Ceremony

After taking bridal party/family photos on the pier we all headed back to get ready for the ceremony. Everyone went upstairs and I waited with my wedding attendant in the lobby of the Sea Olive restaurant. She told me that they would let her know via walkie talkie when they were ready for us and we would go up in the elevator.

Anxiously waiting to go upstairs!

One of the WCs came down to ask me if it was ok if the bridesmaids wore sunglasses as they were facing the sun. I didn't care and said of course. My girls told me after that they were happy because it helped with conceal the tears  ;)

We got the call to go up and the whole day my wedding attendant was asking me if I was nervous and I kept saying no I felt pretty calm but the nerves him me in the elevator ride up. She had me wait in the elevator until the timing was right and she said if I wanted to look through the crack of the door I could see the bridal party walking in. Bad idea...I started tearing up immediately see everyone walking in and hearing the music. My wedding attendant said "don't cry yet! It's too early" haha!

I love looking at these moments in my photos because I missed all of this while I was waiting by myself downstairs. So happy to have had amazing photographers to capture beautiful moments like these!

One of my maids of honour and my nieces (our flower girl and Jr. flower girl...yes I made up that title but really she is just too cute not to have her "walk" down the aisle)

So I walked down the aisle (the terrace is an L shape) along the long side and when I reached at back of the aisle runner Sean walked to me and we walked to the alter together. This was really important to us to symbolize entering into our marriage as equal partners.

Vows

I realized I never posted our vows...well mainly because we were still finalizing them in Mexico!

Mine: Sean, you came into my life when I no longer believed love like this existed. The kind that takes you by surprise, the kind you can't stop telling your friends about because you just can't get over how lucky you feel that you've found this person and by some crazy twist of fate...they feel the same way. I was nervous, a fish out of water, it felt completely foreign to me and you made it easy. Falling in love with you felt like finding my way home. For the longest time I didn’t think I even wanted to get married but then I met you...someone who always knows what to say to calm my nerves, someone who walks proudly beside me hand in hand, someone who will always dance with me when there isn’t even any music playing and then it hit me - I had the “When Harry Met Sally” moment. That moment when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with someone and you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible...You are my Sally. I can’t wait to continue to build a life together, travel the world and above all else always dream with you. You have this great ability to really savour epic moments like these and you always remind me to stop. breathe. and soak it all in. So here I am taking it all in, not wanting to forget one bit of it and I want to live in this memory forever. I love you. You make me stupidly happy!

Sean: Stephanie, the story goes that I swept you off your feet on the dance floor. The truth is you've been sweeping me off of mine ever since I met you.Your sheer force of will, your patience, your spirit and your ability to calm my chaos, keep me in awe. Everyday you are more beautiful to me. I will save the world for you and still take out the garbage. I will do the dishes cause you make the best grilled cheese in the world, and as much as I love coffee, I will respect your green tea. From sleeping in the sawdust with me to only swearing a little when I brought that wheel barrel full of tools into the kitchen, you help take my crazy dreams into the real. I was always afraid of the future, always a little lost, but then you said yes in that treehouse, and the only dream that matters came true. I can't wait to be your husband. I can't wait to wrap my arms around you and call you my wife. This Peter Pan has found his Stephanie and I will love you always and forever.

Love your review and pictures!! :) Sounds like you had such a great week (despite a few hiccups, but we definitely all have those).

Sean's dad's wife..oh my ..what a riot. I can't believe that. Good on you for keeping your cool. I'm not sure I would have been able to do the same.

I KNEW that was Mr. Hugo Boss.. he is DEFINITELY Fabio looking omg.

He reminds me of the man who came up to my gf's and I at my bachelorette when we were eating dinner at Cibo.. He looked similar to that and told me he was a stripper.

Your vows are so beautiful Steph (both of them)! I love personalized vows, they always make me cry because they come from the heart!! I had the hardest time saying mine without crying, but somehow made it through. Chester was weeping like a baby haha.

Love all this pictures and the candid ones are great!

Your pre-ceremony is so sweet. I felt the exact same way and it's really hard to keep it together when you see it all unfolding and you know it's almost time to walk down the aisle! It's a pretty amazing feeling though.

