Veryvalero's Wedding Planning Thread - Grand Sunset Princess

Recommended Posts

Oh I get that frustration! Our wedding is a week before yours and the mother-of-the-groom still hasn't made her plans?! My fiance asked her twice again last week and we still don't know what her deal is and if her boyfriend is coming! I give up. She is impossible. I have a feeling she wants us to offer to pay for her trip, but that conversation should have been had a year ago when we sent out the travel information, not a month AFTER our final payment deadline.

Get it together people :)

@perianjay  Thanks for your kinds words!  I'm like literally, totally, entirely, stressed.

I think I need to sit down and write a good to do list because I am probably more overwhelmed than I Need to be.

Because we have guests coming from Europe and other parts of the word, the guest list isn't finalized because they are still planning or deciding.  It's really annoying.  I keep messaging one of my cousins just to get an answer if she is coming and like, she just keeps delaying her answer.  It's so annoying.  She was like 100% coming and now I just want to know either way but she's not responding.  It's really annoying.

I realize I probably won't be able to do the seating chart until the week before we leave and I didn't want to have to do those things then.  :(

@beckys98  Get it together people is right!!!

That's crazy that our weddings are so close.  OUr wedding is the 20th of june but we leave the 14th...so I literally have a month and a few days.  it's insane.  I can't even wrap my head around it.

I think I'm just going to move forward and stop asking.  At this point if they really want to come they will find us and if not, then I'm sure they just don't know how to break it to us and honestly, at this point, I don't even care.

It's crazy that the groom's mom hasn't booked.  Had she let you know that there were some payment issues you could have put money aside slowly...but noooooo.  lol all last minute.  I need a drink but I'm trying to stay away from the calories ....

Yep - we leave for Jamaica in 29 days! It still feels very surreal - very hard to picture the whole thing coming together - so it is hard to be excited. I have moments of pure panic, moments of disbelief (I'm going to be a WIFE! Whoa), moments of excitement, and moments of sadness that the whole thing will be over before we know it (not the planning part - I'm totally over that, but the vacation with our friends/family part). It really is a once in a lifetime thing!

To be honest, my fiance's to-do list is longer than mine right now, which is about right but makes me nervous at the same time. He hasn't had many tasks up until now :) The music is his main domain and also planning the excursion. His ring. He needs to review/edit/approve the ceremony script I wrote. I also asked him to write the letter for our welcome bags. He sent off all our notarized paperwork to the wedding coordinators today to apply for our marriage license (we're getting legally married in Jamaica).

On my to-do list are place cards for welcome dinner and reception, all final vendor payments/coordination and other document organization, itinerary for welcome bags. I have an alterations appointment tomorrow and I'm hoping it is perfect and no other alterations are needed. We both need to put together our picture "must have" list for the photographer.

My sister and my niece are handling my guest book for me. My niece is home from college so she is also going to assemble the hangover kits for the gift bags for me. Outsourcing!

And, of course, PACKING and all my pre-trip beauty appointments :) I'm sure I'm forgetting a million little things too...

Oh my goodness @perianjay  !  Is it normal that I totally cried after reading your post.  You are so kind.  I think that as one gets close to the 1 month mark things get so much more heightened.  Keep up your amazing planning because if I was as prepared as you are right now, I would probably feel a bit more relaxed.

I'm gonna tackle my to do list this weekend and post pictures of all the things we've accomplished to hold myself accountable ! :)

I know, when we bought our house about 9 months before the wedding I told some friends I have something to tell you. And when I met up with them they said their guess was I was either pregnant or we had bought a house lol. I was like pregnant right now would be really really bad! Especially because I'd have a Baby a few weeks old or I couldn't travel for the wedding haha.

I was wondering about your BM dresses (sorry if I have missed an update). If I followed your thread correctly, you ordered one from Daint Yard to give it a try and then ended up ordering more for all of your BMs. Have you received the other dresses yet? I'm wondering how they all turned out and how they look on your BMs. I'm thinking of these or something similar, but my BMs are pretty busty, and one is a bit curvier as well. I'm just wondering how they might work for them. Will they cling too much? Will they be modest enough? etc.

Hi @@vancouverpetunia

I did order my BM dresses from Daint Yard!  I was initially going to do my dresses from Henkaa.com but learned from a fellow forum friend @ that the dresses were more affordable here.  I ordered a dress as a sample and liked.

I have 7 bridesmaids and 3 are petite and the rest are busty.  The Daint Yard has the option of ordering plus size dresses too.  waist size from 37" to 53".  I think the dresses looked great.  The material is a bit thinner compared to the other option i was looking at but the other option was also $169 compared to this awesome price of $60.   They all examined and tried on the sample dress and were happy to go forward with it.

If you do go with them, give yourself some time to order them as the dresses are coming from Singapore and take at least 3 weeks to arrive in the mail.

Let me know if you have any other questions :)

I'm getting married in a month so you'll see my bm pics soon enough :)

Thanks for the feedback. @@veryvalentine you make a good point in that I'll be able to see your photos soon (so soon!!!!). Our wedding isn't for 11 months, so I have lots of time.

I don't think either of my girls will need a plus size. But being busty myself, I hate the look when it's "all boob" so I just want to make sure that doesn't happen. And also since the material is stretchy, I don't want it to cling to the wrong places. I'm not big, but I'm also not the skinniest girl in the world, and one of my BMs is a bit larger than me. One thing I really hate and that makes me self-conscious is something that shows off the lumps & bumps around my middle, if you know what I mean.  :P I don't want her to end up in that boat either.

Maybe a good idea to order one for me like I think you both did. If I like it then, I can order the other two. Will add a bit to my shipping costs, but whatever.

One month from today we will be arriving at the hotel and checking in!  Crazy!

So I thought we had all our guests finalized but as it turns out 4 decided to book today and we are still looking at another 4 pending.  ahhhh!!

I wonder if this is normal.  I tried to get my number for the OOT bags but honestly at this point some of them will be getting a more toned down version of it.  I can't keep up.

I finished my bridesmaid jewellery and I'm so excited.  I'm going for a gold and cream look.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
