Snswedding2016 Planning Thread - Jan 9 2016 (Azul Fives)

Recommended Posts

@snswedding2016  @

We booked our legal ceremony for June 13th, literally the day before we leave...  The officiant wants to do the wedding in Spanish to practise his Spanish. hahhaha and Spanish is my second language and to me it doesn't really speak to me much sooo..it's perfect because It wont' really mean much.  lol  No wedding band exchange and a very simplified vow exchange.

I think it will be such a rush because we are leaving the next day that we won't have time to mentally process what we just did.

Funny story, I called the clerk's office to ask where in writing I could see about the rules for symbolic weddings before legal weddings and I think she thinks that I have either a) done it that way and trying to fix it without telling them,   or B) I am still considering doing that.  lol  so hopefully people read our thread about that and just call their local clerk's office and have it confirmed before they find themselves in a similar situation like your friend's friend.

Back to the veil:  I bought my birdcage at a random bridal accessory store on Queen West.  between Spadina and Agusta.  I ended up making myself a cute little feather flower fascinator to add to the birdcage to dress it up.  I'll have to take a pic so you can see what it looks like and maybe it inspires you too :)

@@veryvalentine Ahh so exciting -everything is coming up so quickly!! That's kinda funny that the clerk thinks you're trying to pull a fast one...even though you're just trying to get the info.

Did you get it at Sussman's bridal on Queen? They have a ton of accessories in there! I think I might have to make a trip over there. Please post pics I would love to see your veil!!! :D

I went to Sussman's bridal accessories this week (twice actually). I tried on a bunch of birdcage veils and a bunch of regular veils. I love the look of the birdcage veil…I've always loved them but for some reason I just didn't love it on me. I was talking to one of the ladies at the shop and I'm now considering having a veil made. I'm planning on wearing my hair lower  and I don't want the veil too long so the one I was looking at was $45 for a single layer and it would be an extra $30 to add the lace of my dress to the edging of the veil. I think this is the way I'm going to go. I just need to grab a swatch of my lace from my dress designer to see if Sussman's can work with it.

I also just got a message from a friend (who is a photographer) today on Facebook who has offered to do an engagement shoot for us for free this summer. It was so sweet and nice of her to offer out of nowhere! We were talking location ideas and she randomly threw out the idea of a treehouse and she didn't even know that Sean proposed at a treehouse! Crazy! So we might go back to the proposal location but the only issue is that it is a 4 hour drive for us. I kinda feel bad asking her to drive all that way when she is doing this for us for free. I suggested maybe we find a place that has a similar vibe. We're both going to do some research.  :)

Also we're getting married 8 months from today!!!

@ I know it's pretty crazy! I really feel like it was yesterday that I started planning this whole wedding and we had 14 months to go! Can't believe it! I'm getting really excited that it is coming up so soon but also realizing all of the things I still need to do! haha

Wedding Shoes

I was wandering around the mall yesterday killing some time while Sean was finishing up work and stumbled upon my wedding shoes!  :)

I've been looking off an on but never found anything I liked. I was looking for flat sandals with some sparkle (we're going to be on the grass and possibly the beach). I found two pairs that I loved but one of them were like flip flops and I could just imagine dancing away and my shoes flying off. The ones I picked have an ankle strap so I can dance the night away without worrying! :D

Veil

I forgot to upload a pic of the veil I was looking at. Here is the veil length I'm thinking of and hoping to custom make it by attaching the same lace from my dress.

I also worked on our ceremony script a lot this weekend and it's almost finished!

I agree with you that the flip flops are cute but I couldn't dance all night in them. I think the ones you found look really nice and they'll be perfect for going around in the sand and grass :). I don't know if you're totally set on flats, but if you do want to wear heels and are just a bit worried about the heel digging into the ground maybe a low wedge would do the trick too :).

The veil is great! After adding the lace it will look really similar to mine, including the length. I think it'll look great :D (of course I'm totally biased haha)

@@TinkerSofi I've considered a wedge shoe but if I end up keeping the beach ceremony (although nowadays I'm more leaning towards no) I'll be barefoot so to keep the alteration lengths consistent I thought flats would be the best. I'm still open to looking for some (especially if I change ceremony locations) but I haven't found any that I really like yet. Keeping my eyes open though. I might go back for the sparkly flip flops just to have (not for the wedding) because they're cute! haha!

Your veil is gorgeous!! Can't wait to see the new pics from your fitting!! Fingers crossed that they'll be able to attach the lace from my dress easily to the veil!

that makes sense. That's why I also didn't want super high heels that I knew i'd have to change out of eventually because then my dress would have been too long.

The appointment went well. Now I have to go back on June 22 for the fitting and then seeing if there's anything else that needs to be done :D

@@snswedding2016 I love those sandals! Flip flops are cute but aside from them flying off my feet while dancing, I was afraid of that slapping noise you sometimes get while walking (maybe I just walk funny in them lol).

The veil looks so pretty. It's a great length too, it's not so long that it would fly around and bug you too much.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
