Marraige Licence - Ontario Brides

Recommended Posts

Not sure how many Ontario brides would benefit, but I did find this article.

Interesting article.  Thanks!  It's odd that the discrepancy even exits but I guess different municipalities have different overhead costs?

By the time I add the gas to drive to some of these locations that are further out, I'm sure it all evens out!  ;)

@@veryvalentine yea, very true. It's not too bad for me, we visit my parents in the east end pretty often. We're going to goto City Of Oshawa to acquire ours. It's a huge difference from where we live (Markham).

@ Thanks! I knew I'd seen that article before somewhere...

My sister lives in Brock Township. Looks like I'll need to visit her to get my marriage license for only $75  :D

EDIT - I take it back! I followed the link in the article to the Brock Township website and they've increased the cost of a marriage license to $100

Maybe the article in The Star made them realize they could get away with charging more  :P

@@krystalball no worries! haha.. I actually googled where Brock is to see because it's literally half the price compared to where I live in Markham. It would almost be worth the drive.

Durham region is really good for pricing as well and I wouldn't have to make any out of the way trips since it's in the same general region as my parent's house.

@ Thanks for the Info, I will definitely pass it on...

I'm actually doing my legal ceremony in Newfoundland this summer ....Licence cost $50.00 no matter where in NL you do it...I'm currently looking  up the fee for the Officiant, and just reading through the licence application...

@ That's a great idea!

I'm going to do it in my parents back yard or on the dock or in the living room if its raining...lol! Going to have a little BBQ afterwards...I think by having it at home you avoid the fee for a room rental at the city...I have to check into it further tho...I find this part so confusing!

@@Meandhim my parent's have a priest that lives accross the street. They keep saying we should hire him lol.

What time of year are you doing yours? I think ours will be too cold for anything outdoors. Our plan is to marry on November 11. There's kind of a specific reason for the date so it kind of sucks that it's on a weeknight, but ah well.

@

A priest right across the street sounds convenient to me!!

I'm doing mine in July 25...lol...so I'll be legally married 4 months exactly before the Punta Cana Wedding date.

We were going to do it April 1 on what we had planned to be our wedding date...but then we decided to do it at home so My Nan could go...plus we had already planned on going home in July so why not just do it then.

We picked July 25th because it's the only day we have free while we are there...lol

    • Hi Everyone, So, I was cleaning out my closet and realized that I never sold off my extra wedding OOT bag stuff from our wonderful DW.   46 Daily Spanish for Dummies 30 Pool colored OOT fabric bags - approximately 13in x 13in. They lay flat.  I used them for our wedding and they were perfect for everything we needed to fit in each bag. There’s a slight shade variation in the group; I’m guessing some were cut from a different bolt of fabric.  They are also a little wrinkled from storage and will probably be wrinkled from shipping. I have three additional ones, but they somehow got something on them (likely toddler related). If needed, I can try to wash it out and send those as well.
    • I’m getting married in six months to my foreign girlfriend. I was advised by a friend that one of the things I need to do before saying I do is to get a prenuptial agreement. Basically it’s supposed to protect my assets and properties in case my relationship with my future wife goes down the drain. I don’t know though if this is an acceptable practice when marrying Kiev ladies. I don’t want to do it if it would be insulting on her end. I need advice on this. Please help me.
    • So we are currently looking for an all inclusive resort for the wedding. We have 60 guests and found all the Dreams resorts as options and all of them gave us a quote and discounted price since it’s off season etc. Resorts in Punta Canta gave us a reasonable price, Dominicus gave us a really good deal then La Romana Resort and Spa gave us their regular price and so hard to negotiate. Will someone tell us how special is this resort that they won’t give us a good discount when all my guests are staying in their resort for 5-8 days. We are bringing $$$ in their resort and not give us a discount?  What is so special with this resort?  Can somebody recommend a beautiful resort?
