Mexico would be a great idea!! I know there are a ton of things you can do with a cricut. I think my daughter has one. You're right - iron ons don't work with every type of material.

@@Smellsey they had some really good sales this week! I just realized they sent a coupon for 20% off everything only valid yesterday. I went there and saw these little travel sewing kits and other things for the OOT bags but I hadn't seen the coupon so I didn't use it, boo (at least I didn't buy anything). Next time!

Update on the bags:

I did some research, Mrsktob didn't specify how the personalized the bags, but it looks like an iron on. It looked awesome! Unfortunately I did some research and an iron on will not work with the bags I got because they're that non-woven plastic material, and they will turn into a gooey mess when the iron is applied. I'm not going to risk it. However, I worked on the cricut and designed a little stencil. I still have to work out the logistics and try it out but I've attached a picture of what I designed so far. The letters will be cut out and I'll paint them white on the bags. I 100% ripped off the idea from wedding chicks and I admit it hahah.

I designed it on cricut-craft room. I don't have the cartridges I used to make it, so in order to cut the design out I need to buy them. I'm trying to get a good deal on ebay for it before caving in and just buying it full price. For that design I technically need two cartridges, luckily the one with the maracas is only $5, vs. the $30ish that a regular one costs. The only way I can justify buying the font cartridge full price is that my mom might use use when making cakes and other things in her bakery.

Update on the freebies from the hotel:

I got an e-mail today from my WC, and from what she said we are approved for the free private dinner, yay! and they're making our ceremony free since we are upgrading quite a few things for both the ceremony and reception. They just need confirmation that we have enough rooms with our group to qualify but that shouldn't be a problem. My TA already sent her a list of guests so far.

I started thinking about making the private dinner our welcome dinner the day after we arrive, for everyone to get to know each other and mingle. Then use the semi-private dinner for a rehearsal or the day before we leave. I asked Juan but he basically said "I don't care. We have free food anywhere anyways" haha.

That is so awesome!!! How did you get the free private dinner?? I guess I should start upgrading things to get free stuff ha. But hey - I have 64 guests attending!

The only reason why we got the free private dinner is because we booked a week or two before they changed the rules. Honestly, I was so disappointed on myself for missing such a huge fine print statement, even after I had gone through everything with a fine tooth comb. As it turns out I wasn't crazy and my TA told me that we should get it. She had the handout for that time of the year saying that it was for US and Canadian couples.

I noticed that the small print changed after Transat became the only tour company going there from Canada, so the girls might be right, Transat probably negotiated a really good rate for us Canadians and they can't give us any more discounts. When we booked, Transat had just done the deal, not even my TA knew before finding out the prices.

If you're working with a TA that works with Karisma I'd ask her to see if there's anything you can negotiate since you have so many guests. Hopefully they budge on something!

Sorry!! I swear I read somewhere someone painted one on with a stencil. It must have been another bride. Maybe I'll try a quick search :)

Looks great though. I agree on pricing. Hurt my stomach to buy all these hole punches I'll never use again too haha

Glad you get the free event. I'd totally recommend a private welcome meal - then you can talk and not have the area loud and distracting.

Ya I am going to see her tomorrow so I will be bringing up a couple things. It doesn't hurt to ask right!!

Congrats though!!

I transferred some money into my US account last week because my financial advisor figured the dollar would go down even more - 12,500 CDN was like $9,000 US. How annoying! So if I get can free stuff - I will try! lol

@@Smellsey wasn't the dollar at $0.80 for most of last week - wouldn't it have been around $10,000 - worried that you lost $1000 somewhere - eek!

I feel your pain too...I'm watching the dollar like a hawk and trying to figure out the best time to put money in my US account.

No when we transferred it was at 0.79. I don't know the exact amount - it wasn't $9,00 on the dot. but it was definitely under 10,000.

They say it is not going to get better than it is right now for at least a year.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
