Snswedding2016 Planning Thread - Jan 9 2016 (Azul Fives)

Awww, the worst is when you don't even hear it directly from the persons mouth.  Hang in there, it's unfortunate but very rarely, regardless of whether it is a destination wedding or hometown wedding, is anyone really immune to the disappointments.  I do find that with local weddings, most of the people that you invite end up attending, so you don't have the disappointments there as much but it's still possible to be annoyed with your bridal party if they are not pulling their own weight.

Hang tight, you are getting so close to the good part!  When we got together last friday I was sharing with the other end of the table a few of my upsets with the wedding.  We had many and I never really bothered to type them up on the forum because I think that I would reach my entry limit if I did.  hahaha We were really heart broken with my husband's brothers who just didn't get involved in the process at all.  My husband was literally in tears, like hurt because of it.  It broke my heart. Those connections are really broken right now and I was nervous about what the wedding would be like with key people like them not in attendance.

As we stood up to give our speeches at the reception, and we felt the sense of relief and we entered the celebration portion of the wedding, I had the chance to really look around the room and as I paid close attention to our guests with huge smiles on their faces, with their pretty beach wedding outfits that they carefully picked out, their presence was overwhelming.  I broke down in tears because I realized we had really pulled it off.  We did it.  We had the dream wedding we wanted and we had the most important people there with us, and we were happy, and they were happy and it was epic.

It wasn't perfect, we had our detours, the upsets impacted friendships that are probably lost for good... but honestly, how boring would my story be if I told you that I planned a wedding, it worked out perfectly, the end.  hahaha

I can't wait to meet up in October.  I hope that you just like @ can take some time away from the disappointments.  Save your energies for the good moments because there will be soooo many!! ; )

Bridesmaids

The girls will all be wearing a dress of their choice in one of the blues from our colour palette. I created a private pinterest board to help with ideas and inspiration. My two maids of honour will be in the same shade of blue.

Here are some of the pins:

WOW! These bridesmaid dresses are so cute. I love the baby blue tone. Your girls are going to look sooo pretty in them. I'm still reading through your thread and loving your ideas.

It's been ages since I've updated my thread! I don't have too many updates but some are better than none right? It's not like the date is coming up close or anything!!

In Aug I decided to start a new business alongside my current job and it's just been kinda crazy ever since. I often think I'm nuts for deciding to do this with an already hectic work life on top of planning this wedding in less than 4 months!! I keep reminding myself that this opportunity came to me for a reason and it will all work out like it should...hopefully! :)

anyway back to the updates...

Wedding Bands

I have been eyeing a couple of different wedding bands for a while. I wanted something a bit contrasting to my engagement ring but that still complimented it. I can't remember if I've posted this (I think I might have...it's been that long since I've posted on my thread) of the rings I had my eye on.

I was leaning more towards the ring on the right but in white gold. I loved the shape but didn't love the beading around the edges.

We decided to go back to the jeweller that Sean got my engagement ring from. I loved being able to see the place, Sean's been telling me stories of this place since we got engaged so it was cool to finally see it. It was quite the operation to get in with a buzzer and double doored system! I showed the jeweller the rings I liked and she said she knew the perfect ring. I put it on and immediately loved it. I tried a bunch of other rings on too but this one was it right from the start. I kept going back to it and putting it on. It was also the perfect size which is saying something because my fingers are kinda chubby lol!

Sean looked at me and said "why are you still trying other rings on, you clearly love the first one - it's the one." I knew he was right, I looked at the price tag and nearly fainted because it was WAAAY out of budget. We gently asked what the price was and thankfully the price tag was NOT the actual price they were selling it for and it was a lot less and exactly within our budget. Gotta love going to an independent jeweller! ;)

This is my wedding band and engagement ring together:

I also found really thin bands with diamonds on it that I also really liked and they looked beautiful on top and underneath my engagement ring. Sean and I talked about maybe for a 5 year anniversary we'll switch it up and get the two stackable bands to wear with my engagement ring and then I'll wear my wedding band on my right hand as it looks good on its own too!  :)

Sean and I have also been working on finalizing both of our ceremony scripts (legal and symbolic). I'm still trying to sort out our witnesses for our legal ceremony. I'd love to have my mom there but Sean's parents can't be there for the legal ceremony and I think my future MIL would be very sad if she couldn't be there but my mom could. We decided to go with my cousin and her husband who can't make it to Mexico because she's having a baby in Nov but the problem is our legal ceremony is schedule for the week after her due date. gah! I'm trying to move things around but even so we're not sure how long her recovery is going to take so it might just be easier to get other witnesses to be there.

The big thing coming up is the BDR (Brides Dress Rehearsal aka site visit) to Azul Fives at the end of Sept. I can't tell you how much Sean and I are looking forward to this!!! I'm excited to be able to finally see the resort in person but I'm more excited to just have a couple of days off just with Sean. We haven't taken a proper vacation just the two of us in a year and a half! With everything going on work wise I really need this break even if it is only for a couple of days!

I imagine things will be kicked into high gear as soon as we return from the BDR as we'll really get a sense of what needs to get done and how to make it all work!

Love both rings!!! The band is so unique and will definately look great on it's own as well in 5 years :)

Your E ring is gorgeous too I love that style. When I switched my mount I should have looked at this style but since Shawn picked the band with one stone I felt I should keep the same. I love my e ring don't get me wrong, I just love lots of styles lol.

Enjoy your trip!!!

@@snswedding2016 Love your band!  It's not typical, which makes it really special!  Gorgeous!  And sometimes I see some women start to wear only one ring after while, your Ering and band look great together and separately!

Your wedding band is beautiful! I love how your rings look together and I love that your wedding band looks so beautiful that it can be worn on its own. I'm glad it cost under your budget, I definitely agree that independent jewellers are awesome!

I hope you have a great time at your site visit! Keep us posted

Oh my goodness - your site visit is here already? Wow. I remember when you were posting about it earlier in the year and it seemed so far away. I can't wait to hear about the visit, especially after @@TinkerSofi's wedding. It will be cool to get a different perspective on the resort. I'm still disappointed about it, as much as I'm super excited about Valentin Imperial. I still like the resort lay out and I'm so in love with that pier!!

Love the wedding band! It looks beautiful with your e-ring!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
