Man That Sucks! Sorry to hear about all your DIL trouble...she sounds like a piece of work! Like @@deecol said...this is the spot to unload! we all have done it! and that's what we are here for!

The sight of the dollar right now is making me physically ill! I hope something happens soon and it goes back up...although chances of that are unlikely!

It's been a busy few weeks so I'm a late in catching up. So glad you finally got to try on your dress. It's beautiful and you will feel like a million bucks in it when you walk down the aisle :)

I have haven't tried most of these tricks, but check out Pinterest for shoe stretching tips:

https://www.pinterest.com/explore/breaking-in-shoes/

I have taken shoes to a shoe repair place to have them stretched and that has worked out pretty well. Costs a few bucks though.

I'm sorry to hear about the stuff with your DIL. Not cool. I wish things were easier for you.

OMG the Canadian dollar is killing me. Actually, I'm in complete denial and pretty much ignoring it. We don't have to pay for most things until next April, so I'm hoping it will improve. Although it doesn't really sound like it :(

@vancouverpetuniab I'm on the same wavelength as you - just hoping the US dollar turns around by April!  Fingers crossed!!!

It's tough, no doubt. I'm so used to it since my stepson has been in the US for 8 years so I don't like it, but I'm able to balance it out. For anyone not used to it, it's sticker shock for sure!

I received our sunglasses yesterday and the bags and a couple of other things have been delivered to my stepson in PA - my jewellery, the table runner and chair sashes, our cup labels and other things. I won't pick them up until about mid september though so by then I'll be able to put everything together. The good thing is that our friends from here are on the same flight with us and parking their car in our driveway while we're gone, then we're all going in my truck to the airport. It means I'll give them their bags before we go and they can pack them into their luggage. No transport for me! Yay! lol I will take a couple since there are Vancouver people joining us in Mexico but less than what I thought. I can live with that.

I just got caught up on your thread and I'm sorry but your DIL angers me! You are such a supportive, understanding and beautiful woman and to say no to receiving your shipments is such a bitchy thing to do. It's not like you've made her pay for your purchases. Ugh, ppl like her anger me! Hugs and love your way. As my mom always says, you just can't fix stupid lol.

And ladies, our dollar is awful! I keep updating our wedding budget spreadsheet and it's so depressing to see the U.S. price and the CAD price side by side. I'm hoping it will get better. I've never read so many financial forecasts in my life!

we definitely did a lot less in Mexico due to the dollar. Our whole group was on the same boat, the good thing is that everything is already paid at an AI! haha I couldn't even imagine having to pay everything extra over there. Our hotel has the European plan option too, and so a lot of things on the menus have the prices. Some drinks were $17USD  . We would have been so poor at the end haha.

@@TinkerSofi sounds like Vegas. Shawn paid $15 for an orange juice. We asked the server as it has to be a mistake right? No. From them on we got booze instead as it was cheaper lol. I had a burger at Gordon Ramsay's restaurant for less than that orange juice! Sigh

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
