Acw271011 So This Is Not A Planning Thread.... But

Recommended Posts

Your daughter in law doesn't sound all that pleasant or supportive at all. I could understand if she was busy and the shipments had to be picked up from a postal outlet an hour away lol but that isn't the case. Wow. I have no idea. I'd say ask your son but if she withholds visiting rights then probably best not too. Sorry you have to go thru that. Not sure how your son copes.

I did something really goofy today. I bought a dress. I'm thinking I just might do a TTD. Maybe. We'll see.... The thing is the dress was just so pretty and so CHEAP!!!!! It was just too good of a deal to pass up!

attachicon.gifTTD dress.jpg

I think I might snip off the strap and make it strapless. It's ice pink and blush so something a little different. You wont believe what I paid for it.... Try $49   Yep - forty-nine dollars. If you're curious about any other deals.... just ask.

What an amazing deal!!!  I love looking at TTD pictures! I think the dress would look good with and without the strap I can't wait to see what you decide to do with it.

@@calgarybride2015 well that's where I'm not totally clear. I've sent an email to Joyce to ask here what some of the fillings mean. On the list there's Chocolate Ganashe (Black or White), Fudges (Black or White), Dulce de leche, Chocolate Cream, Vanilla Crema (optional fruit), Moka, Tiramisu, Buttercream (optional fruit), Cheesecream (optional fruit) and Hazelnuts

It's the ones tagged as "optional fruit" that I'm not clear on. As for strawberry, I wish I could but Doug is allergic to strawberries so that's a no go. I was thinking vanilla cake with a raspberry filling. Doug suggested dulce de leche which is like caramel I guess. But I don't know what the "cheesecream" is supposed to be or the Vanilla Crema. I thought maybe custard?

So aside from Doug's suit yesterday I got a couple of things done today. I also ran into @@diadiamond at David's having her final fitting and I have to say - she looked absolutely gorgeous!!!! Just stunning! She is going to be a beautiful bride!!

I picked up my shoes that I had dyed and they turned out fabulous!!! I love them! I got the petals too for inside so my feet don't slide around. I also picked up the two little flowers to put in my hair so I can have something a little interesting in the back and take the veil off at dinner. There wasn't much selection I have to say and the lady told me that they just can't keep hair pieces in the store. She said as soon as they come in they're gone again. But I like these. They're simple and easy to work with. I did want something with a little more bling but these do have shinies in them so I think they'll be ok.

I also got our "OOT" bags ordered (all 8 of them! lol), plus the sunglasses that I wanted and maracas (yeah all 10 of those too! lol) Next thing I want to look at is the labels for the cups.

@@acw271011 Thanks for the mention girl!  It was so awesome to run into you and get another opinion on my dress!  I was telling @@acw271011 that I felt special because I got a sneak-peak at her shoes and hair accessories lol.  Your shoes are to die for I absolutely love the colour and I can't wait to see what it all looks like together!  Your day is coming up so soon!

Ok I need an opinion please. Here is the proof of the label for our cups from the designer. What do you think? I LOVE it!!! But what does anyone else think?

attachicon.giflabel for cups.jpg

Love it!  I think it will look great!

I finally got to try my dress on tonight. I HATE the pictures, and really hate having my picture taken. I had a long day today and am absolutely exhausted so the photos are even worse than they would normally be. Keep in mind that the back isn't properly and totally laced up. We were also no in a big room so the back of the dress wasn't properly "puffed" out. It's I think one of the big things that attracted me to the dress. But.... here it is on. Sadly I rushed out of here this morning and forgot the "later" dress (still haven't decided what I'm doing with it yet) so having that one on will have to wait for the weekend.

You look stunning!  I love the way your dress looks on you!  I love the keyhole back and your veil is to die for!  It looks like there's a bit of sparkle on it!

Aww thanks! My friend just grabbed my hair and pinned it so that we could get an idea of the veil length and she put it higher than I wanted but at least it gave me a general idea. We took yards and yards of crinoline out so it toned the dress down a lot!! Which is what I wanted but standing and standing while they pinned and in such a small space I was ready to pass out from the heat. I'm just hoping that being on an open air terrace in mexico makes it nowhere near as bad as it was last night.

Also - anyone have any tips on the best way to break in shoes????? Yikes!

For me when I have to break in a pair of shoes I just wear them around the house for a bit.  I also shuffle the bottoms of my shoes on the driveway to add some resistance to them so I don't slip.  I find new shoes can sometimes be slippery.

