Does Number Of Guests Matter For All Inclusive?

Hi dear BDW ladies!

I'm very new to the forum and i found that you are all very helpful!

Can someone please explain to me why does the number of guests matter in an all inclusive package? The food and drinks are included anyway right? so why does the price for the wedding change if you have 30 or 60 guests? What's the difference?

Thank you!  :)

Congratulations and welcome to BDW!! @Ruzanna when you state all inclusive package... are you speaking about the resort itself ? or the wedding package? Yes the resorts are all inclusive ( if that's the resort type you select) so all food and drinks are included BUT the wedding isn't included in this. Its an additional event. The wedding is an additional cost on top of the all inclusive $ you pay for your nightly rate. It all depends on what resort you select and what their wedding packages include. For example.. The wedding packages at the Royalton aren't very inclusive . Each plate is charged per person.. they can range from $40-80 all depending on what your meal selection is. They also charge for the chair set up etc per person. at AM resorts they are much more inclusive with the packages. One of their packages covers up to 25 people and every additional person then is charged per additional plate depending on your meal selection. Just have to do research on what wedding packages are best for what your looking for! :)

I hope that makes sense! Good Luck!!

Yes an all inclusive resort. So you pay for your stay, your guests pay for their stay + you pay for the wedding ceremony which is all great! But my main worry is the guest count for the dinner. I know for a fact that with our friends and family the numbers will be approximate not exact LOL. So far I've seen packages that would say 25 people or 30 people for 2000-3000.....what if you have 60? Thanks :)

The additional 30 you would have to pay the cost per person. Depending on whatever the resort states on their contract. So example.. You decide you want  wedding package for 3000 that covers 25 people and you have 60 guest. The resort states on the contract additional people will be $60. So you would pay 3000 + (35 additional guest x 60 pp) = $5,1000.

extra cost do take a toll  on budget. Just make sure to do your research  as much as possible. Ive heard from a few other brides sometimes its easier on the budget to build it up yourself versus getting the packages they offer.  GOOD LUCK!!!  Happy Planning!! :)

I second @@racht33 - Definitely do your research and ask lots of questions. It IS crazy that you have to pay extra for food and drink at an all inclusive but eventually you accept that there is no way around it

We have 65 adults for our wedding in June. We are having a private reception, which is an additional $800 and includes beer and wine. To add liquor is is another $10 per person per hour! And then our package covers 15 people, so we also pay $20 per person over the 15 which includes set up, champagne toast, and cake pretty much. It adds up.

We also have a welcome event which, fortunately, our meal is not at an extra charge (not private) but the bar again is at $10 per person per hour.

Also make sure you are asking about extra fees for vendors. Most resort charge a "vendor fee" if you use anyone out side of their preferred vendors for a DJ, hair/makeup, photography, etc. Those fees vary wildly by resort.

Good luck!

Yup. It's annoying. I asked myself the same question: If my guests are all paying for all-inclusive food & drink, why does it cost so much more for the wedding dinner. I do get it to an extent. It's outside of the regular service they are providing both at your event and behind the scenes in the kitchen. They have to staff for it. But they are still making lots of $$$ off us!

Our package is $3300 for 25 people (and includes a lot of extras - flowers, photography, videography, makeup/hair, massage for 2, private dinner for 2 on the beach, soloist, etc.). Then it's $94 per additional person for dinner. This includes set-up, champagne toast, wedding cake, cocktail hour, etc. But these are also priced separately so, for example, I don't plan to add any extra wedding cake. We get a cake for 25 plus dessert, so that will save me $7 per extra person. Oh, BTW, this doesn't include the $5 per extra chair for the wedding ceremony! And, if we want our reception to go past 9, we have to pay $15/person per hour for EVERYONE. Don't get me started on sound systems, etc.

I'm sad to say that DWs are a nickle & dime experience.

@@vancouverpetunia  I'm glad i'm not the only one who didn't get the whole additional pay concept. BUT $94 PP is Toronto prices!!! I can't believe they would charge you that much! Where are planning your wedding?

@@beckys98 $20pp additional is what i saw for some resorts. That sounds more reasonable.  I guess I would have to turn on some mad negotiation skills HAHA

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
