Encore DJ Services is the only preferred vendor for DJ services recommended by the Secrets Maroma wedding coordinator.  I am hoping someone has a review or experience with them.  Thanks!

As I have said many times, DJ is the most important, keeping up the people and having great lighting, this will  be reflected in your pictures, If you care of course, so I think there are 2 great options in the Riviera Maya, Cancun disco movil and Doremixx, remember this is my opinion and must be good ones or aceptable

Cheers!

I guess it depends on 2 things.

1.) are you marrying at a place that will allow you to bring in a dj of your choice?

2.) a lot of WC have people they are friends with in the business and like to recommend their services.

Your doing the right thing by coming on here and asking. It's good to be thorough.

And I agree DJ is so important. If it wasn't for my DJ being so awesome this far I would be worried bc my venues WC quit last month. But I think my dj will keep things moving along come wedding day. Good luck!

Our venue has a list of preferred vendors that they allow on the property without charging an additional fee and we have a credit towards their DJ with our wedding package.   Unfortunately they only have one DJ on their list... If we choose to have a DJ that isn't on their list, we have to pay the resort a $350 outside vendor fee plus the cost of the DJs services.

We are having a small wedding with 20 people and have been going back and forth about just renting a sound system and using playlists.  I really would like someone to be there to MC the reception however, I'm not sure it's worth the money, especially with such a small group.  I'm really torn because I  understand the importance of having a DJ to keep things moving and guests entertained!

Could you not have a guest be an MC if that is your concern?

We used the resort DJ and he did great playing music and keeping everyone dancing but our MC (my brother in law) kept the flow going, made sure all the must haves happened, etc.

Is the credit they are 'giving" you worth  hiring the hotel DJ just so you have an MC?

Is it included with your wedding costs already or do you have to pay a large amount?

If its free or a low cost, and all you need is a good MC I would hire after you have some chats with him.

I think a DJ is more important to your guests than anything.

IDK tough call.

I am having about 25 guests and we hired a DJ and an LED dance floor to make our large venue cozier, giving it a dedicated space for dancing. We didn't have to pay a vendor fee though.

That's a tough one.

Best bet would be talking to the hotel DJ and see if he can accommodate your needs and see if you like his personality.

Good luck dear!

Hahaha @@LisaAnthonyPoppy!  But it is crazy!

Thank you so much for your advice everyone!  I don't feel comfortable asking any of our guests that are going to MC the evening but it is a really nice idea Kim :)

I contacted the DJ on the resort's list this evening and will hopefully get a feel for them and what they're about.  We will have roughly $800 credit that we could use towards their recommended DJ which almost covers the cost.

Thanks again!

I wish my outside vendor fee was $350. I'll take $350 over $800 any day. We hired DJ discomovil. Even with the outside vendor fee it was still cheaper to hire him than the preferred vendor

I contacted DJ Discomovil and they are already booked for our wedding date!

I thought it was common you asked someone to MC like you ask people to be in the bridal party :)

Another thought if the DJ doesn't work out but does your resort offer MC services. It was an extra on our price list for our resort.

Hopefully the DJ works out.

Edit - maybe it's a Canadian thing to ask a guest to MC??

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
