Majestic Colonial Or Barcelo Bavaro?

Recommended Posts

Hello Ladies,

My fiance and I are trying to decide which hotel to choose for our wedding. We've been looking through the forum but we haven't found anything recent about Majestic Colonial resort. Can anyone help? We need a chapel and these are the only two hotels we found with chapels.

Also, we read that both hotel demand a fee to have an outside photographer... is there any way we can get out of that? it just seems ridiculous to pay to have our own.

thank you and happy planning,

 Sarah

Hi Sarah.

Sorry I don't have any experience with either resort. Our resort had a chapel though - Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya or Mayan Beach.

Most if not all resorts have an outside vendor fee for everything not just photography. Sometimes you can get away with it if you booked them a hotel room For 1-3 nights or if they are your guest and staying with you for the week.

Good luck.

I have been to Majestic colonial on vacation, not for a wedding, but I really like the hotel. Their beach is gorgeous! The food was great and so was the service.

I can't speak for Barcelo Bavaro.

Calgarybride is right, most hotels will charge an outside vendor fee, unless you go with an offsite reception venue. Some hotels will offer that if you get a few nights at the hotel for the photographer they won't charge that fee. As far as Majestic Colonial goes, if their approved photographers are the guys who go around the beach taking photos I strongly suggest you get your own outside photographer. They're not terrible, they're ok for a few pictures on the beach, but they're not exactly professional wedding photos.

Good luck! Hopefully you can get some info on Barcelo :)

I stayed at the Majestic Elegance (Elegance Club) last year. The grounds were very nice. The food was decent but hit or miss. One night we accidentally ate on the Colonial side bc we were so turned around and the food at the Mexican restaurant was horrendous!! We talked about how bad it was the rest of the trip. If you can, stay on the Elegance side bc it's a step up so you get access to both resorts, but technically the Colonial side does not get access to the Elegance side. The Elegance Club was definitely worth it, too, but it's adults only.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
