Pinata at the reception?

Is anyone considering doing a pinata for the wedding reception?  I saw some pictures and it looked like sooo much fun but I'm worried that it might either get overlooked or cut into dance time.

I found this gorgeous pic online.  I love the bright colours that it brings!

It looks like it would be so much fun and we could totally fill it up with things from Costco etc etc.

Anyone considering doing one?

Hey Veryvalentine,

this is sure a fun idea,  you dont even have to go as as Costco to fill it out with candies, in the Riviera Maya we have plenty piñata shops that you can buy both the piñata and candies. im sure you hotel coordinator will be able to get one for you if you preferred.

Happy Planning!

I'm thinking of doing this. It seems like a fun thing to do and I loved pinatas as a kid. I noticed my resort charges $150 plus tax (total about $175) for a pinata with candies, though, so I'll be looking to source it elsewhere!

That looks like such a cool idea!!! And you're right about the colours! They show up so well in the photo. If you had a smaller group of guests I think it would be great. not sure if you had a really large group if it would work as well?? But it's definitely something in keeping with the culture!! I hope you let us know what you decide!!

We had that idea originally but then slashed it because we wanted to dance more haha. I still think it's a lot of fun! especially if you want to break up the dancing with games and different activities :).

As a kid I was never a big fan of the piñata so I won't miss it that much lol. I was always the small kid who would get pushed around and stepped on when trying to get to the candy :P. My memories aren't the greatest when it comes to piñatas hahah. However, as adults this is so much fun!! it makes everyone feel like a kid again :D

@@veryvalentine What a great idea!  I think I will look into this with my wedding coordinator like @@dreamweddings suggested.  I don't want the stress or bother of shopping for stuff before my wedding.  I prefer to just enjoy with my friends and family.

So glad you posted this!  I would never have thought of this :)

We are so torn about this idea.  On one hand it would be so fun and like when do you ever get to hit a pinata, especially at a wedding!!  On the other hand, we are hiring a DJ and I also don't want to take too much time away from the dancing or break up the party!  ahh

that was exactly our dilemma, since people won't really be involved, unless everyone takes a turn (which would take even longer), I'm afraid people will lose their dancing mojo and then it's hard to get the party started again.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
