Acw271011 So This Is Not A Planning Thread.... But

Recommended Posts

@vancouverpetunia  Sorry - I've been having computer issues at home with this free Windows 10 upgrade and no matter what I did last night I could not paste a link. It's the same as here at work I can't do it and seems to be connected it IE somehow. I thought I had typed it out in a separate enough way to make it easy for everyone to see. My apologies!!

I just had a look at that website that you posted. They have some really cute things!! Is there a specific one you're looking at? I really like Lulu's except I did find the sizing a bit small, and I think there was one dress I really liked and when I looked at an XL I think it was, it was the equivalent to like a size 10. That is so not happening! lol But there were one or two that I did like.

We just booked our trip out to Vancouver for November 17th. My dad turned 94 on May 11th so we're going to have a visit with him in Langley. At his age you never know when something could happen. My son is there too but he's right in downtown Vancouver. I'm looking forward to seeing them both. It will be a year since the last visit.

@@acw271011   I tried to reply to you last night, but the Tapatalk app crapped out on me and lost my post  Anyhow, I was saying not to worry about the dress web site. I'm the one who missed it in your original post. Duh!

I'm not looking at any specific dresses on Azazie. It's more about colour and fabric, and going with a short style. Otherwise, my maids can pretty much pick what they want (of course, I retain veto power! LOL). I did check out Lulu and didn't find much. There were some nice things, but I felt the short dresses were more nightclub-y and less bridesmaid-y haha.

Sounds like a nice trip to visit your family. Just pack your umbrella! November is WET! I grew up in Langley and now live downtown :)

What kind of budget are you trying to work with? I just had a dress name suggested from someone else here but they seem to be more towards the higher end price range so I wasn't sure whether to suggest it or not. There are some that are reasonable so they aren't all super expensive but I don't know if there are enough reasonable priced ones to give you enough variety to look at. I had never heard of them before but try the Shelli Segal line.

@vancouverpetunia  lol yeah it was the same for me. I saw a few that I liked until I looked at the prices.

We ordered Doug's suit today and he ended up in a light grey instead of the tan and I'm totally ok with that. He actually tried on the ivory and omg - with his tan he looked so good in it but couldn't get around the light coloured pants and I knew if we went with black he'd cook. So gray it is. And it looks good with the turquoise vest and tie.

We also have to pick a cake flavour and a filling flavour and I'm at a total loss. Any ideas? I'm thinking vanilla cake is probably the safest in terms of what everyone will like but fillings.... I have no clue.

@@calgarybride2015 well that's where I'm not totally clear. I've sent an email to Joyce to ask here what some of the fillings mean. On the list there's Chocolate Ganashe (Black or White), Fudges (Black or White), Dulce de leche, Chocolate Cream, Vanilla Crema (optional fruit), Moka, Tiramisu, Buttercream (optional fruit), Cheesecream (optional fruit) and Hazelnuts

It's the ones tagged as "optional fruit" that I'm not clear on. As for strawberry, I wish I could but Doug is allergic to strawberries so that's a no go. I was thinking vanilla cake with a raspberry filling. Doug suggested dulce de leche which is like caramel I guess. But I don't know what the "cheesecream" is supposed to be or the Vanilla Crema. I thought maybe custard?

So aside from Doug's suit yesterday I got a couple of things done today. I also ran into @@diadiamond at David's having her final fitting and I have to say - she looked absolutely gorgeous!!!! Just stunning! She is going to be a beautiful bride!!

I picked up my shoes that I had dyed and they turned out fabulous!!! I love them! I got the petals too for inside so my feet don't slide around. I also picked up the two little flowers to put in my hair so I can have something a little interesting in the back and take the veil off at dinner. There wasn't much selection I have to say and the lady told me that they just can't keep hair pieces in the store. She said as soon as they come in they're gone again. But I like these. They're simple and easy to work with. I did want something with a little more bling but these do have shinies in them so I think they'll be ok.

I also got our "OOT" bags ordered (all 8 of them! lol), plus the sunglasses that I wanted and maracas (yeah all 10 of those too! lol) Next thing I want to look at is the labels for the cups.

Weird I agree. But I bet most if not all are delicious. Hazelnut sounds fab! I'm new to nutella though and love dipping apples in it haha! Let us know what you choose.

Your shoes are fabulous. What David's color are those again?

I'm pretty sure I've seen the flowers and they are pretty. They will look great. I'd have to agree that David's sells that stuff like hot cakes.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
