I visited Curacao a few years ago. Some of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen and amazing snorkeling (and obviously diving, as well, but I don't dive).
One place you might check out is Kura Hulanda Lodge & Beach Club. We drove by it and it looked amazing. When you look on the map it looks really far from town, but the island is very small. We pretty much drove the entire circumference in half a day. The Kura Hulanda Village & Spa is in the centre of town and is the most unique resort I've ever seen. It incorporates historic buildings and really transports you back in time. However, it is not beach front. We also walked around the Renaissance hotel area. It's adjacent to the old town, so is a great location for exploring outside of the resort.
We stayed at the Hyatt, which appears to now be the St. Barbara Beach & Golf Resort, so I don't know if service levels, etc. have changed. I was there running a work event, so I didn't get to relax much (never set foot on the beach), but everyone there seemed to enjoy it and staff/service was amazing. So was the food.
Note that there are fringe areas around Willemstad that are pretty sketchy. It's definitely "3rd world". But within the main town center it seemed fine.
