price point. It all depends on what you're looking for in your wedding. They seem to have multiple weddings in a day and since they're wedding Gazebo is the #1 pick for location, you end up having a time limit after which you need to make room for the next wedding. It's a large resort, but they try to make it as private as possible, and you get the option of having a semi-private reception afterwards. It was a bit challenging for me to work with their wedding department to get info at first, but once we spoke over the phone it was much easier.

Ultimately I went with Jewel Runaway Bay, which is a short drive from Gran Bahia because the beach was an important factor for us (and this one has a much better beach), the resort was smaller which for me felt like it would lead to a more intimate experience, and they allow for customizations which sounded appealing and less cookie cutter. The price point at Jewel is also really good and they offer round trip airport transfers which was a nice add-on.

Runaway Bay is great in general so you can't go wrong with that! Hope this helps!

Hiya!

My fiancée and I are hoping to get married at Bahia Principe in Jamaica in 2016 too, we're aiming for May or June though to accommodate my sister who's still in school. My sister and her boyfriend went at the end of April and loved it, they couldn't say enough good things.

Have you booked anything yet? I'm worried that we haven't got anything set in stone yet. Has the resort sent you any useful info?? At this point anything would be helpful

Thanks and good luck

@@SashJAbride.....:Hi I am getting married at the Jewel Paradise Cove which is the sister resort to the Jewel Runaway Bay.  Please tell me how it has been working with the wedding planners.  I have been using the U.S. stateside planner.  Have you been contacted by the wedding planner in Jamaica yet?  Wondering how attentive they are?

Thank you,

Letitia

I have also been looking into Grand Bahia in Jamaica, but not until 2017. They told me to book my wedding date by December 2015, but the price list will not be out until 2016. I would love to know what others thought of this resort!

We were just married at this resort last month and it was amazing.  Please feel free to send any direct questions about anything.  It was perfect and amazing.

I did a lot of planning ahead of time and it was easy to get married.  I just showed up. :)

I'm a GBPJ bride too (October 2011) and we loved the resort. We had a wonderful experience there.

Just as an FYI, there is a huge thread for the resort here:

It's definitely worth a read even though its' long. There are recent reviews as well as the ones from several years ago.

Happy planning brides to be!!

@ebecks

I am so glad there is someone who was recently married at Grand Bahia. We are doing a vow renewal in May 2017. I saw all the pricing which is good but I keep reading about all the add on prices and I am worried I am going to show up and get charged for everything. Did you have to pay any extra fees when you got to the resort. The only other cost I was told about was for  renting a reception space,dj, along with food and drinks.

We would love to have a reception at the beach after. Is there a place where we can get drinks during the reception. It kind of stinks to pay for drinks when we are in an all inclusive place already. If I was to pick a beach reception with dancing, is there a bar close by?

Thanks again. I hope to hear from you soon.

Michelle

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