OMG!! as I was reading your review I couldn't help but to also think about my experience, both being so wonderful. You both looked amazing and just so happy!! It's funny, I used the same way to describe our wedding day. It was better than I could have imagined.

That's frustrating about the excursion on rehearsal day, but hey, it could be worse! Juan actually planned an excursion for us on the rehearsal day. They sold it to him like it was 4 hrs (to which I reluctantly agreed after a LOT of pressure from him), but when we got in the van they told us it was the whole day. I was fuming. I get back at like 5pm, I had a bunch of messages from my bridesmaids who thought we'd be back at like 12 and hadn't heard anything from me. No one knew what was happening and I had to plan all the little things out. Then I had Juan who could not understand how I could possibly still have so many things to do, so he obviously didn't get why I was so mad haha. To sum it up it was not such a sweet day before our wedding day. I was basically pissed off at Juan haha.

I absolutely loved your vows. And...this is why I hate writing things, because I could never come up with something so beautiful. Both of your vows were so heart-felt. I loved them :)

I also loved the first look pictures :), I love his reaction. That's always my favourite part hehe.

Don't you wish you could go back and do it all over again?!

Thanks ladies!!! We definitely had an amazing week and I can't believe it's been 20 days since the wedding already. I really does feel like it was just the other day!

@ I love that you could pick out Mr. Hugo Boss haha!!

I cried through my vows too - it somehow got easier but that first sentence...oh man, I thought it was going to be a bad ugly crying scene. ;)

@@TinkerSofi I can't even imagine if Sean booked an excursion the rehearsal day!! I would have been so angry too!! I got over my sister in law not being there pretty quickly, it's just annoying when you tell people ahead of time. Luckily they were walking in pairs so we had someone just tell her what to do and where to go. Our rehearsal day felt stressful too with the kids meals getting all messed up and the fact that we forgot to make a seating plan --oops! BUT they do say in showbiz "bad dress rehearsal, GREAT opening night" and we did have an amazing wedding day just like you too!! The funny thing was at the end of the rehearsal dinner I was so wrapped up talking with my family about plans for the week I actually said "Let's go to the french restaurant tomorrow.... oh wait...nevermind we're busy" ;)  :P LOL! For a second I totally forgot about the wedding!

We were definitely stressed about our vows because it felt like we had spent so much time planning and didn't leave any time to write the vows but in the end I'm so happy with how they turn out. I tear up just re-reading Sean's vows. Sometimes Sean catches me reading them at home and he's like "Are you reading them again??" haha!

Yes! I want to go back right now and do it all again and I want all of my guests to stay for 2 weeks! We had so many families with us and everyone had their own favourite things to do, Sean and I were constantly running from place to place. Good thing we had a little honeymoon!

@@snswedding2016 yeah, I wish we would have been able to do a honeymoon right after. I agree with you, I didn't feel like we rested much while we were there haha. It was still so awesome to see everyone and i'm so happy we went with a DW. I had totally forgotten about the wedding part too while we were there haha. I think that's what helped me to relax on the day of, that I had been hanging out with these people for almost a week and it was never a dull moment. I knew the wedding would be awesome :)

I don't blame you! I'd be reading those vows every day too ahah. Juan actually wrote his that morning....on a hotel notepad bahaha. I actually burst our laughing when he pulled that out during the ceremony. It was just so him though and I loved it :)

Love your review and seeing all your pictures, seems like it was the perfect day. Props to you for not freaking out on Sean's step-mom - you handled that like a pro!

I'm so in love with your vows   I keep wanting us to write our own, but I know I will be crying through both of our vows if they are anything but generic (and may even cry at the generic vows, lol). Maybe I'll try to do write vow-like notes to each other that we can look back on privately  :)

@@TinkerSofi I love that Juan used the hotel notepad...that's awesome!!

@@krystalball don't worry I cried over the generic ones too during our legal ceremony. We chose the most basic ones we could find and I was still a mess. haha! We were going to exchange notes the morning of but because we wrote our own vows we felt like they would be too similar so I think that's a great plan if you don't write your own vows. Sean loves our vows but thanks to mine he has some friends calling him "Sally" now...lol I had a feeling that might happen. It was just too funny of a realization when I was writing my vows not to include it. haha! Oh I'm never going to live it down...it's worth it though. :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
