The Real OOT Bags

I worked on the real bags today! Yay!! I'm super happy with how they turned out (well only the 6 I was able to do today haha). I feel like they look more uneven on the picture than in real life. My mom also had a hard time sticking her stencil on so they didn't come out as neat.

I'm not very impressed with the stencil paper. I'm totally not a big fan or Martha Stewart, everything I buy from her brand is anywhere from "meh" to full blown crap haha. So don't buy her crappy stencil paper if you're following this for ideas. I found the stencil plastic gets stretched really easily when peeling the back so then it makes it very hard to stick on while leaving no wrinkles. Thank god I didn't do them with spray paint, because the paint would have gone into the little crevices.  I think I'll try to just use cardstock and stick it on for the next few and see how that goes. These turned out really well, don't get me wrong, but it got very time consuming sticking the stencil on perfectly. If using cardstock, there's also a spray glue to make sure the stencil stays on if using spray paint.

@@MissJen3 I steamed the bags a little bit before painting them. Yours were probably folded in squares too and so it's hard to put any kind of stencil with the wrinkles that that leaves. I just put a cotton fabric on top so that the bags wouldn't melt on my iron and I set the temperature on the lower range of cotton section :)

Seating Chart

Juan and I bought some fans for the ceremony for people to keep cool. We will be using these as our seating chart as well. I'll attach a little sign with the person's name and their table number for the reception. This way we are killing two birds with one stone :). I was working on the signs today but I'll post something once they're totally done, which won't be until June when our guests are 100% and I can finalize the seating chart :)

The waterproof pouches finally came in. They took about a month and I was getting a bit worried they would never make it.

My review is a bit mixed. The bad: these things take A LOT of effort to open. With that said, water will not be getting into these babies. Smartphones work through them so people can use their phone as an underwater camera :) or at least that's what I think so far. I need to try one out (another one of my silly experiments) and make sure they're 100% waterproof before I can tell people to put their smartphones in there and go in the water. They do have 2 super strong zipper closures and two snap buttons on top of that so I don't foresee any problems unless you close them incorrectly.

I guess my mixed review comes from the fact that I thought they'd be easier to open for people to put money and stuff in there, so that they could open and close them a few times. However, they take so much effort that I would just put my phone in there and take it out at night. attachicon.gifImageUploadedByTapatalk1426905513.773108.jpg

Thank you guys! The plan is to make about 5 bags every day so it doesn't seem like a burden, but I enjoy making them a lot!

I really like the bags!  They turned out really nice!  Your rant about Martha Stewart products was hilarious.

Everything is coming along so nicely!  :)

Hahaha I had a good laugh yesterday with my mom. I was saying that she should go back to jail for stealing my money every time I buy something from her brand bahaha.

I got them from ebay. I'm surprised how good they are for less than $1! This is the link:

The bags look perfect! You did a great job with it. You seem to have some great DIY skills even if the Martha Stewart stencils were crap..I could never tell.

I think they turned out really well and I'm very happy with them :). This wedding is forcing the DIY out of me haha and I enjoy it so much! I will need new projects when the wedding is done because I'll miss it so much. My mom yesterday was telling me that I'm very crafty!

I like sewing and I've been playing with the idea of making my own bride robe. We'll see what happens with that :). I feel like I'm a bit over 4 months out and I'm running out of projects! Pretty much everything is done haha.

Next up is planning and putting together the music! yay!

You are soooo organized!!!!  I feel like a delinquent bride...

Keep in mind this wedding has been in the works for 2 years hahah so even though I didn't start the actual hard core planning until a year out I had plenty of time to organize my ideas.

I would have been super scattered had I had only a year to come up with all the ideas and executing them :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
