Wedding Gift For Groom Ideas! Share Your Ideas

Recommended Posts

Hi ladies,

I have been checking off a lot of things on my to-do list lately but one item that keeps coming up is the Grooms Gift the day of the wedding day.  I am starting to write my letter to him but I'm trying to think of a fun gift.  He loves, loves, loves watches so I'm thinking of going that route but I wanted to  hear what you ladies are doing or have done.

I know there are tons of threads but I wanted to hear more recent ideas and maybe inspire some of our newer brides out there! :)

I totally love the watch idea, especially if he really likes them. I still don't know what I could even get Juan so I'm a total loss for ideas :(. I want something that he'll be able to keep but he doesn't like watches.

@TinkerSofi  I like the idea of a watch too, especially because he can wear it with his suit.  He's been kind hinting about a watch he likes right now.  I wanted to get him something even more thoughtful but maybe that's it.  I made him a infinity pendant - maybe I should get him a silver chain so he can finally wear it too.  He'd be so surprised.

@IzzyDeee  That's totally fun!  What a nice idea.

Gonna put one of the pictures in a frame for the nightstand @@veryvalentine

And a watch is a great idea! Especially if he is real into them; you could even get it engraved and everything

I thought about getting Juan some kind of chain because I know he'd wear that. He actually doesn't like rings so chances are he'll end up wearing the ring with the chain.

I think a nice watch would be cute because in a way you're "promising him your time from now until forever" :). If Juan liked watches that's totally what I'd get him.

I also thought about a boudoir photoshoot so I haven't decided yet.

I have done boudoir photos for my fiance for a previous gift. He loved them but, honestly, the album sits in a closet! There is one framed photo in our bedroom. I feel like they are more for me so 20 years from now I can remember how young I was. Ha.

I've also given him custom cufflinks. He is from Jamaica so I got him cufflinks with the coordinates of his hometown engraved on them. He loved them, but he also wears cufflinks.

My current idea is to get him a custom made suit as a gift. Not to wear to the wedding, but for him to do when he gets back. A girl I work with's husband has a tailor who comes from Hong Kong 2x per year and sets up shop in a hotel room where guys can go and get measured and pick fabrics and everything. She says they are luxury suits for a more reasonable price. He wears suits to work almost every day and he is fashionable, so I think he would love the experience.

That said, we've also talked about not doing gifts at all and spending the money on travel, including our honeymoon we'll plan for the fall. We haven't traveled as much as we would like and we think having those experiences together are important - especially while we are childfree. As I see the wedding expenses pile up sometimes I think this is a good option. Ha :)

@@veryvalentine Derrick loves watches too. He actually jokes around that he'd rather have a "wedding watch" than a wedding ring. Lol So as a wedding gift, I'm getting him a watch. I'm trying to decide which way to present it:

1) give it to him before the ceremony with a tag that will either say "see you at 3 pm" our ceremony time or "looking forward to spending every minute of my life with you"

Or

2) surprise him during the ceremony and present him with both a wedding ring and his wedding watch.

What do you guys think?

I like the first idea, only because I like the gifts being a private moment rather than having everyone witness it :). Besides I'll be too much of a nervous wreck on the ceremony to come out of the script hahah.

I got Doug a watch on our way home from Jamaica. We didn't do gifts the day of. There was just so much that had happened right before we left it sort of got forgotten. but I picked up a beautiful Movado for him at duty free in the airport thinking it would be something he would wear but nope. Only wore it for about a month then that was it. He just doesn't wear watches, doesn't really even like to wear them. He received a beautiful gold one for his 35 years service at work and it sits in the box on his dresser collecting dust. I would love to do a gift for him for our renewal with something special engraved on it or in it to let him know that the fact that he stuck with me through all of the hospital stuff, even holding a bucket while I threw up, that it means the world to me. There are a lot of guys that would NOT have stuck around through it all.

For someone that loves watches it's a beautiful idea and a good one! And so are the cufflinks for someone that wears them! Great ideas for sure. And the photo shoot is awesome but I'm too old for that! lol You young ladies would be perfect for that kind of thing. The chain is also a good idea. For me though, lol none of it works!! Doug is mr. techie and loves his toys!! And it bugs the heck out of me because every time I get an idea, or think I have an idea for his birthday, or Xmas - he just goes out and buys it himself!

So I would also be in the market for any ideas!! I'm getting him a new ring because his wedding ring is so big now that he wears it on his middle finger (no don't go there! lol) We can only have it sized once because it's tungsten so I thought about having a ring engraved but the space is so limited.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
