    Great question, perianjay! This is how we answered it on our MTM Photography FAQ webpage here:

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Q) Do I have to buy a meal for you at the reception?
    A) For packages that include coverage during/past your dinner reception, please be sure to include 2 in the dinner reception (photographer and assistant).
    This does not have be your reception dinner. This can include hamburger/club house/fries from the room service menu. As well, we prefer to have a seat/table off to the side so we have a place for our equipment. As well, we will be getting up and running around to catch kissing/events/speeches/etc during the dinner!
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Hope this helps out, as it works well for everyone in our experience - win/win :)

    Wishing everyone happy planning - cheers!!! team MTM :)

      Hey Ladies,

      here is what i always tell my clients to do, any vendor usually photographer and Videographer even a wedding planner.  We are usually onsite for more than 5 hours and yes is expected to get them a meal.  Some locations/hotels would have a specific vendor meal and some would require you to get the same meal as for your guests.  Seating table, we always prepare a vendor table.  This table is usually just on the side/ corner table, to keep the photographer closer incase of any action.   you do not have to seat them with your guests , but get them a meal.

      Happy Planning!

      @smileitseb ohh sorry. I thought you had questioned if they would be working the whole time?

      I think i'm just going to see if an extra small table can be added. They would have to eat at my reception because it's on the sky deck and i'd like them there during dinner too.

      @smileitseb from what i've heard, I think that they still sit down to eat, but not for the entire time that everyone else is eating. I think my photographer also mentioned to me that moments of downtime aren't coming out of my hours in my package. Most photographers are pretty forgiving of the fact that the flow of the day isn't always ideal and that there's sometimes points where there's downtime. I'm sure during the dinner they get up at points and do photos during the integral parts.. like speeches. Definitely don't want photos of me stuffing my face though lol

      @perianjay dangit, so much to think about! my set up is literally perfect with the amount of guests we have, dont want to change anything with that, but gotta figure out where they can eat and set their things

      @smileitseb haha, I know! I was making my mock seating plan today (draft) and suddenly I thought about that part.. because I remembered hearing something about providing them dinner. The sky deck at my resort isn't very large so I think they may end up sitting amongst my guests.

      @perianjay we're setting up a small table just for our photographers. We're just having a small package that has 6 hours of coverage so with getting ready and our first look it takes us to the start of our reception. We're starting with our first dance so that they can capture it. My WC added it no problem. Even though they will be finished shooting with the rest of our reception left to go we thought it would be nice to include them. Our photographer added in an engagement session at no charge plus they should eat after working for 6 hours! ;)
      They will be sitting with all of us but just at their own table. I guess in a way they have their own sweetheart table. ;)
