"bridesmaid" Dress For Your Wedding Dress? *gasp*

Recommended Posts

I have been searching and searching various sites for a wedding dress ... This is my second marriage and I really want something elegant, simple and cheap .. Well, I can't find a darn thing .. Until I clicked on the "Bridesmaid" section .. Now there are some nice dresses, under $200 and come in White or Ivory!! NICE !! But to wear a "Bridesmaid" dress?? Oh the horror! :o I think not .. Who cares .. As long as you love it, it looks nice and its within your budget .. then why not??

I have found some nice dresses on "Light in the Box" but am scared to order something online without trying it on first .. I am not a "skinny" girl and am short (5' 4") ..

Can anyone in the GTA/Eastern Ontario Canada region  please suggest some great dress shops that I can at least try some dresses on to get an idea of what looks nice and with any luck find my dress?? Thanks so much ... :)

David's Bridal has a lot of selection and the dresses are cheap in price! (Or can be). They have some of their website under wedding dresses that to me are bridesmaids dresses - given that I bought all our dresses there. My dress was $500 and my bridesmaids $160 so sounds like it could be in your budget. Check them out online and if something grabs your attention make an appt :). Also try prom type stores or evening wear dress stores - I can't name any for TO but Calgary has a few. Good luck.

My dress is a bridesmaid dress!! It wasn't something I was planning on doing but the consultant at one store new I was looking for something simple and elegant and suggested that dress. It's ivory and I added a sash and floral piece to it so it looks more bridal. It was about $250 so I couldn't argue with that price! :) I say get whatever makes you happy!

I actually saw the "bridal" version of my dress on say yes to the dress Canada the other night...it just has less lace on the back but was $700!

I think any bridal store you go into should be able to help you. Just let them know your budget and what you are looking for!

When I remarried 20 years ago my dress was actually considered a BM dress! Now I think as a BM dress it probably would have been too much but it was perfect for my wedding dress. I was married in a church too. Some BM dresses are very ornate.

Now that I'm searching for a destination vow renewal dress I'm sure to look under all dress categories, not just wedding dresses. Definitely go for it!

Hi Tan38!

Here's another vendor that is available in the GTA area called Henkaa.

I have chosen the Henkaa dress for my BMs in a light peach/coral.  They do have ivory and white as well.  I love these dresses because they are convertible so they can be worn in like 100 different ways (literally) and you can wear it the best way that it suits you...you can even add accessories to it or add a skirt over it to give it more volume.

They carry these dresses at Kleinfeld's (Eaton Centre The Bay 7th floor) and they also have a Henkaa show room but only by appointment somewhere in Mississauga.  They are $169.99 for the ankle length dress.

I wore a convertible dress for my engagement party and loved it!!  It was a shorter version, more cocktail party but I have seen the floor length one and it is so pretty.

Here is their website:  www.henkaa.com

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
