Cost For Guests

It definitely depends on the resort...we were originally going with Dreams in Cancun, but when we met with our travel agent, it was going to be $2400 per person - WAY out of our guests price range.   Dreams was what we wanted, but it was not realistic or affordable, so we change the resort altogether.

We're going with the Riu (still in Cancun - still a 4.5 star) but it's $1600 per person...much more affordable, and a better wedding package.

All of the information you get by researching is SO overwhelming. I'd highly recommend working with a travel agent! They are a huge help :)

We are going to Cabo and it appears that Vancouver is a shorter flight than Toronto, so I don't get why TO would be so much cheaper? Doesn't make much sense to me! We live on Vancouver Island so we also have to mess around with the ferries which is a pain as it adds more cost and travel time! I am still grateful at the prices we were able to find considering how high all the other quotes were. I attended my cousins wedding in PV at a 5 star resort in 2010 and we paid 1200 pp. The prices seems to go up every year.

PV in January 2015 was super cheap - the grand palladium for us was $1250 from Calgary. We didn't choose this location but did receive that pricing. Prices are definately jumping!!

If your TA is providing pricing that seems out of line with what the brides here are saying, try getting pricing from some different TAs to test the market.

The TA I was using originally was giving me pricing that seemed way out of whack, and I ended up finding someone else who was quoting rates about $200 less per person - and she was much more responsive too!

My biggest advice (though I'm still about a year away from my wedding date) is don't be afraid to shop around for the best TA. We would have had far fewer people coming to the wedding if we had stuck with the first pricing we received.

I pick up part-time event bartending shifts on weekends and I worked last weekend in the hall next to a bridal show.  I obviously popped in on my break and although we were getting quotes from multiple TA's... I met another TA specializing in travel that said they could beat any price.

I thought it was worth a shot so I emailed them our quotes and they got it down from $1389 pp for a week in Riveria Maya in April 2016 to $1289 pp... So now one of our original companies is trying to beat or match this.

All I can say is that it's worth it to shop around and compare!

@@Victoriabride That was a quote for the Grand Bahia Principe Coba.  They also got the price down by $70pp for the Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya from Toronto.

Ohhhh I vote GS!! Hehehe. Which did you pick? (On my phone and can't see your particulars). When I got my pricing for January 2015 the Coba was super expensive but I know generally it's a well priced resort.

@@calgarybride2015 ahhh I love GS and I'm totally bias because of your review lol

But we have to compare it to the rate we're getting for the UK guests and GBP is £100 cheaper pp than GS!

We haven't booked yet, should be sorted in a couple of days! eeeeeeee :) :) :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
