I'm a Northern Canada girl, so I don't get much sun. Needles to say, I'm pasty white, haha. Has anyone ever gotten a spray tan in Cancun? I don't think the spa at my resort offers them, so I'm wondering if there's any recommended salons I could get a spray tan done 2-3 days before my wedding.  I don't want to look orange or streaky....I just want a bit of color so I don't blend in with the sand!

Any recommendations would be appreciated - thank you.

Oh my goodness! lol In all the time I've been here I think you're the first person to ask this!! And I have to say I have absolutely NO IDEA!!! lol  Although I'm sure someone does. That just might be something worth looking into! Let's see what the other ladies have to say. Maybe they're heard of something!

I don't know if I would do that?  I would be worried about the heat and sweating it off...the weird smell of the spray tan and staining your dress with the spray tan if you do sweat a lot.  I don't know.  You will get a natural glow from just being in Cancun but I don't know if I would go the spray tan route.

I hope so! Haha, it's still a year away so I have time to do research. I will always ask the girl who is doing my makeup/hair if she knows someone reputable.

I got a spray tan this year before going to Cuba and it was fine.  Once it sets, it doesn't "melt" off. It just fades gradually.  I'm just not sure if Cancun has any reliable salons?   Reason I'm asking is, I don't tan. I've got a bit of ginger in me, so I either A) stay white or B) burn.

I hope you find someone! :)

I got a spray tan for my engagement party and I had a bad experience with it.  I had it done a few days before and it was so hot that I when I was sweating i could smell the spray tan.  I had stains on the dress I wore and I was sooo annoyed.

Maybe it would be worth doing just before you leave for your wedding?

I've read that you're not supposed to swim in chlorine with a spray tan since it can make it streaky, so if you wanna hang out in the pool it might not be the best idea.  I would be realllllllly cautious because of what @@veryvalentine said - you might have a totally different experience than the last salon you went to where it stayed on well, and it could be a sweaty orange disaster all over your wedding dress  :o

Yeah you ladies are right.  I would NOT be impressed if I had orange stains on my white dress HAHA!  Guess it 'sokay for a normal vacation, but wouldn't want to chance it with my wedding.

Everyone tells me to just use a tanning bed, but it's sooooo bad for your skin, I'd rather not.

I'm a wedding photographer and I just happened to be going through the forum researching a wedding in Mexico when I saw your post. Don't get a spray tan! I spend a LOT of time trying to fix it in post production because it ends up not photographing well. Try not to get a sunburn before the wedding either ;)

I also agree! I'd be worried about it rubbing off, it being streaky or even it being to orange for my taste.

Given you'll just use a tanning bed for a month or so to get a base (we aren't talking nutella mom here) I think you are ok to use a tanning bed. :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
