@KatieMcBride It isn't amazing for your skin to use a tanning bed, but if you are only going to go a few times before your trip I can't see it being a huge deal. I think it's only bad if you're one of those types that is going all the time.

I plan to use a tanning bed prior to the wedding. I want to have a nice even base tan before going. I tend to burn the first day or two usually and then tan after that, so I guess I want to tan before so that I can avoid burning as much when I first get there.

Originally I had thought the same thing as well (about the spray tan), but then I remembered my one experience with it and it wouldn't work very well for a wedding. Spray tans also smell kind of funky as well.

I also agree! I'd be worried about it rubbing off, it being streaky or even it being to orange for my taste.

Given you'll just use a tanning bed for a month or so to get a base (we aren't talking nutella mom here) I think you are ok to use a tanning bed. :)

I'm doing the same thing as @perianjay and just tanning a bit in a bed before we go. Believe me, it PAINS me to say I'm using a tanning bed because I'm so against them, but as a pasty Ohioan, I think I'd be setting myself up for disaster heading to Cancun with my still-white-from-winter skin.  I doubt that tanning a few times will be detrimental to our health. I plan on acting like a vampire when I'm in Mexico until the wedding - pretty much staying out of the sun as much as I can so there's zero risk of getting burned, even with a base tan.  I've had a Mystic spray tan before that I was really happy with, and I think spray tans can look great, but I think between sweat and white dresses and swimming all week, it's just not really a good option for a DW :(

Yup I agree!! I was happy with my spray tan and it was fine on my vacation to Cuba, but I suppose a wedding isn't the time to chance things - especially with a white dress.

        Thanks for all your input!
