Hilton Rose Hall October Bride

Sandraco8

Recommended Posts

Hello - I am new to the site and reserved at the Hilton Rose Hall for an October 9, 2015 wedding. Does anyone have any recent experience with them?

I am only finding posts from 2009 -2011 and am hoping for some reassurance on our decision.

So far I am not impressed with their unresponsive vendors and emailed group sales 5 times in 5 weeks to confirm a group rate (still no response).

I expect much more from a Hilton property and am now second guessing our choice. Our save the dates have been sent so I feel stuck :(

Any advice thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you in advance.

Hi @@Sandraco8 - Congratulations! We aren't getting married at Hilton Rose Hall but practically next door! Have you tried a travel agent for the group booking? I haven't dealt with our hotel on any of that and have the travel agent handling all my guests' bookings and questions!

Thanks for your reply @@beckys98 and congrats to you as well!

I had not considered a travel agent and thought I could manage this myself :(

Can I ask what your experience with Iberostar has been so far and if you have had any unpleasant surprises? I am wondering if I should consider changing venues now that I have a bad feeling about our choice. The online reviews are not making me feel any better.

Our assigned wedding coordinator has been helpful but I've also been waiting for a proposal fron the Hilton's 2 preferred floral vendors for 3 weeks with no response. It just seems as if I am chasing too many people around to give them money.

Thanks again to anyone that can offer me some advice or let me know if I'm just overreacting.

@Sandraco.....hi and congratulations on your wedding.   I have visited 4 resorts in Jamaica when I was deciding where to have my wedding...Secrets, RIU, Iberostar and Royalton White Sands.   My first choice was Iberostar however, they were booked for my wedding day on October 10th.  So I went with Royalton White Sands.   If I didn't have children attending the wedding, I would have gone with Secrets or Iberostar Grand Hall.

I have been using a travel agent who was born in Jamaica but has lived in the US for most of her life. She is very knowledgeable about Jamaica and the resorts in Montego Bay.

There are two new resorts (actually renovations) Hyatt Ziva and Zilara which are really nice however because they have just opened they have a few glitches but the wedding packages are reasonable.

TripAdvisor has been a great help to me.....read the good and the bad about each resort that you are considering.

If you decide to change, I know your guests will understand.  I actually considered changing my resort because it is a smaller resort and thought I would like something larger.  However, the wedding is during off-peak times and I am hoping it won't be too crowded.  :)

Good luck and don't hestitate to ask anyone on this site for advice.....this site has been a great help to me.  :)

Thank you all for your responses and advice! It's nice not to feel stressed and alone about this :)

I've looked through TravelZoo and other similar sites and all of the Hilton Rose Hall reviews about weddings are very old. I am only finding reviews from regular hotel guests.

@@FutureMrsGlover congrats we are getting married on the same weekend!! What can you share about your 2nd choice Iberostar? I am seeing lots of responders who picked that venue so I emailed them last night to check their availability for October 9 (fingers crossed)!

We are traveling to Montego Bay in 4 weeks so I am taking this opportunity to either work things out with the Hilton or look at other properties so please keep the advice coming.

I was married in Jamaica in October 2011, and we loved it! When we finally short listed the resorts, we had Gran Bahia Principe Jamaica, and Lady Hamilton. I had looked at the Rose Hall properties but their price point was higher than we wanted. The one thing we ran into is that things to not move quickly in Jamaica! I'm not saying that's the reason for your lack of responses, but the other thing is that generally the weddings that are before yours are the ones that are dealt with right away. I know that's no consolation but if you like the property keep after them.

I absolutely agree about getting a travel agent. It will take a lot of the stress from you once your guests start to book. There are great travel agents associated with this site - Wright Travel. They're destination wedding specialists! Definitely reach out to them and see what assistance they can provide. There is a contact link on this site.

Good luck and happy planning!

Thank you for the travel agency referral @@acw271011! I will reach out to them today.

What did you think of the Rose Hall property and wedding venues when you visited? Our error may have been trusting the brand too much so we booked before visiting. Lesson learned and thanks to this forum someone else will learn from my error.

I also appreciate your feedback about island time and things moving slowly....that makes me feel a bit better so thank you!

So far my experience with Iberostar Rose Hall Suites has been great. It really is the perfect mix of what we were looking for for us and our guests. I also love that they only do 1 wedding per day and all the brides on here and other forums that got married there have only RAVE reviews.

You should definitely go with your gut - in the end, feeling comfortable with our decision was important. IRHS gave me peace of mind some of my other options didn't. And I imagine we all need all the peace of mind we can get in planning a wedding in another country! I haven't second guessed our choice at all. If no one has actually booked yet, I think they'll completely understand if you change.

Hello all - I still haven't heard from any past or future Hilton Rose Hall brides. Is anyone out there? :( Also, any thoughts on Tai Flora or Grande (Hilton's approved floral vendors)? I've been waiting for quotes from them for 3 weeks and counting.... I also reached out to Jan's although they are not on the vendor list. Would love to hear of anyone's experience with these florists.

I also wanted to take the time to post about the positives so far since I only spoke of the negatives before. The approved photo vendors, SunGold and Photodayz have been extremely responsive and informative. Both have answered my barrage of questions very quickly so I would recommend reaching out to either for your Jamaica wedding.

I also ordered my STD and will order invites from an Etsy shop called Stylish Scribe. Jessica has been amazing in answering my questions, mailing me samples and provides unlimited revisions of proofs. She specializes in destination weddings any our friends and family are still raving about the luggage tag magnet STD!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
