OOT Bags!!

We are almost done with our OOT/welcome bags.  A lot of things still have to arrive in the mail and yes I waited until the last minute so that's what I get.  lol

We have already started packing our cups and I was sure to pick up tips from past brides on how to carefully bubble wrap them.

We are probably going to keep everything or at least try, to keep everything in one luggage for the contents of the welcome bags.  I have all the receipts which I will keep with me in my wedding book.

@calgarybride2015  you've been soooo helpful and I wanted to give you a big thank you... I also wanted to ask you how many luggages did you bring with you.  I need to ask Sunwing how many we are allowed.... I know we get an extra 10kg allowance but between the two of us we will probably need to bring 3 at least.  I'm going to ask my bridal party to bring things for us as well and my sister is flying out with us earlier so she can as well.

Also, once you arrived at the resort with all your guests, how did you distribute the welcome bags?  We are arriving 3 days before so we are going to put them together the night we arrive and have them ready to go.  I don't know if I'm just sleep deprived, anxious, cranky or what...but I've spent so much time on these bags that I feel like I should have a special ceremony for them just to hand them to our guests...they.don't.know.how.much.work.went.into.those..hahahah

We are trying to book a welcome dinner for all our guests so we might just present them to our guests at that point or maybe when they arrive and we meet them in the lobby.  I feel like there will be so much going on when they first arrive that they won't really appreciate the welcome bag..I don't know?  thoughts?

I said yes!!

It was an emotional evening but I finally said yes to my dress!  I decided to go with my #1 pick.  There are so many elements that I love about this dress and it suits the beach wedding.  it's also not very heavy and I wasn't sweating in it compared to another dress made out of satin.(Just in the store alone I was sweating buckets.)

Yay!  xoxo

Wow that is a beautiful dress! Suits you so well. Congratulations!

What necklace have you selected?

@perianjay    That's such a great idea..maybe we will book the welcome dinner and have a separate table for the bags. I was thinking it might be a hassle for everyone to walk around with their bags afterwards especially if they want to catch a drink or a show.  Oh well.  lol  I like your idea of having a small table set up.  So smart.

We would do it the next night but we are doing our bachelor and bachelorette night at the Blue Parrot.

I keep having thoughts about what if my luggage gets lost and all the OOT are lost...like I'm legit nervous.

@@emmapalmer I am not sure yet.  I am making myself a pearl cluster bracelet that will match my dress.  I have a birdcage veil with a flower and I'm not sure if a necklace might be too much.  I might dress up my neck for the reception and wear a fun statement necklace.  The nice things is that I can probably change up my look all I want throughout the evening.

@@veryvalentine, I agree with @ to present your welcome bag at your welcome dinner. Check-in may be chaotic and your guests may have their hands full with their own luggage and even a welcome drink!

I love the idea of a separate table to display them! It's funny how you guys mentioned the little things bc the welcome dinner is what I'm fixated on at the moment. We would really like to have it the first night but not sure what our flight times are at the moment. Do you think it would be safer to just schedule it the next day??

I guess it just depends.  I don't want to wait too long to do the welcome dinner as I want people to break the ice early on to start enjoying the week.  We know our flights time and so far everyone will be arriving by 1pm so the evenings is clear for us.

It's all the little details that count!  They all add up...and they keep me up a night!  hahaha

@@veryvalentine I'm like you and I don't really want to wait for a whole day to pass before getting to know each other. BUT I agree with @ that half day of traveling will be exhausting. We're all departing out of Vancouver so the flight will be 5 hours long, then we have to take into account time change. I think the earliest arrival would be 4 pm. Too close right?

OUU that might be cutting it too close @Wafflesmom   We are having our bachelorette and bachelor party the second night so we just don't' have the option of doing it.  A lot of our guests are people we don't see regularly so a lot of them have already asked us to go to dinner with them so I think it's just easier for us to do the big dinner the first night given that they will have time to settle in and the dinner is going to be for 8:00

I'm jealous of your guests' early arrival @@veryvalentine. I guess I'm going to have to accept that this is cutting it too close. Plus if we don't make it in time, I think we'll get charged for organizing the private event. That wouldn't be a great start to the week!

Oh crud. Reading this about the welcome dinner just stressed me out! Our wedding is on a Thursday and a critical mass of our guest arrive on Wednesday - so to do a welcome dinner we kind of have to do it on Wednesday! And we have to do it at 6:30. I know people will be tired, but I'm hoping they'll be so excited that the adrenaline will carry them through? Plus outside of the wedding that'll be the only other night we can all eat dinner together.

BUT, now I'm wondering if everyone arrives in time? I better double check flight times for those who arrive that day to make sure they do. We are doing a beach bonfire after dinner, so even if they have to (or want to) skip dinner they could definitely just join us later for the bonfire.

Also for OOT bags, I'm having them pick them up at reception when they check in. Since everyone arrives on different days, this makes the most sense. My sister got married in Mexico about 2 years ago and she did it at check in and it was really fun to have it there when you checked in! Plus, every all-inclusive I've stayed at had bellman carry our bags to our room so that shouldn't be a major problem.

That said, if our guests were arriving mostly on the same day and a few days in advance of the wedding, I might do it at the welcome dinner! That would be fun too! Basically I'm saying don't over think it - it'll be great and appreciated no matter how you do it :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