@@acw271011 Beautiful dress and you look beautiful in it! Yay!

As far as breaking in your shoes, have you ever used a shoe stretcher? (I think that's what they are called) I have one for each shoe and I love them! You insert them into your shoe and adjust the width. Leave em in overnight or for a few days and they definitely make them more comfortable! I'll try and find a link to what I am referring to.

**Here it is, this is the exact one I have: http://www.zappos.com/foot-petals-stiletto-stretcher-red-black

My other go to for breaking in shoes is wearing them with a thin sock around the house and then heating up the areas that hurt (ex: around the toes or the ankle) with a blow dryer and stretching those areas a bit. Works really well.

@@calgarybride2015  No - you're right. Jessica is not in the least bit supportive. Likely because we weren't supportive when she and Dustin got together. Our grandson is the result of one night they spent together, both intoxicated, at Niagara Falls for New Year's Eve. She turned up a few weeks afterwards with - surprise! I still to this day question the paternity. But..... anyway. It was a big thing about whether she was moving here or he was going there. Doug stepped in because of issues we were dealing with about Dustin at the time and basically said look, this kid is not ready for marriage nor is he ready to be a father. He could barely support himself at the time never mind a wife and child. Long story short, Jessica hates canadian hot dogs and since that's about all she eats it was a done deal she wasn't moving here. So they started the process for Dustin to move there. One of the last comments I made was that he had made his bed and had to lie in it and for heaven's sake don't go rushing into having another baby. They got married 5 days after he arrived there (March) then had a "wedding" in October the day before Cayden's first birthday and whoops... guess what. Max arrived 9 months later. Not by accident I can guarantee. That's the bare bones. Believe me when I say there has been a whole lot more in between then and now, none of which makes Jessica happy in any way, shape or form. Her parents reign supreme and we're the $#@%&* canadians that don't count for squat regardless of how many times we visit and how much money we spend. Nothing has ever been, nor will ever be good enough. I can't stand the little *&%$@ but I love my grandsons and Dustin. But neither one of them should be a parent. That's a simple fact. So it's a big deal that I'm having things sent there for Mexico even though all the times (for 3 kids) that Doug went to the Nestle company store and bought baby formula and cereal and baby food, and the new freezer we bought them plus all the clothes and toys, all the birthdays, easters, Christmases that we've driven nearly 5 hours for. None of that counts for or means anything. And yeah, I sent her a message and apologized for having things sent there because seeing my grandsons is too important.

Ok. Can't do the tears here at work. Sorry ladies for sounding off. I hope this isn't a situation you find yourselves in a few years from now. It really does suck.

@@acw271011 I'm so sorry you have to deal with this :(. I really have no patience for women who think that having a kid is the best way to tie a man to them and then using those children as hostages to get their way through life. It's really not fair to anyone, not even themselves, and I think we're all better than that. Being a Latina, I know that attitude is so common in a lot of Latin American countries. It's awful.

Thank you both of you @@maybeoneday and @@TinkerSofi

I really shouldn't have unloaded. This isn't really the place for it. I just get so frustrated sometimes with all of it and Jessica uses it because Dustin is my stepson. Doesn't matter than his dad and I have been together 14 years. Anyway. Not going to get started again lol Enough said.

I'll get a border shipping address and do my things that way. With the US dollar rate the way it is it's almost hardly worth it at all to buy anything down there anyway! lol

I'm sorry to hear about everything with your daughter in-law.  Don't feel bad for unloading we're all here for you =)  The Canadian Dollar situation really sucks!  I hope it gets better soon because it makes things a lot harder for us brides that are going to be married soon.  I'm starting to feel that I need to start cutting out some extras I had initially wanted just so I can stay on budget.

i know! It sucks completely! They said this morning it was an eleven year low!! Doug and I went south to North Carolina in 2002 and I remember the dollar was at about 63 cents back then. Boy - did we take a hit. I'm in the same boat though. I've just scrapped the idea to pick up a couple of little things to stick in the bags because by the time I pay the shipping it's not worth it. Not for the number that I need. If the number was worthwhile I might pay it but for about 6 it makes no sense. We're off for Labour Day weekend with the trailer to New York but it will be a quiet weekend for sure with the exchange. We booked at the beginning of August and if we cancel now we won't get anywhere decent to go for the weekend since it's the last of the summer.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
