What % Did You Tip Vendors?

Recommended Posts

Not questioning whether I should tip or what exact $ amount you tipped, bc everyone's basis is different. I'm wondering what % you tipped your vendors. Specifically

WC

DJ

Bartender of open bar whose gratuity is already included in head count

Servers whose gratuity is already included in plate price

Photographer

Baker

Florist

I want to know if what I had planned will be received well. If it aligns with the majority I would think it would.

I know any gratuity is appreciated. I also know how gratuity is expected in Mexico based on 12 years of visiting.

Thanks everyone!!

Hey!

I can't help you as a lot of these people were included in my package, and since I don't know what they were paid I am unsure of a percentage.

I just went with what I felt was fair at the time.   In hindsite, I may have tipped a little more to the reception staff because honestly I have no idea how many people worked behind the scenes. I did count who I could see on the floor plus some kitchen staff and if that number is fairly accurate I think I tipped them respectfully.

EDIT: Honestly though, I think these people are over the moon with anything.  When we had our private dinner on the beach after our wedding, we tipped our server 150 pesos and he actually kissed it, held it to his heart and then put it in his pocket.  (he didn't do this in front of us, but hubby saw him do it away from us)

Thanks!

I appreciate your help!

I know, I get it. I know how incredible service is there and how they literally work for n value tips.

I am trying to figure out what they are used to receiving for weddings so I can tip them.

I've sourced all vendors and I couldn't tip each 20% that would cost me around 3k.

I wonder who gets the 35 bucks per person in gratuity charges for my food and bar service that's tacked on to my invoice.

Don't want to short change any

one.

Anyone??

I doubt the workers get it all - maybe some but not all. That's was frustrating is you shouldn't have to tip twice. I know your WC is new but could you ask her? I didn't ask mine just ensured I could tip waitstaff as a group.

I think all my tips are included. I was surprised to realize that people tip the WC ...I guess it makes sense but then I thought they were also hired by the resort to coordinate the wedding and it shouldn't be a tip based position

All my wedding people were resort employees, so I had no idea what to tip!

But I tipped the WC, photographer, and waitstaff at the reception!

My wedding is a month out and my planner hasn't responded to my emails for the last month... If I tip her it's not going to be too much. I just really hope my wedding is still beautiful I can't even handle thinking that it won't be

That's what happened to me around Christmas! I knew something was wrong. FInally Scott called the Venue bc he knew I couldn't handle hearing Adriana left!

Have you tried calling?

My WC sucks now. Like never responds I have to contact her manager etc.

What are you going to do?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
