Tinkersofi's Planning Thread - Azul Fives August 13, 2015

Recommended Posts

he tore it playing soccer. He was just running and 5 minutes in he said he feels and hears this crack and just pain. He thought maybe he had sprained something but when he told me he heard a crack I was like "oh, no, that sounds like a torn tendon". Anyway he waited a couple of days and then went to physio and they told him he had to go to the hospital. I don't think it's fully torn which is good! because he won't need surgery. They told him that surgery might be a bit risky actually. I'm crossing fingers that everything will be relatively well by the time the wedding comes around. I want him to enjoy himself over there and not have to worry about putting on and taking off a boot, but we'll see how things progress :).

Oh that is good! He definitely may be in good shape by your wedding then!

Sounds like how my fiance described it. Although, his was torn all the way so he definitely did have to have surgery. His recovery was pretty long and living in the city where we walk everywhere was really inconvenient - and it was winter. Wearing a boot and using crutches are not ideal in the snow and ice. Ugh...I think I've blocked that time period out of my memory. Ha!

@@TinkerSofi - Bummer about your dad!! My fiance tore his Achilles a few years ago playing basketball and had surgery to repair it. At least it happened NOW and not right before the wedding! He has some time to heal before your big day!

Happened to my kids dad too playing basketball! He needed surgery and still to this day the site bleeds from time to time.

Sorry to hear about your dad!! Hopefully he's all healed up for the wedding. Crossing fingers for him!

@@TinkerSofi, I'm sorry to hear about your dad. I hope that he has a speedy recovery, especially in time to enjoy himself at your wedding.

And I love that card. I'm like you and I never know what to write. I just end up with something generic like congrats lol

Yeah i'm glad he didn't tear it all the way. The physiotherapist told him that it could happen randomly to anybody, so it's just bad luck. I'm surprised he wasn't in more pain. He had a limp and was barely able to put his foot down but he was able to get around without crutches in the first few days. Maybe he just has in insanely high pain threshold haha.

It will be a challenging few months, it's on his right leg, which means he can't drive so it's driving him nuts already that we have to drive him around haha, and it definitely takes more planning on all our parts.

@@TinkerSofi poor guy. sending positive vibes for a speedy recovery!

ps. love the guestbook cards. I love when brides switch it up and do something a little different. great keep sake!

I can't claim full credit for these cards. I knew I wanted something different but the ladies here helped me out and gave me the ideas :), and pinterest too haha.

It's kind of funny, I posted here that I ordered them and then my friend came over and they were at the door! haha. They turned out really well :). I thought they would take much longer since I paid for the cheapest shipping I could haha.

Oh that sucks! So his wound is still open? I have a pilonidal cyst and sometimes it does that where it opens up and drains and then it closes back up, so maybe it's the same thing? After 3 surgeries on that sucker I was done haha.

Hopefully this heals nicely for him, without any chronic pain or anything like that :)

They came out really well! I'll post a picture of the back tomorrow when I get a chance. It's not "wow" but at this point I'm like whatever haha. I just didn't want to leave it blank :)

Hey! No I have a suspicion he didn't let it heal properly. He drives truck for work and probably didn't wear the boot long enough. Visually you can tell it's been repaired and there is just a lot of scar tissue there that I think it rubs and gets angry. He doesn't seek care when it does. I'm sure there are much better outcomes.

Ugh I've never had a pilonidal cyst but I've helped drain them. I feel for you! I can't believe it randomly drains itself. That must hurt like a ****.

good to know! I'm always on people's case to do physio because I think it's so important, especially after spending so much time without using a muscle. Unfortunately the body is on a different time to heal and we're just way too impatient.

The cyst is ok now. It bugs me very rarely, and when it does open up is not really painful anymore, but it was at one point where I couldn't sit too far back. Funny enough, my parents go me this natural ointment from Australia when it opened back up for a 4th time. I would honestly cry at the mention of another surgery because they were painful and took so long to heal, plus it wasn't guaranteed that it wouldn't come back. I have no idea what this ointment was, they got it online but it worked like magic! It hasn't really bugged me ever since using that.

This is completely true! I thought my fiance would flake out on it a bit but he was very diligent about going twice per week and he would also swim once he was allowed. It is SO important! The only issue he has is he has to be careful which gym shoes he buys because some come up higher in the back and rub the scar, but he still plays basketball 3 times per week!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
