    Hello Ladies,

I've been pondering what I can gift to my parents as well as my FI's parents for the wedding. I'd love to hear ideas from everyone and hopefully it will spark some inspiration for me! I saw a few things online.. one was the custom embroidered hankies, but i'd like to hear of your ideas as well.

    :)

    Hey!

I didn't get our parents anything to physically give them at the wedding. We decided to get each of them a photo book of our wedding pics as a keepsake!

They don't know this :) will be a surprise. My family wouldn't have expected anything in the way of a gift so never was really on my radar.

    Good luck.

@calgarybride2015 Oh that's actually a great idea! I was thinking of maybe even getting a canvas printed of one of the wedding photos, but I love this idea of a photo book as well. I may have to steal it ;)

I don't really know the full etiquette when it comes to gifting for the parents, but I had seen quite a number of people mentioning it. I may just get them something small to give them while we are there.

I got the mothers bracelets with charms that say "mother of the bride/groom" and a hankie. Also, a name hanger:

      mother gift bracelet
      mother gift bracelet
      Bride hanger

For my dad, I'm going to get a canvas made with a photo of us dancing, and put the lyrics to the song over it, like this photo:

SImilar to Kim, I'm doing thank you photobooks for close family, and thank you cards for everyone else.  Unless I can get a hella deal on one of the sites to do 20x20 page custom books lol!

@calgarybride2015 & everyone else lol - I follow this girl for deals/specials on photobooks - http://www.photobookgirl.com/deals/ & http://www.photobookgirl.com/groupon/.  I make a lot of books (used to scrapbook, this is faster/easier/cheaper in the long run) so I am always looking for deals!

So I am kinda going crazy with the gifts since my parents are paying for s large chunk of wedding. I am going to give my mom a gift bag with a nice floppy hat , beach bag, silk robe ( got one for my Mil along with an elephant tote bc she loves them, and for my bridesmaids) , and a carved wooden box of a mom and daughter that I will put necklace and earrings in it for the wedding . I am getting my FIL a classy Hawaiian shirt and my dad a white one hopefully for the rehearsal , a cool beach hat, tie for the wedding, and a Dad hankie. When they get back we will give them photo albums and take them out to dinner.

@perianjay - we got our parents custom embroidered hankies for each of set of parents from https://www.etsy.com...broiderybyLinda.   I just sent her what I wanted each to say and they were beautiful.  I also got my mom a monogram spa robe because she loves them. Since DF wanted to buy his tux, we managed to get a Buy 1 get 3 free deal at Joseph A. Banks (not sure if they are in Canada) so he gave my dad, his dad and his best man their tuxedos.

I love the embroidered handkerchief idea and that is what I'm leaning toward. I'm going to get one for myself too because I sweat a lot and will need something to dab with on the wedding day! I get the sweating gene from my dad, so it is only appropriate to get him a handkerchief, right?

I'm debating whether I need to do flowers for dads and stepmom/mom. I know it would be *nice* but it will add probably $200 to our budget. I don't know if it is that important to them. But I may just do it to avoid them feeling bad.

@girlinthecity97 I like the hankie idea. I was looking at some on Etsy!

@beckys98 I ordered corsages/boutonnières for mine and my FI's parents.

For us, only the bridesmaids got them and for the men, only who was in the wedding (groomsmen, ring bearer and my dad).

My family isn't traditional like that though and no one cared whatsoever.

Personally I'd save as much money as you can as flowers are overpriced.
