Veryvalero's Wedding Planning Thread - Grand Sunset Princess

Recommended Posts

@@veryvalentine I just spent the last hour reading through your entire thread. I am in love with everything you've done so far.

My resort and flight deposits are going in Monday and I cannot wait to start my planning. You've inspired me!...and scared me a little. You're so creative. I hope I can come up with ideas as beautiful as yours, and be able to execute as flawlessly.

Congratulations on what you've done so far. I can't wait to keep reading :)

A little bit of progress this weekend.

Bridesmaid dresses:

After waiting and waiting for the dress, it finally came in.  I ordered the dress in the colour 'coral' and it is very vibrant.  I originally had picked out the peach colour from Kleinfeld's Henkaa dresses but it was not quite the colour I wanted.  The Henkaa dresses are $169 but these dresses from DaintYard on etsy are about $65 + 20 shipping.  The quality of the DaintYard dresses are not quite as great as the Henkaa but they are still nice. They seems thinner and the quality isn't as nice as the Henkaa.   I think I'm going to go ahead and order the rest of the dresses from DaintYard as the price is great but I'm still torn because I really think the quality is much better at Henkaa.

Cake Topper

We went to the one-of-a-kind show and I found a vendor on Etsy that sells these cute 'papel picado' toppers and they are totally customizable.

($15 - lightPaper on etsy)

Makeup & Hair Trial

The make up is a little too strong for my liking.  I'm usually wearing barely any make up.  I might want it to be more on the natural side.  I do want to wear an accent lipstick for the reception.  My hair will be down for the wedding.  I'll be wearing a bird cage veil for the ceremony and flower crown for the reception.

I love the papel picado topper :). I think the makeup looks great but if you're not comfortable with it then it's ok to wear less :). It's all about owning the look, and if you're not comfortable it's very hard to own it.

I think that if I had nothing to compare to the dress to, I would love them.  I love the colour.  I'm going to have my sister who is my maid of honour, try them on and see what she thinks before I go ahead and order them.  Did you buy them for your bridesmaids as a gift?

Thank you!!

I just read some of the lovely compliments and they totally cheered me up.

@wafflesmom  my burns are healing.  It's amazing the difference that 1 week can make.  The pain is basically gone.  Now I'm dealing with the actual injury itself but I've been really careful to keep it clean and with cream.  I'm frustrated because I still can't work out but hopefully in another week I can start up again.  Need to fit into my dress!

@ashhtayy   thank you so much for your lovely compliments.  I wasn't sure if I was going to do a planning thread but it helps me out immensely just to keep me on track and motivates me to continue to work through our projects.  My  next project is my flower crown :)

@maybeoneday   Sorry to hear about your mom's passing.  This process has been surreal without my mom around.  I knew this day would come and I knew it would be difficult.  I still haven't decided how I will honour her memory.

xoxo

Agreed.  But I do think that some of my BMs will wear it again, especially if they go to a resort or are on vacation or maybe a summer wedding.  I love the convertible style dress.   The colour shows up kinda red in the picture but it is more of a coral in person.  I am also thinking of giving them their dresses as a gift but I'm still deciding because it's a bit out of my budget right now.  My intentions were to do it.

Table Numbering:

I am torn between two ideas one is slightly more fun than the other, mainly because it involves alcohol!

Idea number 1 @TinkerSofi  I'm laughing because I'm remembering your Martha stewart frustrations!!  These better be easy to use.

Message in a bottle table numbering - easy enough and looks pretty.

Idea number 2

Drinks will lead you to your seat.  I feel like this gets the party started just right!

I totally agree with @periandjay. I was actually going to do the message in a bottle, it's just super cute :). I feel like the drinks will be a lot more work and you can't plan for it ahead of time. This means the hotel might charge you for set up, and let's not forget the increased room for error because they don't know who is who so they can't catch anything that might not look right. With the bottles you can have them filled up already from home or do it one evening with your fiance sitting in your balcony having some drinks ;)

Another thing you could do with the bottles, depending how big of a paper they fit, use it as your guestbook too. So people get their table number, then write a message on the back and return it to you :D. It would be super fun. You could even make it more fun and have two or three different baskets/boxes which indicates what anniversary you guys will be opening the message on. Then people people choose when you'll read their message :). So you might have a basket for 1st year, another for 5th and say another one for 15th, or something like that. Total message in a bottle! Without it ever getting lost in the ocean :)

Totally agree with you.  I think we will go with the message in a bottle.  The drinks seemed like soooo fun but they have to be done before hand and the people giving the drinks away are not going to know if someone grabbed the correct drink.  I could see it being a bit of a mess.  Message in a bottle we can prep before hand and I think it's just the best idea.  I was thinking of wirting a small little message to each our guests jus tsaying thank you again to them for coming etc etc or our fav memory of them.

Something sweet to set the mood.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
